    • The Offside changes should be an improvement but the interpretation of interfering with play is terribly wrong. VAR makes it worse.  If they need to draw lines then it isn't clear and obvious. I'd also prefer offside being based on the players feet instead of shoulder, head or whatever.  I tend to think the changes generally are aimed at making it easier for the referees (so they cop less criticism). But the changes to the rules and related guidelines mean the opposite is true.  The Handball situation is enough to discourage anyone to be a referee.  How the hell can a Handball by a defender be decided as the opposite to a Handball by an attacker? The rule makers should firstly revert to the old rules and then consider possible changes with the knowledge of the stuff ups they've made.  Etc, etc, etc!!!!!!!
    • We have more rules changes in the last 6 years than happened for 30 years. Some new rules are better like the kick-off and the drop ball. Handball is a still a nightmare for the referees  The current IFAB board is interventionist. It appears that the powers in charge want the ball in the net no matter if it is legal or not, at least for televised games. Illegally scored goals can be chaulked off by the Video Assistant Referee.  I think the main IFAB intervention guy is an Englishman
