Dino Kresinger scored the only goal of the match to give Wanderers the win against Parramatta FC in their home stadium debut.
The Wanderers dominated the game from start to finish but took until the 60th minute to break the deadlock. Parramatta FC's chances were few and far between, with their best being a goal disallowed for offside after a long range shot was deflected by a player who was adjudged to be offside. Kubi again was a standout as he constantly attacked his marker, taking on multiple men and drawing fouls. He caused major problems for the defense and is set to play a key role in the season proper.
The RBB had it's first pre-match at the Woolpack Hotel and I would say about double the social night numbers turned up. The march up Church Street was golden, with people stopping what they were doing to watch and record the RBB going past. A lot of new members who put work in and got the hang of the chants quickly. A number of new chants were done during the match and will add to the repertoire. Not a single moment of trouble occurred and RBB members should be proud of their ongoing efforts to improve as we gear up for Round 1.
The Wanderers next match is against Newcastle Jets. It will be played at 2pm, next Saturday the 15th September. The appropriately named Wanderers Oval, Broadmeadow will play host. This match has previously been said to be a Newcastle Jets only match, but there is talk from the club that it will be open to Wanderers members as well. We will await further confirmation from the club in the next few days.
