The Western Sydney Wanderers today have announced the creation of their Membership Referral bonus program.
The bonus program enables existing members to refer new members to the club and for all to receive bonuses, as well as a new competition for the most referrals.
When an existing member signs up between 1 to 5 members, all will receive a $10 voucher that can be used towards purchases at Parramatta Stadium of food, drinks or official club merchandise.
When 5 or more members are signed up, in addition to the voucher mentioned above, the referral member will earn a signed team photo with the existing member being sitting between the Coach and Captain.
The final reward is a competition where the person with the most referrals will win the prize.
The prize is the experience of travelling with the squad to an away match.
The club has also mentioned that they have added further benefits to the membership program. Looking at the Wanderers Membership page it appears that club is planning on having member only supporter functions as well as a draw to gain access to a post-match media conference.
Opinion:
This initiative can only be described as a positive. Any incentive to gain members is a good one and while the benefit is relatively small, for many people they will already have been wanting to get more members for the club so this is a good way to push it along. It also gives new members a minor benefit to signing up too.
The competition will almost surely be won by a local grassroots club joining together to win the prize in order to raffle it for fundraising, but again this is a good thing.
I will be looking forward to seeing in more detail the additional benefits described in the newsletter.
