Ikonomidis reminds me of Troisi and countless other players that had a lot of hope to start with and then eventually settle into being OK A-league players. He's not going to set the world on fire but can do the job in the right team.

I think his ACL detailed his career. Many never fully recover from a year out.  I imagine there's psychology in it as well. Perhaps that was also a symptom of a body that is not up to the full rigours of football.

Ikon is probably the biggest waste of talent of an Australian player maybe with the exception of Arzani. Troisi is a better attacking mid/wing-forward than Ikon and performed well in multiple clubs. Ikon got capped for Australia before he'd played a first team game but never got a Serie A cap, then dropped down to Serie B where he sucked, then to Denmark where he sucked, then came to WSW on loan to finally had something approaching a decent half-season. Instead of staying here he went to Perth & had his one good season before doing his ACL which has wrecked him.

Troisi actually got a go in Serie A, and had 4 good seasons in Turkey before that, had an exceptional season in 2013/14 at Victory then a good for it's level season in Belgium. He also won the Asian Cup for us in 2015 and only since he turned 31+ has his career wound down to similar levels to Ikon. Before that he would also pick up almost 1 to 1 ratio of assists for his goals too, Ikon rarely gets assists to go with his fewer goal tally.

Our vaccine hesitant friend was a good player, he was past it by the time he came to us though

Apparently Victory said no to him leaving.

Bulls are steadily filling their playing roster. What are we up to?

Gets his fair share of yellow cards so should fit in well.
