Is Mooy injured or was he dropped for the ACL games?

i think he got dropped too...

hard to judge his start of the season because he got knocked out in round 3 (i've seen athletes take 6-12 months to recover fully and get back to best form after getting ko'd like that), but since january when he allegedly signed with heart/city he seemed to me to be sometimes disinterested and just doing his own thing and having fun himself by trying every tricky pass or shot on goal instead of doing the team thing.

anyway in a salary capped league there are always going to be players that get offered much more at another club so good on him, i mostly enjoyed watching him play actually, i hope he does well at city just not against us.

here's a prediction...i reckon in 5-7 years as he matures as a person and a player that he'll become a very good player, he's got all the skills and fitness, he just needs to be able to apply it all in the right manner...

I saw Mooy walking near the northwestern grandstand with this other chick around the 85th minute, I think right after we scored the 2nd goal.

He was just walking casually and didn't look happy at all.

Pretty much a neutral face, looked like he didn't want to be there.

I can't imagine being disinterested in your current club when your current club is doing so well!?

Grand final, ACL? Surely signing for a bottom of the table club is not more interesting than where WSW are?

doesn't like being on the bench i think or thought he was worth more than was offered but who knows

don't know that he would be regretting his decision because if reports were true that he's getting $300,000 at city that's maybe double what he would have got if he stayed...

I was sitting about 20m to the left of where that video was taken. (hence, SaintWanderer)

Have to agree with kiza, after the grand final performance and probably a few off training session, his mind is else where! It's not a case of him not wanting to be here but it's a case of him thinking of the new team being built at city, he will be in a new town, new team and new surroundings and his mind was elsewhere. He is already thinking about getting ready for his pre season in the next couple of weeks and probably didn't want to risk himself. Popa probably has noticed this and is probably the reason for the lack of game time he has received in the last few weeks of the season.

I just don't buy the head knock theory, yes it has happened in the past but I feel that's just an excuse. I feel his best last performance for us was that substitute game was the heart but it having game time week in week out has had a real mental impact of him thinking at (supposed) greener pastures.

Good luck Aaron, I hope playing for heart/city satisfies your need for more game time and a fatter pay cheque! As cynical as that sounds, I hope the future bodes well for him and I hope that he gets his move overseas that will make him a better player!

I last saw him at the Western Stands with a chick on the 85th minute, looking very glum.

I'd be sad too if I didn't have a chance to play in the quarter finals of the Asian Champions League when I could've had I not moved to another club, to be fair.

To tell you the truth, after the shift he put in at the grand final it really wasn't good enough. We had one DCM substitution on the bench and popa expected him to come on and make a difference! He was one of the players who had plenty of rest in the last couple of weeks not playing full matches of acl/aleague, he should have been fresh ready to do something special! Instead his head wasn't in the game (popa probably picked up a vibe in training) and he is thinking of his new team, new club and new surroundings which is hard to focus or want to risk himself if he is going to play a big role in his new team.

Can't forget or not remember his contribution to the team over the past 2 seasons because he was integral to our success. Wish him all the best in his future hoping that city satisfies his need for a bigger pay packet, more playing time and possibly his preferred position too! Though I hope he does get picked up overseas in Europe again because that is how he will take to another level, not sure heart/city will be best for him but all the best to him!

Did anyone else notice that Mooy has been confirmed as signing with Heart for some time now and legit got zilcho in the farewells?

Well Melbourne Heart has just put on their Facebook & Twitter pages that they've secured him for 2 years. FINALLY confirmation of what we already knew haha.

(Was there actually any "confirmation" before that?)

A bit sad to see us losing a local Western Sydney boy, but what can you do.

When he first arrived I thought he would end up being a key player for years to come and could have been a World Cup bolter. Didn't really match that in his first year, and got worse in the second.

I thought there was a newspaper article that came out after john tsatsimas came out and said he wasn't being signed, saying he had signed on the dotted line for city? Oh well, moot point now I guess

Pretty sure there was a newspaper article that said we'd signed Ballack. Until I hear it directly from the club or the player I assume it's click bait.

Yeah it was more in response to the post about the papers saying that he'd signed ages ago. I believe that he's gone now.

I get some of the grumpiness and dissing of AM, particularly with his less than stellar effort in the GF and perhaps his diffident manner in dealing with the last few weeks publicly. However for all the negativity let's remember here was a local lad who came back to be part of the foundation squad and whilst he may not have delivered on his promise he did wear the red and black with more honour than some other clubs' players don theirs. I hope he plays well enough for Heart/City except when up against us, and in the long run if he can get over his personal insecurities and become more technically efficient in a role more suited to his talents then perhaps he could be a Socceroo of some experience.
