Alright, so Covic just got released by Victory as expected.

I thought I would bring up a specific thread on Goalkeepers,

Who would you like to see between the posts?

I say Covic, he played so well for Victory, getting player of the season also but I guess was forced out with Victory having Velaphi and Thomas.

Let the discussion begin..

he's getting on a bit now isnt he?

I know he hasnt played aLeague for a while but Birighitti is most attractive to me, he's still uncontracted yeah?

^^ lol!

Well Newcastle's future just got confirmed with Tinkler crawling back so I don't think we will get him now :(

Posted

I'd say Covic as 2nd Keeper.

to eventually move to keeper coach? Wonder if he'd have any aspeirations for such a role or be any good at it?

I'd reckon Covic might head back to Lapland with his wife. He couldnt wait to gte back when he left the jets and i think it took massive money to get him to the victory. At his age, getting dropped by Melbourne might a signal to move on with retirement.

Anyone in NSWPL good enough?

Mat Nash at the jets hasn't got a contract.

Neil Young at Perth is quality quality quality.

Is Velaphi really that good to be first choice? I've seen him make a tonne of mistakes.

Both Velaphi and Thomas on contract so it would be stupid to keep covic as their third keeper.

Birighitti is clearly the best free agent out there. If Newcastle tore up his pre-contract they would have to renegotiate and now that WS are in the mix he might wait for offers to roll in.

Anyone know what Crowther is doing? He seems to not even be playing State League, maybe he's finished?

Birighitti would be a class signing, he's young, but still has experience. That's if he hasn't signed with Newcastle.

Covic was really good last season, so he would be a choice if decided to play on.

Matt Nash is playing with Parramatta in the NSWPL and the game I saw against Blacktown Spartans he didn't look very good at all!!

Sydney United keeper is the best from the NSWPL I beleive, would be better than a few of the names thrown around so far.

yeah matt nash had a shocker against spartans. though other than that i havnt seen him play, but i havnt read any reports saying he had a great game or anything like that.

if we are going for a NSWPL gk i would have to say sydney united gk is the one to get

Ron Corry has been chosen as the inaugural goalkeeping coach for WSF Club..

TWG has linked us to Bolton

I would be happy with Bolton. Even if it was only for a year to help setup the defence and mentor a more junior goal keeper. He is such a good shot stopper he could be the most important player if the team sucks early on! :sorry:

Whoops, why so negative (or realistic :cheeky:)

Even if we do I'll just be happy to have a team...

As for Bolton, not sold at all but we might not have much voice

I think we could do far worse than have Dean Bouzanis on the WS books as GK

I agree, if we could get Bouzanis back from England he'd be great.

From the man himself, Clint Bolton.

He said he had an offer from West Sydney which he found "hard to turn down."

Even though SU fav Kalac has signed for SFC for another year as a GK coach, i really do not rule him out as making waves for WS behind the scenes. In fact i think he will end up here eventually.

A constant appearance at King Tom proves he keeps his roots. And habits unfortunately.

I would keep him as a WS prospect almost nailed on to be around soon enough.
