Wanderers To Play At Olympic Park

I'd like to join the chorus singing "there's no issue with AFL grounds". I was there with Pup when Haliti gave us that draw at Subiaco, it only took 8 of us to create a wild atmosphere.

The players knew it too, that's why Haliti ran over and hugged us when he scored, Popa clapped us at half time and Paschildis came down from the box to join in.

If both us and victory are doing well, the games are scheduled during school holidays or public holidays and its advertised well, wanderers vs victory at ANZ could be a good idea. Wouldn't be a massive crowd but could be more than would fit spotless.

Some of the worlds most famous football stadiums are ovals and/or have running tracks around them. I can think of the Olympiastadion, Stadio Olimpico and Maracana just off the top of my head. I'm sure we will be fine for a couple of years. 

i need to ask a odd question and i dont know if anyone will know but if i am in row P in parramatta stadium(bay 1 but not sure if important), what is a comparable height seating wise in spotless and ANZ?

also i thought i would quickly comment i thought the club made a good decision i love how they are rewarding loyalty, i dont give a **** if we are playing in a cheese factory i am still attending every match, the fact that the club has already created a FAQ on many things people are wondering is amazing communication and impressive.

If you're in the bottom tier you won't be any higher than at Parramatta. The bottom tiers are a lot less steep as they go back than at Parramatta.

There are certain referees who turn most A-League games into a cheese factory already. 

There is a fair chance we could blast the roof off spotless if the boys get on a roll and we pack the joint. I don't mind it at all.

We can't play games at Penrith or Campbeltown (other than unticketed one offs) because unlike your small club, our membership base has actually outgrown those stadiums. (Hence why we're getting a new one built for us).

Meanwhile, you'll now have to travel even further for your 'local' away Sydney derby. How inconvenient. It could be worse I suppose, we could have to catch a 45 minute train and then walk another 20 minutes to see our team at a 'home' match.

Dividing games between Penrith and Campbelltown would have stayed true to the Western Suburbs team vision IMO, instead of moving 10km east. It's supposed to be three seasons but major construction works are often delayed. For your sake I hope there's a re-vote, maybe after a few games when fans realise how bad the stadium is for football.

Can't fill a 19K stadium to more than 65% capacity for most games.. so you need a 30-35K one?

Time will tell. Your small stadium is what drove up the membership numbers in the first place. Even a respectable 15K that produced a bouncing atmosphere at Pirtek will feel empty in a 35K stadium. For this reason I hope Allianz doesn't get upgraded. We'll look like Roar games if that goes ahead.

Both only sell mid strength.

What is the distance between the goal posts and the Active Area at the two grounds. What was the average attendance at our home games this season. Of those that voted what was the most popular choice if ANZ/Spotless weren't. What happened to the overwhelming no to ANZ sentiment on this forum. Where did all the people go.

The whole point is to progress and grow our crowds in modern stadiums. Not to go to Penrith and Campbelltown and average 12k.

Has the club given a guarantee that after the new stadium is built all home games will be played in Parramatta?

The driving force behind #notoanz was the fear that playing there would weaken our bid for a new stadium. That appears to have gone our way, but still #notoanz.

In regards to views of the action at Spotless, Subiaco stuck us in the furthest corner yet we could still see the action fine. Players were still larger than life

Meanwhile Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said the choice of Spotless Stadium was the result of balancing the needs of members, supporters and the club, while it waits for Pirtek Stadium to be rebuilt.

The first derby of next season will be played at ANZ Stadium, most likely in rounds one or two, with hopes of breaking the regular season attendance record for the league.

“We considered a number of venues across the Western Sydney landscape, but these (Spotless and ANZ) are the two venues that best suited us,†Tsatsimas said.

“There was a raft of opinion from members, but the overwhelming preference from a holistic point of view was for these venues. We’re fortunate we can house ourselves at two venues with different capacities and can provide us with perfect facilities.

“There are a number of factors we had to consider and that (the oval shape) was one. But it’s an amazing facility for fans, and operationally speaking it’s one of the best. While we have challenges in that space we’ll be very excited to go back to a configuration the Wanderers know at Parramatta.â€
