as much as i love what Covic did for us i honestly wouldnt really want him now he made some really dumbarse decisions the last year he was with us

still if he does sign he will be the first wanderers player to move to the blue part of the city

It's not very popular from our end, the club has been careful to ensure that no photo's of him was released at training.

A solid second option and would challenge for the number 1 spot, Vedran needs to be pushed

sometimes you need a back up keeper to motivate the main keeper and that is pretty much all you need them for

Pushed or not, Vedran is what he is. He's got a blunder in him. Even in games when it didn't cost them, he dropped the odd cross etc.

TBH, Ante is the best option for first WSW to ESFC move. For a couple of reasons:

1. He did it via another A-League club; and

2. He is the Great Wall of Asia who single-glovedly won us the ACL.

I have no issue with players going to any club once we release them. It is a job and it would be stupid to think that if he can get a contract he won't just to please us.

I'm sure that people will not have an issue going to a competitor is they lose their job with a company... should not be any different for players.

Someone has to be the first to go from West to East (even if it's via Perth) and be over and done with. I hope he has a few more years left in the tank to continue on. Still one of the top five goal keepers in the league.

Loving the mature aged (non youth) player approach to recruitment from Arnie this season   :cheeky:

I still don't understand why we let him go

Yes you do. He had a shocking year in 2014-15 and many were saying he was past it. Popa chose to let him go earlier than later.

as much as i love him for what he did for us previously he did make some stupid decisions and seemed to want to be a sprinter considering how many times he ran for the ball and let the opposition score with an open goal

Redders is a far more cost effective option who had very little to do last season, all things considered.

Not sure if Spider joining as GK coach had something to do with it. After all they were colleagues at the 2006 WC.

And yes, post ACL final Ante seemed somewhat inconsistent.

If he signs with SFC I will still have respect for him and I would hope he'd show the same back to us.

It was good seeing him come over to us after the Perth home game last season, we still applaud him and he applauds us.

He's on his way out, he deserves to play for as long as he can no matter where that may be.

he is playing a long term troll,

will bust his backside to get a start in the derby, then when its 0-0 with 1 to go he'll step aside, let the ball roll into the back of his net, drop his gloves and walk off giving it to arnie.

Says in this article from a month ago that Perth has offered him a contract extension, but they've given him some time to think it over due to his family staying in Sydney. If ESFC offered him a deal it would be good news for him and his familyhttps://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/31863107/covic-to-mull-glory-future/

They did make Ante an offer, but have subsequently signed Reddy

Ante didn't want to go to Perth as he wanted to be closer to his family based in Western Sydney. I'd imagine once Ante turned it down, they moved on to the next option

TBH, Ante is the best option for first WSW to ESFC move. For a couple of reasons:

1. He did it via another A-League club; and

2. He is the Great Wall of Asia who single-glovedly won us the ACL.

3. He wanted to be close to his family

4. He still believes that he has much to offer as a goal keeper at Aleague level

5. He wants to prove someone wrong (even if it was only a small part of his decision)

How much did he have a desire to coach?

Remember when that was the supposed succession plan and then we got kalac. Maybe there's been a carrot offered in that regard as well.
