  • Official March for Grand Final

    BigDukes

Ok All so here are the details for the day

    • 10am - 11:25am = Breakfast at woolpack Hotel
    • 11:30am march to Parramatta station to board the 11:42am train from Parramatta to Central Station (arrive at 12:15pm)
    • Pre match drinks will be held at the Aurora hotel (324 Elizabeth St Surry Hills NSW 2010) http://aurorahotel.com.au/

The Aurora has a capacity of 400-500 people so IF you do not get in there are a number of surrounding pubs in shouting distance you can filter into including:

    - Tailors on central

    - KB Hotel

    - Evening Star

    - Madison Hotel

    - Strawberry Hills

    - Bounce

    • At 2:15pm we will converge on the intersection of Elizabeth and Foveaux Street and begin the march to the Stadium

As usual there will be police presence around the usual stance on flares and anti social behaviour still stands, so lets just all go have a great day and enjoy the celebrations of this wonderful season

When I had to leave the west for uni I moved to Surry Hills, live on Foveaux street. Here is my Surry Hills bar report:

The manager at the kb is a wanderers supporter, even though it's supposedly a Sydney fc pub. Tailor's is mainly rugby league but I know a couple of the bar staff are smurfs. One of the bouncers at the strawberry hills hotel is from Toongabbie and he's funny as hell. The aurora's downstairs sports bar has tonnes of screens so there'll be something to look at while we're making a racket.

This has been my bar report.

That's all well and good, but you've neglected the most important part of my decision making process:

    Attractiveness of barmaids?

Nah mate, the piss is all cheap as piss, except the KB only does cheap jugs after 6, and i think the Strawb' is a bit more if memory serves. Definitely better value than Allianz still.

Oh, and there's a Thai joint halfway up Foveaux street called "Wandee Thai." I intend to convince them to change their name to "Wanderers Thai" for the weekend at least.

The best and most detailed information on this is in the opening post of this thread.

The Wanderers train can be boarded at any one of Granville, lidcombe, strathfield , Redfern stations, pretty handy

Anyone heading into Parra on the train from Emu Plains/Penrith for at least the Woolie Brekky? Looks like the best option is the 9.19am from Penrith which gets into Parra at 9.57am. Perhaps we can have a meet up at the station and come in together? That's also a most stops train so we can build up a nice sized contingent by the time we hit Parra

I'd be tempted to get on that train if I were sure I'd be able to get into the Woolie for the brunch.

Everyone will be leaving the Woolie together after breakfast, so you can't miss us.

Do the surry hills pubs know they are going to be in for an onslaught of red and black supporters. I have no doubt we will be getting over 4-5k drinking within the pubs around surry hills :D It will be absolute chaos

are we marching from where the buses usually take ppl to SFS/SCG from central station??? (or in that vicinity)

edit - Ive read directions, just trying to get my bearings lol, stay out of the city as much as possible.

Yes, the shuttle buses from Central leave from Chalmers St, almost at the foot of Foveaux Street Hill, where the march begins.

This could be the 2nd biggest march in Sydney after the Mardis gras ;)
