  • Defensive Error Hands Mariners Point

    The Western Sydney Wanderers failed to win a game they dominated, as a second half error allowed the Central Coast Mariners to claim a point in a 1-1 draw.

     

    With supporter favourite Kerem Bulut omitted completely from the match day squad, it was Brendon Santalab who took a position at the point of the spear. With not even 2 minutes play the decision to start Santalab was justified as the home side took the lead. A fast counter attack put Nico Martinez on the ball with the Mariners defence facing their own goal, he played a neat reverse pass to give Santalab a clear line of sight to goal and he blasted past Paul Izzo at the far post.

     

    The closest the Mariners came to an equaliser in the first half was a goal-line scramble as Andrew Redmayne fumbled a cross to Connor Pain. Thankfully for the keeper he was able to combine with the rest of the defence to delay Pain long enough to get in position to smother his eventual shot.

     

    Mitch Nichols & Jumpei Kusukami both wasted gilt edged chances to double their sides lead, Nichols in particular had a shocker in front of goal, blazing numerous opportunities either wide or high.

     

    In the end was a self inflicted wound that let the Mariners equalise. Robbie Cornthwaite sold out his keeper with an awful backpass, Redmayne elected not to smother the ball and instead came out to try and kick the ball away only to collide with the onrushing Roy O'Donovan. With both keeper & striker sprawled on the turf, the ball sat still on the ground for Adam Berry to finish with a simple tap in. Pain nearly sent his side into raptures in the 75th minute, as he got through on goal but fired his strike wide right.

     

    The night could have got worse for the Wanderers if not for a pair of blind officials, with Jack Clisby getting away with a clear handball inside his own penalty area in the 86th minute. Despite both the referee & linesman in perfect positions, neither of them spotted the infringement that might have cost the game.

    Western Sydney play Perth Glory at NIB Stadium, Perth on Sunday the 6th of November.

    Sad though when we started this club that it was never said a group of 30 would absolutely control it

     

    Make it a cash cow terrace but never speak up for the average joe

    There's a reason for wst cause a group of 30 control everything and don't like change or fighting for the fans there simply there for there selves remember that

    I need a crew and a drum or I can be one man band lol

    And wst would have more members if their were an allocation for it the club actually love it cause they don't need as much seco cause we don't light flares and fight n ****

    My seat is closer to the wst than the RBB, and I like to sing/hum along to the songs with the RBB but when the wst start their chants it throws me off and it gets frustrating and really annoying.

     

    If you want to support your team, than great go ahead, but why can't you guys just sing along with the RBB.

     

    I'm sure if there were more members than there may be flares/fights. Like with any large organised group there's always a couple of people who like to ruin it for the rest of us.

    We're making our own chants own merch own flags we refuse to chant anything with rbb in it cause we ain't the rbb

    All wsw chants have more rbb then about wsw

    We got 120 and growing ðŸ˜

     

    Watch one more flare goes off la bumba will join wst cause they won't be allowed in the Nt then see who's laughing

    Genuinely curious what the **** you are talking about, but it is such a garbled mess it makes no sense. How the **** does active support have anything to do with recruitment? Or are you suggesting they should stop supporting the team if the team isn't playing well? That is the definition of a fair weather fan.

    Just back on the team Lederer has been quoted that he wants to make Wanderers " the premier football club in Australia" , 

    whist Popa has stated " we want to win everything , we make no apology for that". Great , owner and coach in alignment.

     

    F*king do something about it then , and fast. Words are cheap building a team is not.

    same with our seats, i dont mind WST doing their own thing, but please, when the side stands are getting into the RBB chants, either sing along or keep quiet, something you seem to be able to do at length anyway.

      Yep it's sort of like the rainbow ruse technique. Combine the opposite of something into the same sentence so it sounds specific but really covers all bases. Hang on I'm getting something from my spirit guides..... Davo... "Most of the time you are positive and cheerful, but there has been a time in the past when you were very upset.. Although for WSW it's more I'm totally bipolar especially around Derby's. All last week I felt negative about the game then weirdly and for no reason I think stuff it we are going to win.

      Yep not a lot really. Players came to the RBB  Some chanting (couldn't hear what) A couple of people yelled their coaching advice at the players Capo offered Thomas a go on the loud hailer, which he declined Another dude yelled some coaching tips   Players walked away looking a bit sheepish.
