It should have been 5 calling the 5th off for Clisby losing the ball was the softest VAR let off I have seen

I thought that was a joke too, that is all the proof you need that VAR goes looking for reasons to disallow goals rather than correcting obvious errors. To make matters worse, I’m pretty sure from memory the linesman was standing right there and didn’t call it in real time either.

Been saying all week what a load of shyte unite round it is..and it is.

Witnessed a beautiful ceremony of a Perth and Adelaide fan swapping jerseys while we were 3-1 down. Now the famous hatred between their clubs can be put to rest. Or something? Stupid concept.

Remember when Staj said he wanted us to be like Penrith... anyone know if Ivan Cleary wants to try coaching the round ball game?

Let's say hypothetically the club decides they'll sacked Stajcic tonight (or tomorrow morning), who would you have to replace him?

Has the most technical player in the a league. Leaves him on the bench until 3-1 down. Lolley doesn't have 90 mins in him either bit goes off with the game under control.

When Mata came on we had absolutely no idea how to play with him. We are 6 rounds in after the longest off season in world football and yet our players still look like it's preseason and they are meeting each other for the first time

At least Mata improved his swing this week.

That 2nd half, it was obvious that Ufuk put a rocket up his players arse and they responded instantly in the 2nd half with 4 goals, 2 in the first 10min.

I've never seen us collapse like that in the Derby. The players just look lost.

There was basically no leadership on the field.

Unfortunately we have all become used to all this and no wonder the support numbers have been dwindling for years.

Once again we got the marquee just for marketing. He doesn't  start and when he comes in doesn't do much. The rest of the visa spots wasted. A coach that shouldn't be coaching in the A League..... replacing 4 at one go is just crazy....... cannot wait for the 2nd division.....at least there will be costs for coming last

Didn't do much? the first corner he takes goes right on Antonessen head for the goal. How many corners did we spray all over the place before that?

Arnie - anyone else is yet another stab in the dark and likely the same outcome as the last several

Duncan Ferguson

Come on it would be ace

On another note, I find it absolutely ridiculous that it’s not even the end of November and we’ve already played two derbies, one of which was wasted during a round that had an elevated status anyway so really no point putting it on at the same time

Good corner and a nice change from all the short corners before that but he has 100 x more skills than any other player so I expect a lot more from him. He should be our playmaker, our dead ball specialist our inspiration, our game changer.... unfortunately so far he has not been (not talking just about today)

Ashamed to say it but we are so success-starved I'd take it

Thankfully he probably hates us more than we hate him and would never come here

Mata is just another addition to the long list of foreigners/marquees the club have signed and then proceeded to do absolutely farrrk all to properly utilise them or play to their strengths

Yes exactly, he should be. That is pretty hard to do when sitting onand not actually on the field  and not much easier to do when you finally get on and  the game has largely already gone at 3-1

We are six weeks in and out tactical genius leader still seems to be playing him as a bit part player.

He should have been starting every game and we should be playing around him..if it still isn't working then sure drop him but at the moment we are 6 weeks gone and we don't know

Hey stringer, missed you at the game, could be because you ignored my texts :)

But yeh, 100%. Mata, at the very least, wants the ball, moves towards it, passes it quickly and is involved in the game.

May as well give him a go, as nothing else is working.

Yeh, trying to copy the AFL's excellent Gather round in Adelaide is a bad idea.  The gather round works as most teams are in Melbourne and Adelaide isn't that far away. All games during it are a sellout and the city is buzzing with all the tourists displaying their teams colours.

It's not going to work for aleague, it's too far for everyone to travel.

One thing it does do though is unite all teams supporters in singing "**** off Sydney FC."

Personally I don't think it was as bad as people are saying. Look Smurfs have a superior squad across the park against ours. With the players we have  I am not sure what else we can do to even the odds outside of what they did in the 1st half. This squad is not top 6 material so I am not sure what people are expecting?

As much as people have been asking for Brillante to be dropped we saw in 10 minutes what happens when you have an inexperienced duo in midfield up against a player who can thread passes through the defence.

However I also saw us playing through the press. That 1st half was the first time this season we actually did it and we did multiple times throughout the game. Scicluna and Priestmann did a better job on  the ball to get us going, than if Brillante was there.

So my question becomes should we just stick Mata there in CDM. Just to give some experience. I mean it wasn't entirely terrible today. The 2nd half return was led by Mata dictating the play for us in midfield.

It could not be more obvious that the club wanted to sign Mata and not Staj. He is world renowned and made his entire career off of playing as an ATTACKING MIDFIELDER, yet we play a formation without this position. Intensity, running and movement have never been apart of his game, even at his prime at Chelsea and Man Utd. But hey, lets bring him to Australia, and play him and either CDM, wing or striker at 36 years old.

For the love of God Staj, please just try a 4-2-3-1 and put him in attacking mid, I'm sure he will start making things happen.

He was very fidgety in that press conference, his answers were a mixed bag as well

He spent half of it causing more problems with FBK instead of answering "why did Mata not start". That's just going to fuel more speculation and problems.

Upper tier we were surrounded by pretend ESFC fans and assorted plastics.

I genuinely don’t understand this attitude towards new people coming to games. We constantly lament the lack of support our league gets but then slap ridiculous labels like ‘plastics’ on people who become interested or at least buy a damn ticket

We are the joke of the A-League.

Absolute joke.

Season over.

Coach can't couch.

Jeong can't defend.

Those living in hope that Juan Mata is our saviour, are in denial.

I applaud any fan for staying positive.

Oh, if Staj gets the arse, I'd brink in David Zdrilic. Ticks all right boxes. His team is leaking goals and are at the bottom of the ladder. Perfect candidate.

It's going to make me angry isn't it?
