Westiesarebesties Posted Friday at 12:58 PM Posted Friday at 12:58 PM I’ve seen a lot of claims that we started playing with 10-15 minutes to go. People are forgetting that this was the period that CCM sat right back and allowed us to have the ball. It was only then parking the bus that allowed us to look like we were now alive. They walked all over us for the rest of the game. The fact we almost got back in it is more to do with the fact they’re terrible at parking the bus. Smoggy, jockman, StringerBellend and 3 others 6

Onto Auckland next Sunday We're halfway through the season and we're 8th. We've won 2 games out of 6 at home. We have every right to bemoan this performance because it's indicative of the entire season thus far. The excuses and passes Staj has received must cease. Borello is getting too many minutes when he's gassed. Mata should be getting more minutes. Our entire defence is shocking. Our midfield hasn't been sorted yet. We're inconsistent at best. Antonssen has shown glimpses but just not good enough for a visa striker. Jeong was rubbish and now injured. We love passing sideways and backwards all game. The frustration in the stands is obvious every time we have a chance to break or transition and we go backwards. This season is done. We have load at home to every NSW team apart from the Jets. We are 8th and a big gap opening now. Of course we will punch our fists in the air and enjoy the next good performance we are WSW fans. But the good performances are too few and far between. Just when you think oh yeah we are getting somewhere e.g. victory away we follow it up with a total mess bulls at home. I still think we have a decent squad, although hopelessly unbalanced. But surely you can see that the lack of consistency is on the manager. Frustrating as we have some very good players. No way we should be getting beat 3-1 at home by that Mariners team MartinTyler, 102megan, jockman and 7 others 10
StringerBellend Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Posted Friday at 10:07 PM I'm banging on about the home form, but apart from if you can't win at home you ain't going to do anything. Home is home, it's where your own fans get to watch the game. If you don't win or at least entertain at home then what's the point? My kids won't go the game, and I've gave up pushing them. I missed the seabogans game (only one Ill miss) due to family stuff. But part of me is like what's the point I'm trying to get on the Staj band wagon as I want it to work. So I can watch some decent footy. But 2 wins at home Losing to every local rival other than Jets Twice now followed up decent away results by making overly clever wholesale changes, and putting in a **** performance 8th!! In a **** league He's a a darling of the limited Australian football media and seems to be beyond critism. But his A League record is terrible and not just with us. alexd, Erebus, nmh94 and 9 others 12
Smoggy Posted Friday at 10:18 PM Posted Friday at 10:18 PM It's those that have been stumping out home season tickets season after season i feel for. I stopped after the first season at spotless and reverted to basic supporter membership. The entertainment value has been consistently shite ever since the final season at the old stadium. If you have retained a full season ticket that is alot of $$$$$$ for very little value, other than you can say you are loyal. As for last night...don't want to hear any Perth excuses...it was just total rubbish to a man, across the pitch. No effort, sloppy passing, poor pressing all the basics you would expect not there, until the final 10. This club is just hopeless. jockman, LetsPele, SNS100 and 5 others 8

StringerBellend Posted Friday at 10:45 PM Posted Friday at 10:45 PM (edited) You know the most annoying thing here. We can't even have a good laugh at Sotirio signing to the other lot.. Who comfortably beat the Mariners the other day. Perspective we just let 3 goals in at home to am absolutely shite team Edited Friday at 10:45 PM by StringerBellend jockman 1
MartinTyler Posted Friday at 10:52 PM Posted Friday at 10:52 PM The late surge where we almost grabbed an equaliser papered over what was a most inept performance. What was particularly galling for me was the number of players who just couldn't get the basics right and that the winning (2nd) goal was scored by a League 2 quality player. Mariners were decent last night despite previous results, but we were nowhere. redpanther61, LetsPele, nmh94 and 4 others 7
SBW Posted Friday at 10:55 PM Posted Friday at 10:55 PM Last month, John Hutchinson the Mariners legend brought his Yokohama FC team against the Mariners, his team finished mid table in the J-League but his team blew the Mariners of the park in the ACL. Last night it was the other way around, Staj has no philosophy, no tactical Game plan, just hoof ball and hope for the best, bringing an experienced CB isn't going to solve the issues we have. 102megan, Upthehill, Smoggy and 3 others 6

wslincoln Posted Friday at 11:02 PM Posted Friday at 11:02 PM A lot of people are split over the Juan Mata situation. Against a team that pretty much played a low bloc throughout the 90, Juan Mata would have been good to find those crucial balls as we saw in the 84th or whatever bloody minute they scored. Against the better teams who are going to play through you, he is too old to rely just on his technical skill. Proof is in the pudding though, an assist within 15 minutes or even 10 I can't remember shows his class. Just expect a 3-0 loss and you might find some enjoyment in next week. meryn, Westiesarebesties and GunnerWanderer 2 1

This, I don’t know if people are forgetting the games he started but against a full energy team who are actually pushing up when we’ve got the ball he struggled. He’s a luxury player, if he starts he needs the squad around him to play a style that allows him to not be running back in defence and not have to do aggressive runs forward. Also, **** sake Brilliante had a bad game last night. So many little miss hit passes that resulted in a loss in the centre of the park and an attack on our back foot. jockman 1

nmh94 Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM A lot of it has been said already but that was really, really disappointing. We had actually been pretty good recently for the most part, and then we dish that up for 80 minutes at home against a team lower than us on the table. For the first time probably all season, our attack looked as bad as our defence, which as especially disappointing as we know the ability is there in attack (unlike defence, where they just aren't up to it). It again shows if our attack doesn't fire we have nothing. The last 10 minutes was how the 90 should have gone - can't believe how close we were to stealing a point. I'm not in the season over camp - I still think we can make the 6. But for that to happen, our home form must get better. And it needs to start next week against Auckland. We are all over the place we have had some good games recently and some good patches in games but we can't string a run of games together. A good draw away to Melbourne gets followed up with a crap loss at home to the Bulls. Win away at Perth (although we only played well for about 40 mins in that one) gets followed up with this. I'm stuffed if I understand what Staj is doing. We seem to find a way to play that works so next game he puts 3 players on the bench and we wonder why we get a different performance. 2 wins at home both against poor teams says enough about were we are at LetsPele, SBW and nmh94 3
