Your lucky you missed it, especially the second half...disgraceful exhibition  of a so called football game.

You maybe the only one there next week.

Tbh for the Melbourne City game, I thought I'd be part of a handful in the away bay

Maybe 30-40 all up

I must say, for completeness, if I meet the love of my life at Tuesday speed dating, I may be unavailable for next Sunday's match :ninja:

(no, I'm not taking her to the game for the date)

If a wanderers game doesn't get her in the mood I don't know what will

Actually I couldn't believe the commentators were singing his praises during the game, saying that he'd taken his game to another level this season (just before he gave away the second goal). For mine he hasn't reached last season's heights but their judgement maybe clouded by that hat-trick.

Agreed.  Much better on the left last season

I almost fell asleep in the middle of that second half.

Seriously our ball movement sucks, these long balls, sideways backwards what ever the fRk is Park football stuff.

I couldn't care less about Brisbane's time wasting tactics, our players were incapable of playing football.

Milanovic is playing like someone trying to get a transfer in January. Constantly ball hogging and instead of taking open space on the wing he cut back all night, there was even one where he went to do his cutback and shoot but realised he was 40 yards out and shooting from there would be obviously dumb.

He's been doing that all season, because he scored a couple of goals from this sort of play he thinks he's allowed to do this.

I am one of the easy marks who bought the ACL kit, maybe to recall a time where our badge meant hope instead of despair. However, the sponsor sublimation is so bad that the blue background is bleeding into the bottom half of the white 'VISY' text. The night only got worse from there.

Cleur looks shot of confidence and his poacher's finish should see him off - if only we had Simmons available. Worth noting it was Clisbinho getting skinned that let BR put that ball across the face.

And the second goal was not the first time Panta has let his man get a shot through him. After 10 years we can conclude our youth development is not even top 3 in the league and will not win us anything.

If we do not sign two new defenders in Jan I will be tossing my member card in the bin.*

*I will still have my digital copy

I wanted to get a new shirt for Xmas (from my partner) but was turned off the ACL shirt because of Visy on the front. Pratt can go to hell can stay in the US with the RWNJs!

I tell you what’s wearing real thin is turning up to each home game and still being pat down, scanned and asked to empty my pockets when there’s less and less people turning up each week. Over the last 12 years I’ve done it so many times and it’s never bothered me, to the point of having my bare skin patted down at the GF in Brisbane in case I surgically concealed contraband… but these days it just pisses me off, takes 5 mins to get in the bloody gate yet I’m entering with a grand total of about 6 other people. Seems like the cops aren’t even bothered to rock up to games atm so why are we still doing this? The chairman should be standing there instead, thanking everyone for still turning up…

Actually the Raptor squad were there on Saturday night (Aleague teams continue to pay for this policing right? What a faarking rort :nono:). Who were they going to arrest? Maybe they were thinking WSW supporters would start fighting each other due to the frustration of entering yet another season with hope, only to see it slowly die as the season unfolds. That's more likely than thinking there would be trouble between us and the 4 Roar supporters who turned up.

They had the scanners set up at the City v WSW match at AAMI Park too

I found it odd as the crowd was low

Yeah I dunno - still feel like the only time we fashion chances from open play is when he is on the ball - he stuffed up resulting in the second goal on Sat night, but normally he doesn't delay on the ball the way he did then and I think his decision making is still better than the others. I was annoyed that Staj hooked him instead of Borello, although to be fair his head seemed to drop after the mistake that resulted in the Brisbane goal.

We seriously need a central defender and another midfielder in the transfer window - it's beyond concerning when poor old Jack Clisby is the best of the four at the back....

That 2nd half was very Carl Robinson esque from Staj. Aside from Milanovic side netting shot I can't remember us troubling the Roar, the play acting really only got started around the 70th minute so there was a good 25 minutes of F all from us.

The goals conceded, I mean far out they are inexcusable errors in defence. 1st one Kraev doesn't press, Clisby gets sliced by a pass for ball watching when Scicluna was covering the player on the ball, Clisby should have been on Halloran which is poor reading of the situation from Clisby and Cleur just gets his body position all wrong.

2nd goal Milanovic caught dwadling on the ball, Brillante and Panta have a split second to decide who goes in to cover neither does and Waddingham gets in behind both players Bonetig was unable to cover the space Panta and Brillante should have been protecting. Brillante is the leader and he should have gone to the ball and maybe cause a foul to stop the play and reset, Panta is the most at fault here as he is unsure whether to go to ball or watch behind. Inexperience here as he should of had confidence in Brillante to go to ball while he retreated.

Which is very odd. Staj's sides have never struggled to score. Its usually a common theme with particularly **** managers in the AL, is that they know how to get the ball to goal, but simply cant keep it out of their own net. Structuring a side to score is far easier than strategising how to mitigate opponents.

To your point though, the CBs should never have been stacked like that when Milanovic travelled across the center. There dangr there and they should have been flat.

I like Panta. He seems to have far more capability than many of the AL academy CBs coming up across the league. Theres a long term player there for us but we need someone this season. The only side consistently impressing me is Auckland, so top 6 may not be out of reach if we can solve this leaky defence

good to see Temelkovski get on the pitch - looked to create a chance himself - i liked the enthusiasm, hopefully he gets more than a couple minutes against Wellington.

Mata needs to start for the home games - we should be attacking and throwing everything we have at home - we should not be settling for a point, especially against one of the worst teams in the competition. We seem to have some kind of attack, be relentless at home.

Staj can be safe on the road, look to counter and hopefully get a result.

but we know he will keep the same formation and same tactics against Wellington - but we'll still rock up :P

good on Borello for the double - hopefully he can keep banging them in - keeps him hungry and interested :)

All the negativity I forgot this it was brilliant chance he created at the end.

It's been the story of our season so far under Staj, there's just been no structure or proper game plan under Staj. I can name a whole heap of coaches in the NPL who would know how to set our team up and that can play with structure.

look at our women's team earlier in the day, they were actually far more enjoyable to watch as they played proper structured football, none of this unnecessary long balls, side balls backwards ball that we have under Stajcic.

The two goals we conceded were pretty bad, due to individual mistakes and the way the team is set up.

For the first goal Kraev didn't check his shoulder so when he got the ball in midfield he immediately turned into trouble and lost it. He then tried to make up for it by pressing way too aggressively and Van der Saag just skipped past him. Clisby was ball watching and completely lost Halloran when that was the obvious pass. The back four actually recovers ok at this point. Bonetig moved out to press Halloran and Clisby tucked inside to cover for him. Halloran only has Waddingham, who was marked tightly by Panta, and Zimarino, who was covered by Cleur, to aim for. Then Cleur got it all wrong.

For the second Milanovic holds the ball too long when Kraev offered an easy pass. Everyone else ran away like he had a hand grenade so he didn't really have many options, but Kraev was right there. At this point we had four behind the ball and Brisbane have nobody ahead of it. Brillante and Panta both go to O'Shea leaving Waddingham free to run in behind, forcing Bonetig to come across and cover. Scicluna didn't track Zimarino's run into the space Bonetig vacated so Waddingham could have squared for a tap in had he not scored himself.

Teams know we can't play through the middle with only two players there. So they flood the middle with four players and aggressively press, knowing they have plenty of cover if they get beaten. If they do win the ball they transition quickly against our back line because our fullbacks will have pushed forward. For the first Clisby was higher than the CB's, giving space for Halloran to run into. For the second both fullbacks were ahead of the ball so a simple 1-2 pass and our CB's were two on two with their forwards.

Something needs to change. Both our goals were from set pieces, so from open play a team that has conceded 20 goals in 7 games was able to pretty effectively neutralise us.
