  • Wanderers New Kits Leaked

    mack

The new Western Sydney Wanderers kits for the upcoming season were leaked today.

Barring a massive hoax, details and photographs were leaked on social media earlier today.

If the leak is true, the home kit retains the red & black colours with the amount of hoops being increased. The other major change is the A-League logo & Nike logo have been swapped to have the Nike logo above the A-League logo. Personally I think the A-League logo needs to be moved onto the shirt sleeve like virtually every major league in the world.

The away kit matches the number of hoops from the home kit, but the away colours have changed from red & white, to a silver/grey & white. It has yet to be seen if the shorts colour has been changed to the popular option of black. The existence of a third kit is also unconfirmed.

This could be the last season Nike make the kits for the Wanderers, as the initial three year deal expires after this season, and rumours are swirling that Adidas will swoop in with a larger offer. This would be in line with their Adidas' aggressive strategy of taking over Nike merchandise rights, such as the recent switch by Manchester United from Nike to Adidas.

The official release is set for Wednesday the 6th with an event at the Newington Armoury.

finally, an away kit that doesn't have some of the same colours as the home kit! Now if some other teams could follow suit...

From the photo that I have seen, the material looks weird. But it is a pretty crappy photo. I won't really say anything until I see the photos from Wednesday.

IMO, I prefer thicker hoops. With QPR, last seasons kit was a hit, but this year we will have thin hoops because we have to have a nike catalogue kit this year. The thicker looks better for QPR, but I will not say anything until I see it from the club.

If it's this club it will be damn good and I will buy it anyway

I would doubt that nike would want one of its biggest selling jersey's in Australia lost to a competitor and lose a popular brand. If it does happen it would be a big win by the club!

They lost Man U. In the end it will come down to the companies individual projections. Nike's hooped designs are all fairly similar so releasing a similar kit year after year means sales plateau. Whereas a completely new hooped template coming in from Adidas will likely mean a spike in sales just because it's different.

Therefore Nike would expect to sell say, $1 million worth of shirts (based on previous years etc) and so will bid accordingly, whereas Adidas might project they'll sell $4 million because it's a very new design and so will bid more.

It's a win win for club and supporters.

As someone with a thick neck, I'm disappointed they have ditched the V neck for the crew neck.

I'm not completely sold on the new look home jersey, but I wasn't sold on the training jersey on the photos - but it looked pretty good and half decent in person!

To me, it is day light to the old training jersey! Thank goodness it isn't the away Jersey this year :)

My son won't be getting either because his top from last season still fits well and the price for kids is a **** rip off, he will get another season out of last years top.

I prefer the items like the polo tops personally.

I like the away. It was either that or an esfc style away kit after the so-so reception of the incumbent

What's the story on FFA Cup kits? Do I remember something about teams using a unique kit for that competition? It could be elective, though.

I'd like to see a 3rd kit that's essentially a very dark version of the home, so there's still a hint of red but it's almost black.

The horizontal hoops are so unbecomming to those of us who are horizontally challenged.

    Horizontally gifted?

    Challenged sounds like thin!

Wait. Im not calling you fat.

    • In many ways thats the A-League, only SFC, MV, WSW, Perth (if they can ever get a decent side again), similar for the Roar are going to get decent crowds... more recently Auckland as well.... just off the pace is Newcastle if they can get a decent side and Adelaide..  all the rest struggle.... Its kinda why WSW is important to the league as a whole.... over 200K registered players, by my count 11 former NSL clubs and large state league clubs... parts of WS are Football heartland especially in the south west... and more recently the Hills playing numbers are exploding...
    • Yes 3 x men's derbies - 1-2 loss > 4-2 loss > 3-3 draw 2 x women's derbies - 1-0 loss > 0-2 loss Combined goal difference = -6
    • Are we P 5 W 0 D 1 L 4 for our season derbies so far? The GD would be shocking too.  It would be embarrassing to the club if they gave a ****
