Reports emerged today that Joey Gibbs, who had trialled with the club earlier in the pre-season has signed a contract to play for Wanderers for the coming season.

Gibbs, who scored four goals in the Wanderers debut match against Nepean FC was allowed to leave the club without winning a contract. However the impending season opener has forced the hand of manager Tony Popovic.

The ex-Marconi product had been set to join the Central Coast Mariners youth squad after they were unable to fit him into their first team squad but we understand that the Wanderers contacted Gibbs last Friday and he has signed for the first team for the Wanderers instead.
