Minimum 5 week ban if found guilty and we'll know within next 2-3 days.

5 week ban seems about right IMO

5 weeks put him out of the finals but could play the rest of the champions league games

I reckon if found guilty the club will send him packing.

I hope not, but instinct tells me that this is what they will do.

I wouldn't be happy about it but would cop it.

5 weeks minimum.

If he's found guilty then they will throw the book at him I reckon.

However from what I understand it's his word against that of abbas. I heard that the FC witnesses mentioned in that article are pretty much only reporting what Abbas told them, that they didn't hear it themselves. How true that is I don't know (but I suspected that at the time after Gameiro's tweet).

No way will he get the minimum.

Can't really put a timeframe on how long one should be banned for for this type of incident. If he misses finals; I'm ok with it.

Just as long as there is substantial evidence against him; and not just hear-say.

?? hasn't it already been said no other player is saying whether he said it or not and it can not be heard by any of the microphones etc how is he going to be proven guilty?? or will they tell us what evidence was given to prove him guilty if he is??

When has the FFA ever been shy about banning people despite having no evidence of them doing anything wrong???

that is true for us as fans but we are just westy scum to them we cant make much noise if they ban us with no evidence however this is been flooded by the media so they are going to have to show some kind of evidence if he is been found guilty and if not then it will probably be better for us as we can then show not only that there is unjust ruling against us fans but the players as well

The mandatory minimum punishment is massive overkill given the context of this situation.

It is a hard one but you would think that the FFA want to make an example to show everyone that they are stamping racism out of the game.

The length of the tribunal hearing means that it is not clear cut and that a decision won't be forthcoming anytime soon. From what I read they will be having another meeting of similar length once the sets of lawyers have time for it.

In regards to the club and Santa. The fact that they have stood beside him and backed him publicly means I can't see them imposing any further sanction than the one handed down by the FFA. If he was found guilty, and Santa admitted it himself then I could see the club taking further action but this is not the case.

In regards to the evidence of the other Sydney FC players, if they had compelling evidence then I don't think the hearing would have lasted as long as it did.

Innocent until proven guilty.

You can't make an example of an innocent person.

Im pretty sure it was Gibbs that racially abused Abbas anyways.

so if he is found guilty on abbas' word, apart from it being open season on accusations, surely he would have every right to then sue the club for wrongful dismissal/termination, not to mention damages to his reputation and potential earnings.

He said she said wont stand up in a real court.

I'll be really disappointed in Santa if he is found guilty (evidence proving he is guilty I might add, none of this he said she said BS),

if he is Guilty, why couldnt he have come out earlier and said it, punishment probably would have ended by now and Media would have gotten over it (although doubtful as its another shot at Football).

However, innocent until proven (evidence required) guilty.

Without any impartial 3rd party evidence it will be hard to see the charges sticking. The suggestion that Abbas' reaction is enough evidence to convict is ludicrous. The statements of any of the players can only be taken so far, they aren't exactly lacking bias in the situation.

It's interesting that there's been little to no mention of video footage of the incident, surely if there was someone would have employed a lip reader to decipher what may have been said, if in fact, anything was actually said.

In my honest opinion, something was said, it may not have been said with any sort of venom and was more of a 'heat of the moment' situation. That said though, if he has said anything racial/religious then he does need to be sanctioned and then we can all move on. I think, in the end, there will insufficient evidence to find him guilty and he will be warned and nothing will come of it.

Apparently it went on till 11PM on Monday, Santa denied eveything whilst Abbas was questioned for

Hours and had witnesses come up for him using evidence of "what Abbas told them"

It was adjourned as there was no solution to it....

Any self respecting organisation would of ended the court case right then and there.

FFA's gotta do something with their spare time. No flares, no brawls, thank heavens for racism.

Joel Griffiths was found guilty of racially abusing a match official last season and got a 3 match ban. If Santalab gets found guilty of racially abusing a player he gets a minimum of 5 matches. Way to be consistent FFA...

It's to fall in line with new FIFA guidelines when dealing with racism, hasn't been in that long I don't think.

It's to fall in line with new FIFA guidelines when dealing with racism, hasn't been in that long I don't think.

It's also because Griffiths was charged with ''use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures against a match official''. The discriminatory element was unfortunately missed by the officials, so he only received a three match ban for abusive language.

Not everything is a conspiracy, even if Griffiths' admission after the fact makes the application of the law ( should Santalab be found guilty) look inconsistent.

Hilarious to see Wanderers fans defending people's rights to be racist.

I eagerly await your glowing tributes to Kevin Sheedy and Andrew Bolt in tifo form.
