  • Derby Draw At Least We Didn't Lose

    mack

The final regular season Sydney Derby match ended without a Wanderers win, didn't end in a loss either.

Western Sydney haven't had the best results against Sydney FC in the past two seasons, but with top of the table beckoning, they came out and dominated the early stages against Sydney FC. A mere 13 minutes into the game the visitors had the opening goal. A simple run down the right flank for Mark Bridge, he cut back onto his favoured right foot, then launched a cross into the penalty area. Dario Vidosic was unmarked, and from 12 yards out glanced a header that was past Vedran Janjetovic in moments.

Sydney FC managed a fluke goal to get back on level terms just after half an hour. Scott Jamieson was beaten by Holosko to ball played in behind the Wanderers fullback, Holosko whipped a cross in along the turf that beat everyone to make way over to David Carney. The ex-Newcastle winger rolled the ball back into the penalty area to Alex Brosque, and his backheel flick deflected off Jamieson and trickled past debutante goalkeeper Liam Reddy at the near post for an own goal.

The second half was typical derby fare, with neither side truly taking the match by storm. Chances were few and far between, but both sides kept looking for a winner. A late set piece for the Wanderers nearly turned into disaster, as Sydney FC broke on the counter, only for the final shot to curl just wide.

Despite the draw, an extraordinary 6-3 win for Perth Glory against Brisbane Roar over in Western Australia saw the Wanderers draw level on points with the Roar, but ahead on goal difference by a solitary goal.

Way to go BruceL show them Westie pride

Yeah as unlimited said it was all little slow

Keepers save on vidosic 2nd header was outstanding one of the best saves I've seen

Outside of this and some other pin ball in the box we never looked like scoring

Wasn't a good performance - a tad worried because that's 2 **** performances of the bounce hopefully popa has something up his sleeve

We have 2 points in 9 and still equal first

Next week is massive against Perth especially with Adel and roar playing each other and us playing roar as well

No surprise at all that their players and fans turned up tonight. Biggest game of their season.

72-year-old pensioner attacked by Sydney FC Thug.

I got off the bus in Marrickville after the game and turned off into my quiet street. Suddenly I felt someone grabbing my scarf from behind. I thought initially it was my nephew or some friend, but he shouted, "Sydney FC, motherfücker" and started to run off. Well, he wasn't going to get my scarf, and I had a good grip of it, so I ran across the road after him, and let out a great growl! He let go and ran away like the little coward he was. So I have my stretched scarf (the little foundation members' scarf) and a sprained little finger! Bastard!

I can be there in 90 seconds, let's tear the joint upNot to mention all the RBB guys at Gyrodikos in Bexley

Also I don't understand this fascination playing Bridge in the #9 position - with "weak" (let's face it, Bridge and Santalab aren't going to be winning any battles of strength against any CB) strikers, and playing so slowly - we're not going to get anything if we're going to play so slowly

It's okay to play slowly if you have a massive #9 who can hold up the play and you can methodically move up the field. But with more agile strikers - like Bridge and Santalab - they rely on quick passing and movement to overcome their strength deficiency

In addition, can Castelen please look at some of Diego Castro's work. He dribbles past one player, or maybe two, and then releases the ball... and he (usually) gets the ball and is quite direct. None of this, "I'm going to slow down and then beat you - but oh wait, the entire backline is already set and I have another four to beat"

Game was crap. Reddy was awesome. I haven't seen a keeper with confidence and control his box since Sir Ante departed. I think Santa deserved more game time. Neville was fukkin awful as per usual and has to be the worst crosser of the ball I have ever seen. I've been saying for weeks I like to see Castellan off the bench, he seems to have more impact that way.

The third Amigo missing was our missing part of the jigsaw. Nichols tried hard but nithing seemed to come off tonight, sometimes you have those kind of games. Even fathead made a few uncharacteristic blunders.

The positive is that if we can play that ordinary and still draw, we're doing ok.

The RBB and rest of our fans, smashed the sad smurf brigade for six... Well done all...

Lastly I really need to know, Why did we have that blue tonight at the end of the game in Bay 37. Kids were crying and got caught up in it all... I know why..Because Dumbkunts buy tickets for their smurf mates, sit in a 'Designated Wanderers Bay' and then Wander why people have issues with this. If you want to sit with your f*kwit Smurf mates ,f*Ck off into the mixed bays, that is what they are there for.  FFS...  :arniesalt:

I thought Cole instead of Neville would rip it up as Cole can cross better, I hope if nothing works out for us this season we get a useful striker next season ...

Even if we had Fornaroli, we'd still struggle with such a slow transition like tonight

our transition was ****ed though....castellen love the guy but he needs to go wide and make runs stop stopping and taking 1000 touches then lose the ball

We need to seriously have a good look at Bridge vidoisic castelen and Neville the amount of chances they **** up is unforgivable

Props to Perth tonight see what investing in a decent striker does

No reason why we can't have a dangerous number 9 like other a league clubs we are financially backed by wealthy men

We'd used one sub before the 83rd minute. Insanity.

Our defence was sat way too high, particularly in the first half. They just got behind us way too easily.

We're a much better side with 2 Spaniards, we might have won with the 3rd there.... maybe.

Looked like Jurman was lucky to stay on the field from where I was standing. Looked a headbutt, clear retaliation... clear red (from where I was standing; but I'll be happy to be told otherwise)

Another miserable trip to the mansion. Very hard to get a winner when they park the bus with 60 minutes to go.

If Castelan starts next Friday.... I'll eat a Wanderdog (They look horrible. Fight me)

The referee was so incredibly biased it was a joke.

You'd I think I'd be used to it be now. Well I'm not

Sounds like a similar incident to the one a few derby games back, think it was the one we went a few goals up and threw it away. A couple of guys went at each other in front of us that day and a few more jumped in. Came on here and mentioned about proper segregation which was shouted down by some.... needs to happen. I mean look at the idiot in ESFC top that waltz in to the RBB pre game today lol

I was also near that incident after full time.... Didn't look good :(

Was about 4 rows in front of it & looked like there was a smurf getting into some handbags with maybe a couple of asparagus Tarzans in red & black having some slaps between each other too. A young woman was in tears but didn't look hurt...seccos were hamfisted at best.

There were some dickheads there who should've known better....course doesn't help that getting out of Allianz is almost as hard as escaping Colditz.

As for on pitch matters, I'll take that point. Reddy, Dario, Fat-Head & Hamill were great to good. The rest...not up to standard. Last 30 or so mins was like watching a juggler with Parkinson's trying to keep 1000 plates spinning. NTS had a shocker and neither Jamo nor Neville were up to sniff. Can cut some slack to Andreu maybe, Dimas was a little off key. But Castelen? FFS enough is enough with his Adeleke-like decision making. Would love to see him just once run back like he meant it.

Not the best derby I'Ve been to but that point fûcks the smurfs more than us.

A Wanderers fan with a scarf under his jacket made it into the cove and went right down the front, whipped his scarf out and started cheering. The cove weren't impressed and beat the **** out of him before the riot police got there and dragged him out. Guy in front of me managed to choke him for a few seconds and the guy behind me flykicked him in the gut. Really incited the cove. Started having a go at the cops for letting him in"

For all the talk in the media about "violence" (when discussing flares), this is actual violence in the cove. They really set the standard don't they?
