If this game stays 0-0 Ill eat my left foot :D

4-1 bollocksing. Our defence is a real shambles atm

We’ve played 10 games, scored in all of them, and kept only one clean sheet.

The way we’re playing I’d be surprised if we have any 0-0 games all season.

This is gonna be ugly. Tipping 4-1 to Vuck. The whole league has figured out our tissue paper defence.

Not to mention Machach is back. And our defence was paper thin before one of our makeshift centerbacks got himself a red card

At least Panta will be back so he can start at CB again.

Not sure Cleur will be fit because of his hamstring injury, and if he isn't fit, Simmons should start at RB and I would still like to see Mata start on Saturday

Mata was our best player while he was on so he should start again.

If we’re sticking with the same shape I’d give Kraev a rest and play Borello and Sapsford up top with Milanovic and Mata either side.

The other option is play him in the middle next to Priestman as Brillante had to do a ton of work yesterday, although I worry about the defensive side of that midfield against the energy of Teague and Valadon.

I'd play Mata in the middle, he floated in there most of the game anyway. he was rarely out wide.

How about if the back 4 just stay in their own half.

They have enough trouble defending as it is.

Let alone going to the other half of the field and trying to attack...especially Clisby.

We don't create anything without them bombing forward. The way we construct goals is a lot of movement in midfield and slow probe followed by quick passes that creates some good chances. A lot of that play includes the wing backs playing 1-2s with those in the middle. It creates variety where it can be an overhead cross, cut back in the 18 yard box, cut in for the shot, a run through with quick passes ( see Mata's goal) or recycle possession. Without them supporting the attack nothing happens.

A lot of the goals conceded are individual errors not structural. Midfielders covering wing backs, early fouls, CBs directing the defensive structure, 1v1s etc. The first goal conceded we had enough players back, we did well to stop the first phase but then didn't win the ball that leads to the goal. That's not structural that's individual responsibility to defend the opposition from the back 4.

Clisby getting ripped twice by Jed Drew with a cross come shot for the 2nd goal. That's not structural that's Clisby being poor at defending, Bonetig unable to stop Piol like an early foul on the sideline or Brillante/Cameron to retreat quick enough or stop the quick throw in.

Cameron was just like a rabbit with the headlights in his eyes in defence. Really a step up.

Brillante's shortcomings were covered over by Scicluna covering.

Lachlan Keevers is the ref and Adam Kersey in the VAR

With our nonexistent defence this could get really ugly lol.. If Clisby is on the field after the Bulls game i'm expecting at least 3 goals down his side

Clisby vs Arzani!

Clisby is a hard watch. In any other comp he would be dropped and sent to the reserves to find form. It seems almost cruel at times to persist tbh.

Clisby vs drew was bad enough and also not the first time drew has bummed him senseless

In any other comp he wouldn't have been let go as not being good enough then brought back a few years later despite negligible improvement and then kept for years.

Actually for that matter what club with genuine ambition would do that?

Crazy we let Traore (who proceeded to play in the grand final) go for this

With hindsight yes..He was absolutely terrible in his last game for us. He was pretty bad all season too

We also don't know how each clubs salary cap situation was. It's possible the Victory were able to offer him more, or they made an offer we didn't want to match for his performance level & position.

Don't forget Traore is back up to Kasey Bos. Traore is better than Clisby but he is also getting on with age. He would not have solved our issues at LB especially now in the current season. Its either a young player comes in or Foreign player. But for this season we just need to put up with Clisby.

Panta will be at LB once Jeong is fit again.
