RBB Silent Protest – Sunday 10th of March 2013

During the Western Sydney Wanderers vs Wellington Phoenix A-League match this coming Sunday, the 10th of March 2013, the RBB will be conducting a peaceful silent protest for the first 20 minutes of the match. The reasons for this protest are that over the course of the season, 20 RBB members have received unjust and baseless bans by Hatamoto and Football Federation Australia. We stand by our banned brothers who have helped make the RBB what it is today.

    Our specific reasons include:

    * The harshness of the 5 year bans.

    * These bans are given with no supporting evidence.

    * Bans are being given for alleged and unproven participation in events far outside the scope of Football Federation Australia.

    * That the Hatamoto ban system lacks the Australian ideal of the 'fair go', with no fair trial, no evidence, no representation and no appeal available.

    * The refusal of Football Federation Australia and Hatamoto to provide evidence to those who are banned.

    * The refusal of Football Federation Australia to accept witness statements that refute Hatamoto's evidence.

    * The constant and overwhelming prescence of heavily armed police within and in front of active support bays.

    * Hatamoto gathering dossiers on "potential trouble makers", recording people without consent, to the extent of monitoring supporter movements by under-cover police, as well as illegally tapping the phones of RBB members.

    * Deliberately provoking RBB members who are busy keeping the Church Street march going in a safe and orderly fashion.

The protest aims for the following outcomes:

    * Bans related to the Royal Exhibition Hotel scuffle and the W-League pitch 'invasion' to be revoked.

    * An appeal system or judiciary system to be put into place in a similar manner to an on-field judiciary, to promote a transparent and open process, with all evidence being presented openly and honestly to all parties involved, and allowing people to represent or be represented at these hearings, with a decision determined by a fair, neutral third party.

    * A system to be put into place for the FFA to educate and protect the rights of supporters against private security firms and the Police while attending FFA events.

This decision was not made lightly. After spending much of the season attempting to contact FFA and resolve these bans, including speaking with A-League boss, Damien DeBohun at the Football Supporter Forum, the RBB has been stonewalled at every turn.

This protest is not aimed at the players or coaching staff in any way. You know who we sing for, and will do as we always do every week at the conclusion of the protest.

The RBB pays respect to the combined North Terrace of Melbourne Victory supporters and those in Adelaide, both having held similar protests as a result of similar mistreatment by Hatamoto, the FFA and their local Police and security.

For those in the RBB and North End of Parramatta Stadium please follow the instructions of RBB Members and Capos as a unified response is required. Those not in the North Stand we also encourage you to participate.

    Shoulder to Shoulder.

The cappo is in charge of selecting the song. The cappo will have a better idea of what song needs to be used depending on the situation of the game and the level of atmosphere needed. We shouldnt turn up predicting what songs will be sung in what order except for the poznan on the 80

who do we sing for should be first i think, because it will straight away give back the atmosphere that the protest will take away, plus the whole stadium will get involved.

That's the worst possible chant to break the protest. Anything but that, but yeah whatever the capo does, I just hope we aren't put in an awkward situation with the Eastern stand trying to start up a call and response, which I think is highly likely. Can you imagine if we don't respond? It wouldn't be so epic if we them tried to start it with them after silence.

WDYSF is the worst possible chant to start with after you have not been singing for 20 minutes.  Too much irony to cope with!  Also, you don't know how non-RBB people feel about the protest.  The remarks on FaceBook are pretty negative.  The RBB might get booed, not cheered.  Most people who do not support the protest think it is selfish and not fair to our team.  If we lose, the RBB will be blamed for not being the 12th man for the full 90 minutes, especially if Wellington score goals in the protest time.

Let's just all hope we win this game.  For the RBB to lose the support of the fans when everything has worked so well to make Parramatta Stadium our fortress, would be devastating.

There was a good shot of the 'Hatamoto Out' banner when shinji took the penalty.

    Well done.

Well I stand corrected. Thank goodness for that. The Eastern stand chanting RBB sent shivers down my spine and who do we sing for was the only chant to do. Epic.

Pretty certain the message was heard, it wasn't long before the security guards were forced to remove the signs. Well done guys on organising a fantastic, peaceful protest

Is there any chance of the 20 banned lawyering up to take Hatamoto on? There are lots of little nazis in corporations who think they are laws unto themselves and have no regard to the law of the land. Sometimes all that needs to happen is for these nazis to be taken to court only to have their arses handed to them for breaking the law. I understand the expense would be the deal breaker here.

The other thing that they could think of doing is contacting the dept of fair trading and state that they are being denied what they paid for - entry into the game for no reason/made up reason. I know it's a funny way of looking at it but then again Al Capone was brought down for something as minor as tax evasion.

Or if the guys banned make up a particular ethnicity then claim racial discrimination - the onus is then on Hatamoto to prove that they have not racially doscriminated. Possible thoughts on smoking out the 'reasons' anyway.

On another thread there was also talk of RBB being held from leaving the game for 30 minutes. This is a real concern if it wasn't to do with safety but only to treat the RBB like criminals. There is a law on the books for "false imprisonment", that is holding someone against their will.

There was a case a few years back where a girl was held against her will at Westfield Parramatta and surrounded by security guards who wouldn't let her leave. She sued the crap out of them and had to settle with her. Also a case where a bus driver got the shits with one person on a bus and drove all the passengers to a police station and the bus company got taken to court by the passengers for "false imprisonment" for holding the passengers against their will when they wanted to get off.

    Thats my 2 cents anyway

Congratulations guys on the peaceful protest on Sunday. Amazing how dead things can be without the RBB and their lead to the western and eastern terraces and grandstands. I agree Hatamoto must be seen to be doing something to justify their contracts. That leads to an abuse of power and is no doubt happening so all power to you. I confess though when the east and west starting chanting RBB! RBB! RBB! I was very proud of all the supporters and had a lump in my front when the RBB stood as one to begin their wonderful chants Who Do We Sing For? I have never seen anything like that in sport ever here in Oz and I have watched a lot of sport, not just soccer. I am a Wanderers member and supporter who sits in Bay 47 on the West Terrace and I really admired your earnest attempts on Sunday to get a view across. You have convinced the paying public. Its obvious you have their support. Never do anything to lose that because it is your greatest strength. Well done guys. And go the Wanderers.
