  • RBB 7-a-Side Tournament + BBQ this Sunday

    mack

The Red & Black Bloc organised 7 a side tournament will take place this weekend at Eric Primrose Reserve, Rydalmere.

The 7 a side tournament was a direct result of a suggestion from the forum here, and team places sold out very quickly.

In addition to the knockout tournament, the RBB will be holding a BBQ and selling merchandise, with all profits going into the RBB Tifo fund.

    Details

    Date: Sunday, August 11th.

Location: Eric Primrose Reserve, Rydalmere. Google Map Link

    Time: From 10am onwards.

I reckon it's a great idea and I love tournaments as a concept but the next one has to happen out of the regular playing  season.

I can't speak for all associations but we are playing the last game of our round robin series this weekend and hopefully the grand final in a couple of weeks if we win this weekend.  So there was never any chance of my team participating. Otherwise, I would have entered a team.

I reckon we can do the next one even bigger. 64 teams, with a masters division (O35) and a ladies comp at the Blacktown International Sports Centre.  I'm telling you, this could be huge.  I love six a side more than the 11 a side game and I know I'm not alone.

Enjoy the tournament lads (and ladies), I'm sure it will be a success.

new merch including RBB hats, patches and key rings have just arrived. Plus the last lot of RBB bar scarves will be sold off.

This will be one of the last opportunities to get merchandise prior to the season starting as the lead time to get more in is a number of weeks

As this is the first tournament it been kept very small, but next years one will be planned during weekend association off season hopefully and on a much larger scale

IN addition, the BBQ will be $5.00 and with that you get a soft drink and sausage/steak roll

Yeah they do fairly well from what I hear.

Small confession... I was part of the first ever Lokomotive Cove team who played the Marinators at Mingara many years ago and also helped set up the games against the Den at Suncorp too... were good times to be honest :)

    Hehe thank you ;)

It was a fantastic experience, the terribly sandy pitch at Suncorp did give me a nasty gash on my thigh though :( Would be amazing doing this with the RBB in front of the Parra Stadium crowd :)

Well, what a great day out

Thank you to all that attended, participated, helped out or who just came down for a laugh.

Big props to Jerrad Tyson who came down to watch the semis and grand final

The Grand Final was won by Parra City Elite who defeated Vagabundos 2-1 in what was a very intense and end to end final

They money raised will now be reinvested in more merchandise ready for the season opener and also invested into materials for people who want to  make flags and the upcoming season

    • In many ways thats the A-League, only SFC, MV, WSW, Perth (if they can ever get a decent side again), similar for the Roar are going to get decent crowds... more recently Auckland as well.... just off the pace is Newcastle if they can get a decent side and Adelaide..  all the rest struggle.... Its kinda why WSW is important to the league as a whole.... over 200K registered players, by my count 11 former NSL clubs and large state league clubs... parts of WS are Football heartland especially in the south west... and more recently the Hills playing numbers are exploding...
    • Yes 3 x men's derbies - 1-2 loss > 4-2 loss > 3-3 draw 2 x women's derbies - 1-0 loss > 0-2 loss Combined goal difference = -6
    • Are we P 5 W 0 D 1 L 4 for our season derbies so far? The GD would be shocking too.  It would be embarrassing to the club if they gave a ****
