mack Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Wanderers Defeat Blacktown Spartans 2-0 In front of 4,116 fans on a clear but frosty night in Blacktown the Western Sydney Wanderers have defeated a spirited Blacktown Spartans outfit by 2 goals to 0. After a score-less first half Mark Bridge crept up at the back post to tap in a well worked cross from a right wing move. This was followed by a headed goal from Ricky Zucco allowed the large crowd to go home happy. Several changes from the first match were made in the line-up. Tyson was replaced as the substitute goalkeeper by Nick Munro. The most impressive player of the night was Kubi. He made several darting runs and took on his man on several occasions leading to a number of chances. Aaron Mooy again pulled the strings in the Wanderers midfield and I personally hope we can get him to sign a contract extension because his class has been on display in both matches and he could be the buy of the season if that form can grow and continue into the full season. The Wanderers next match is next Wednesday the 8th of the 8th, against Blacktown City at the Lilly Holmes Stadium, Blacktown. Click here to view the article

Redhead Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Loved it! We sat in the stand this time. When the announcer said something about thanking everyone for coming out tonight for the Wanderers and the Spartans, the people sitting behind us said, "We didn't come here for the Spartans. We've just driven from Canberra today for the Wanderers." The kids sitting in front of us were tapping feet to the beat of the RBB drums - another good sign. Well folks, I think we have arrived!! People driving from Canberra (and Goulburn, possibly Lithgow) to see us - and it's only our second game - and it's only the pre-season. I'm stoked!
ge0rge10 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Paric and Zucco looked good for mine. Appiah will be a crowd favourite. D'Apuzzo was much better than I thought. I was sitting in the stands and the RBB sounded great from there, esp in the first half, well done lads.
DeeDee Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) Once again Mooy was class, expect nothing less of him. Kubi was awsome, and will only get better! He's so comfortable on the ball and he is so quick! Should definently be starting on the bench come game 1 for us. Adam D'Apuzzo is poor, really hope we don't sign him up. As soon as there is any ball pressure on him he is lost, bad passing game under pressure. Jason Trifiro was average this game. The surprise trialist for me was Ricky Zucco, thought he had a touch of class in his touches and shots. Would prefer him over Joey Gibbs. The only disappointing thing for me is none of the midfielders have impressed me (besides Mooy). Really need to sort this out or we will find it very hard in the a-league. ALSO, interesting sighting. I saw the Terry Mcflynn snooping around with a friend at the match! Edited August 1, 2012 by DeeDee
julyaugustreno Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 From Canberra for a pre-season game - dedication. RBB was in full voice again - a lot more confident this time and seems like people are starting to get what to sing and when. a 4,000 strong crowd is extremely positive too! Mooy and Kubi were standouts for sure.

I saw the Terry Mcflynn snooping around with a friend at the match! I thought D'Apuzzo wasn't too bad, nothing fancy and definitely not a first choice player, but could do a job as a squad player. Please, please, please tell me we're not even thinking about signing Terry McFlynn!!!!!!!
matty Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Wouldn't hurt to have some cheap experience in case of injuries
ge0rge10 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Sorry, forgot to say that Mooy was brilliant, a class above everyone else! If he can stay fit and keep producing this kinda football once the league starts he might be gone back to Europe before we start our finals campaign!!!!!

Please, please, please tell me we're not even thinking about signing Terry McFlynn!!!!!!! He wasn't too bad when there was no pressure, he would jus keep possession rolling. But as soon as he was pressured he would loose the ball a lot, and his passes were then wayward. Depth, i can live with, but only at Left Back. Id hope we would have much better options in midfield come kickoff. I know right!! I would rip up my newly bought membership if we signed Mcflynn!!...... Kidding. Id be pissed tho!

McFlynn was one of the main reasons why SFC were so painful to watch over the last few years.
matty Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Ok when I first heard McFlynn was at the game I figured he was a spectator. You boys have just put a bit of doubt in my mind, stop it!
MrJuventus1981 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Should of knee capped him ... Therefore making him fail the medical ... Just kidding (maybe)
DeeDee Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 haha, my guess is he's just snooping for sydney fc. I wouldn't want to injure him, means he wouldn't play!
Kizza Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Hopefully the bulk of these visa players we have heard about are midfielders.

DeeDee Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Hopefully the bulk of these visa players we have heard about are midfielders. Yes... None have impressed me. How come Panni Nikas hasnt trained or trialed with us?
Taurus Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Did anyone notice if Devante Clut got any game time? He's only a 16 y.o. kid.
Jowel Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Pity I couldn't make it. Had training. Looks like a great turnout. How did the RBB go?
Redhead Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 haha, my guess is he's just snooping for sydney fc. I wouldn't want to injure him, means he wouldn't play! I think you are right DeeDee - I saw a few people in SFC supporters' gear in the stand. They were not players, and I nearly asked one if he was changing colours, but thought better of it - he was way bigger than I am!
essdub Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Should of knee capped him ... Therefore making him fail the medical ... Just kidding (maybe) but not really.
ge0rge10 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Did anyone notice if Devante Clut got any game time? He's only a 16 y.o. kid. Yeah, he was one of the last subs on, didn't really have much time to do anything.
Jowel Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Lol, Tarek On a bitterly cold night, more than 4000 fans turned out for the free entry match and Elrich said the crowd figure was another sign of the growing bond. “It’s just a pre-season game but you saw, the fans were chanting, throwing flares. It’s great. You feel like you’re playing an actual comp game,†http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/247109,tarek-you-can-feel-the-buzz.aspx

MISFIT Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Crazy support from the RBB at last night's game, cant wait for the season to start!
wasp Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I couldn't make this one looked like a great turnout, 4,000 plus for a friendly fantastic. I was at the first and enjoyed it, I was at the RBB end and the noise was great, needs a bit of time to get things going and get numbers but looking good. Was the cohession better last night ? The only thing that I don't want are flares, the the non football people are not familiar with the fact that organized flare and other tifo events are part of the game outside of Australia. However we are here and they unfortunately do not belong. The press will have a field day and look at this as the main thing on game nights in reports. We don't want to see this as headlines. It will affect the average punter who wants to go but the flare aspect is foreign to them. So please do not use flares, those who do should be expelled and should never be part of the supporters group if they already are. Remember we need to build a team from the start to connect with the broad community and this will not do any good if people see it in the papers in the future. I will welcome the day when (if) flares are made part of the pre game build up with organized controlled letting off with sanction from the authorities. It may never happen but in the meantime don't.
