I liked his clearance there at one stage in the style of Topper-Stanley.

Kicking it as high and as far as he could.

That was ace, he really can twat a football

He's refereed 14 games involving the Wanderers and that was the 2nd time they've won where he was the referee.

For the last 8 or so years that's about par for the course

But yes he was ****

I love Panta twatting the ball from goal kicks. Why the **** not it you can drop the ball near the opposition box for a goal kick do it. It's not like they are going to score from there.

I love Borrellos effort the goal game from him chasing a lost cause.

I saw an interesting interview a few weeks back with Petr Cech talking about the long goals kicks. Chelsea averaged 28 passes from a short goal kick to get to Drogba, but single pass from long goal kicks with a far higher completion rate, as in Drogba basically trook everything in the air. Its extremley hard to find global or even league statistics on short vs long goal kicks, but suffice to say im entirely unconvinced of the 'play out at all costs' instruction modern coach run with. Especially with farmers league caliber players like the alegaue

Every single goal kick in the last few games has resulted in absolutely no pressure on our back line, meaning they can rest, but also some chances up top.

Loved Suttons OG it was a beautiful tribute to the work of Daniel Margush it was at the same end were Margush had thrilled the crowds with similar efforts

Geez, what a blast from the past...He plays for Croydon FC in the NPL SA league. I thought was going to retire and play Rugby League after his iconic rugby style tackle here. Personally, that guy really f*cked himself and self-imploded his career with some of the stuff he did.

He'll would have to go down as one of the worst goalkeepers the club ever had, yeah?

I should point out, this was played on the 9th April 2022. There was only 5k in the crowd. Tonight there was 13k and it's around the same time? Good to see people are going back to the stadium and supporting the squad.

Ooooooooh boy do I have a list of worse GKs than margush.

Matthew Trott - Very early days, but **** me he was bad
Scott Higins - Complete gutter trash as far shot stoppers go
Ben Kennedy - 160 odd games of utter garbage. When you add lengevity and terrible performances together, Ben Kennedy wins by light years
Griffin McMaster - There hasnt been worse. Ever. There never will be. He's somehow managed 17 NPL contracts and 3 aleague contracts (totalling 16 Aleague games) and ill not understand how he got any of them.

Its a toss up between McMaster and Kennedy. Kennedy gets it for longevity but McMaster for being the worst GK ever to get game time in the AL

To think that we are getting results with two kids in central defence, a makeshift defensive midfield, and 1.5 imports seemed impossible to me at the start of the season.

Gotta give Staj the credit where it's due. You could really see the changes in the Syd derby, even though we let in those late goals... the signs were there...

You can really see the belief building...it's fantastic to see.

We talk about typical peak Wanderers in a bad way. Yesterday was absolute vintage Wanderers in a great way, not since Popa have we seen the likes.

Fair play Drogba was an animal, some centre forwards are a bloody handful, he was one, but the style of play out or long out, both work but it’s gotta be mixed up to get maximum effect.

love the way Thomas quick release throw or kick to wing on halfway to get momentum going in our way and see opposition scrambling back, then next one sideways to Panta, just to keep opposition honest

I remember a few seasons back, Paul Izzo was synonymous with bad goalkeeping but now he seems to be making a good career

It was one of those matches that really made me understand the saying "defence wins matches".

The passages of play with WU just hammering us, and us still managing to keep the ball out, was so damn impressive.

And the coolness and calmness of the players defensively too.

I cannot stop watching Bonetig's absolute chill at ~62:50 mark. I believe that's what the kids call "sexual football". 🥵🥵🔥🔥

Could be that the $1 tickets for any kids playing soccer meant that there were plenty out and about taking advantage of school holidays. Should be doing more of those sorts of initiatives. You're not going to be losing out on much by having the occasional boost of the kids coming in. Try and get them hooked for long term fans.

The second goal came at the right time because Western United were starting to find the danger man Ibusuki and another night he scores one of those 2 chances he had. The 2nd goal just stopped the momentum from them and then it was just about managing the game which we have thankfully improved. Everyone was massive for that defensive effort, you even had Milanovic doing last ditch interceptions in the box. How crazy is that.

Just one mention on Borello. Overall good game but the final third. You have to score that goal that Sapsford gave you. Maybe the deflection puts him off but its a very lazy finish. However this is cancelled out by his assist for Gersbach where he didn't give up on the ball when everyone else did and created the chance with Gersbach. And by his shot that led to the corner that we scored for our second. Those small moments are what makes the difference, but far out he should have been on the score sheet.

Great performance by all.

Panta reminds me of the grit and passion showed by players in season 1 & 2.

Toppor-Stanley reincarnated but with accuracy.... and f##k me he can hit them. Maybe we should give him some more free kicks outside of the box as Borello's seemed to be a one off.

20000 at $5 is so much profitable than 5000 at $20. For the club, for the stadium and for tv. But they don't get it.....

How many has Bonetig cleared off the line like that now? Must be 3? SO great to see the kids doing well and must help Thomas knowing that Panta and Bonetig etc have his back in these situations.

True. Unless the cost of using the stadium is increased for a larger attendance. I don't think it does at commbank, and I'm not aware of it elsewhere these days, but there have been instances in the a league where it has and some clubs do have lousy deals at present.
