  • Wanderers Call Member Vote On ACL Venue

    mack

The Western Sydney Wanderers have called on their members to vote on the venue for their Asian Champions League Final home leg.

Members have been contacted by email and asked to log in to the membership site to vote by 12pm tomorrow.

The unusual step could be part of an appeal by the club to convince the AFC the match should be played at Parramatta Stadium rather than alternative venues such as the Sydney Football Stadium or ANZ.

Parramatta stadium is our home ground.

If these billionaire Arabs want better facilities then they can build a new stadium for us.

what's the cost to them, a few gold covered ferraris?

If they start now it could be ready in 2 weeks just by hiring every wog concreter in western sydney.

Billionaire Arab owners can hire a massive blimp and watch the game from above.  We just have to remember not to set off any maritime safety devices.

I voted Parramatta, not because of me and my desire for tickets but because the club plays better at home. I am not worried about losing my seat but am more worried about us winning our HOME leg. Not our play it down the road leg.

Honestly am surprised by how many people are giving up and already voting Allianz.

P.S - Erebus you are on fire. Could not be more right.

If you are not voting parra you are not supporting the team after all what evidence do you have that the team could do well at those two stadiums?

    Its parramatta for the team

stick together and stand our ground.

I reckon the game won't be moved or not based on this survey.

I suspect it's being done to gauge members views of Allianz v anz in the event AFC want it played elsewhere & parra has been included to stop people panicking omg they're moving the game!

The AFC had been concerned on two levels – first that its showpiece event should appear on TV screens in front of as big a crowd as possible, but also over the lack of dedicated and secure facilities for visiting dignitaries and Al-Hilal’s billionaire owners.

The club’s president is Abdulrahman bin Musa’ad, one of the most affluent men in Saudi Arabia and a member of the country’s royal family.

And there will be plenty of eating options for the dignitaries on Church Street even if they can't get a Wanderdog at the game.

Can't believe the amount of comments I'm reading around the joint with sentiments of:"lets get 40-80k!!""we'll show em a big crowd!""we need to grow our support base!""its an event! the ANZ members will turn up too!!"parra is too small!"Erebus says:**** that! Every member will get a ticket since you have priority. This is a game that should be a reward for the members that have been through everything, not some theatre goers going to an "event" that will absorb the atmosphere and take away our edge.We have not conceded at home since Match Day 1. Parra is an intimate intimidating atmosphere. It is our HOME!They asked us 2.5 years ago where we wanted to play. #NOTOANZ was the result. We WANTED Parra. Now people are seriously considering throwing that out the window so we lose whatever competitive edge we have so 10k more people can show up?Get farked. This is an ACL final. We might never be here again. We need whatever edge we can to win this game.#YesToWanderland and it gives more ammo for a proper upgrade for Parra./rantPS, its only the 1st leg. All the theatre goers will be confused.

You don't think that 45,000 people at the first year grand final was intimidating? Showing that we have the demand for the Allianz shows we need a bigger stadium just as much as selling out parramatta stadium does

Not having a did Prydz, BUT what I think, is that we might have won the grand final if it was at Parra.

Honestly mate that is all I care about this game. Winning.

    Impress others later.

Don't know who posted ( and does not matter ) about ANZ would be good so more away support could get in, strike me farked.

yeah, thats what we want, more away support  FMD  :woah:

Cup finals are usually a one-legged affair with the venue set in stone before the comp starts.

This is a 2-legged affair where each team plays at HOME.

    Why give up this advantage?

That's a very good point, but there's not a whole lot wrong with Allianz Stadium when its at capacity, it would make more of a better home-ground advantage with 35-40K wanderers fans (depending on how many fans Al-Hilal bring)

Ask the mariners players from our Season one grand final.

As awesome as it was, how'd that work out ?

Happily voted for the SFS. Easily the best football stadium in the land (if you ignore AAMI Park, that is).

To be perfectly frank I'm not at all concerned about leaving Parra for showpiece games - it's the commitment of the fans that matters, and as you have all shown the Wanderers fans will travel as far as necessary to show their support for the team. If we can harness that and get more casuals to come along and join the fun, then that's a fantastic outcome.

As for rewarding members... Meh, so long as I get a chance to buy a seat, I'm all for giving others a chance to come along to a larger stadium.

    Just not to ANZ.

Anyway, I expect that decisions will be made no matter the views of the fans, but it was nice to be asked.

I don't post much on here but I've just gone through the WSW page on FB and the number of people advocating ANZ is staggering, including WSW members!

    Here here!!

I'm also at a complete loss as to why people are choosing anything but parra! It's our spiritual home. This is where our best memories are. This is where we all became true Wanderers. But most importantly, well pretty much everything that has been said in this quoted post.

Cmon lets all get behind our home!
