William
Well we should be hoping for significant level of improvement at home , I am allowing for last week being played in horrible winds out on open plain. without being negative we do need Clisby to go to India or back to Perth where he start his career and find a spot for one of the kids. I know people have talked up the young keeper but if makes our defense nervous like he make me nervous watching him then I think we need Thomas on the park ASAP. BoyFromTheWest
Vida made some good saves but a few of them came from him making the mistake that led to the shots. He's doing well and will improve with game time but he's not Thomas. As you say there are nerves in his playing out sometimes. Better than some previous incumbents but still some nervous moments. Sithslayer1991
Ante Covic on RBTV last night was very insightful as to why we don't have a continuous connection with that ACL team. Santalab, Covic, Cole, Bridge should be involved in the club. Personal grudges because of a pay dispute on prize money these boys deserved is petty from the previous regime. The fact that Covic has never come to Wanderers game with his kids because the club shut him out is disgraceful and no wander the club is a basket case. Glad to her Scott Hudson genuinely is trying to repair that relationship. But what a joke. Mariners and the Jets do a better job of taking care of their own than we do. meryn, sonar, Unlimited and 8 others 11 Link to comment
SNS100
It warmed my heart seeing Covic on RBTV. Those boys are doing a great job every week, and they should be commended for bringing a genuine legend of our club onto the show. Those first three seasons seem like a lifetime ago, but listening to Ante re-live those moments, reminds us that we are a part of a unique club, dear to so many fans and ex-players alike. I'm a diehard Penrith Panthers fan, since 1985 when Greg Alexander won the Dally M medal. I've been lucky enough to see the Panthers win 6 Grand Finals. 4 in a row, is out of this world. If the Wanderers get it right as a club, both on and off the field, I truly believe that it will lift the profile of the sport in this country, again. Bigger than any 4-peat from a rival code. Let's hope that the return of the players from the ACL winning champion team at Parramatta on Saturday, is that much needed spark the club desperately needs, to rebuild it to the level that will makes us all proud. nmh94, BoyFromTheWest, Smoggy and 7 others 10 Link to comment
Smoggy Posted yesterday at 12:31 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:31 AM (edited) There was arrogance around the management of the club following that ACL win, almost like they thought it all too easy, good times would last forever and they could do what they liked / everyone was replaceable. This included treating the players like shite and not backing the fans in the stands when the media and police got nasty. And here we are...years on...still in the doldrums. Will be great to see some players back from that time..but is bitter sweet for many. Edited yesterday at 12:32 AM by Smoggy nmh94, Unlimited, StringerBellend and 5 others 8 Link to comment
Sithslayer1991 Posted yesterday at 12:49 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:49 AM The most important is people at the stadium showing our appreciation. And that our boys actually turn up against Adelaide. I like what Mariners did as Covic pointed out they had Vukovic brought back into the team as captain, Matt Simon as player then assistant coach and Josh Rose as assistant coach. Montgomery as well in the youth system. The Jets recently put in the initiative any ex-player and near of kin can come to the stadium free of charge. Victory had Muscat as coach and Archie as ambassador. Veart and Valkanis went through Adelaide. Perth have Despotovski as Women's team coach and Harnwell is an ambassador Smurf boys are a coaching development machine, and even Brosque comes in every now and then. Although Ninkovic saga is wary tale that in the end its dependent on club management. But those are some of the ways the clubs pay tribute to their history. We have yet to really do that. They way Covic described the incident, reminded of me of Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan and players fued with the team admin general manager Jerrie Krause. SBW Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Covic came back to the club as part of the coaching staff for our women's team with Beauchamp and Heffernen, and they all left at the same time and Covic explained there was a clique within the club. MajorMelons Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Im hoping that Adelaide don’t press us so that we can try and play whatever brand of football it is we we practiced in pre season, or if they do press, that we learned from the last game and try something different to counter it. Unless their coach is a total idiot they will press us. From goal kick they will have the front three charge at our centre backs and full backs and box us into a corner We will try and play out and cough the ball up. We have done the first two games and a large part of last season Smoggy, WSWJACK, jockman and 1 other 4 Link to comment
WSWJACK
AU have looked lively and energetic in their start to the season, this is going to be a tough one, does not have home win stamped on this, but it’s why we follow sports meryn 1 Link to comment
Upthehill
This one is a 3-0 loss to me. We couldnt beat them when they had Isais playing CB and a bunch of kids in the midfield. We aren't capable of playing the way Staj wants us too, and they way staj wants us to play will iltimately lead to some horrendous goals (see Vidackovic's miraculous recovery) There are simple solutions to winning these games, and the coaching staff seem to consider none of them. pseudonym and Kotallo 2 Link to comment
Sithslayer1991
Its a young squad Adelaide have so yea I can see them pressing us relentlessly. The team will know this. Its case of the squad figuring out how to change things up to get us forward. Get Mata on the ball as often as possible and getting runners for him to find the pass. Link to comment

Sime11
just hoping the team use the special day to their advangtage - if they can play with the attitude of that ACL winning team - we got this. its going to be a great day - good to hear that the club is trying to right the wrongs of the past - i hope we see as many players there as possible + Popa - its an incredible achievement 10 years ago and they should be honored like the heroes they are.
