God I hope Jack CLisby never eats up a second tier spot. Thats where guys like Holliday should have been brewing. Jack Clisby belongs in the Singapore league or something like that

I can see Clisby heading off the good old Indian Super League and playing alongside or against Dimi Petratos.

I dunno,  I reckon Staj just has to remind the players which penalty area they need to get the ball into - we got it into the penalty area at will,  passing in and out and back in again much of the game.  It was just the wrong end of the field.

We don't really play out. We play around and around, and around until the other team works is out and gets the ball or we accidentally kick it up the field. They play around with it and have a shot, resulting in a goal kick and we start all over.

So better or worse? How we feeling now after picking up a point on the road?

I think I'm feeling worse. Western United are proper **** yet second half they were all over us. That's our strongest team too

The football is back even if we lose 10 nil each week each away game is 90 mins away from the wife

each home game like 5 hours

it’s impossible for me to feel worse than I did 2 weeks ago 😁

Clisby needs to go. We can't do any worse with anyone else in that position. He can't defend, he can't pass or cross. Has had a hand in pretty much every goal we've conceded this season.

2nd Div can't come soon enough so these kinds of players can play there and help out those kinds of teams.

Seeing the likes of Clisby come around multiple times to a club on rotation is something I struggle with…said it when he returned. I know we are still a developing comp and limited players…but still…it’s hard going at times.

Sucker for punishment, I watched the game again.

In the presser, Staj said that we are "looking good from a physical point of view". Really?

I cannot remember a Wanderers team pulling at the opposition's jerseys as much as they did on Sunday. What was that all about?

Cleur should've received a second yellow.

Apologies for the negativity, but I honestly cannot tell the difference between a Gombau, Babbel, Robinson, Rudan or Stajcic coached WSW.

Priestman has done it constantly. Im shocked he doesnt get booked more. He massively over commits when marking or trying to tackle in open space. When he's marking someone with no defensive support around him, he stands far too close. It causes him to get rolled or faked out. One slight touch in the other direction and hes done. He's not aware of whats arounds him.

Compare that to Isais. He will stand a little bit further off and then brings contact right as the opposition receives the ball. But he makes contact that tends to send the player he wants them to go, away from support. If you make contact too early, it lets the opposition know exactly where the pressure is and doesn't discrupt their ability to control.

Priestman dragged 3 players during the game without being ping for it. All of them were the result of him stepping into the challenge way too early or unsupported

I call it the Kwebena Kubi Appiah effect... zero awareness on the pitch, full stop.

100% agree with everything you said.

I remember an early interview with Aaron Mooy. He credited Ron Smith, I think, for teaching young players the importance of ball control, first touch and 'weight of pass'.

Most of our academy players lack quality in the basic fundamentals of the game, in attack and defence.

Priestman has replaced Nieuwenhof. Sadly, he is nowhere near the level of Calum.

Don't apologise. You're spot on.

Up until now, with each new manager, I've thought give him time.

I'm now officially fed up with copping the same poor football regardless of the manager and the squad season after season. And this season it's started even earlier than before.

Agreed. They've all been 'building something'. When it came time to deliver, the dog had always eaten their homework

Eds nooooooooo 🤦‍♀️

I was relying on you to hold your line on the half positive, half "I'm sceptical but I'll give it time" section of the forum and you've come out early.

Now I'm depressed!

You know it's been shyte for a long time when Ed feels this way hey....

But thats the problem Staj has, he comes in with fan patience non existent. Not his fault, blame those that came before and made the appointments...he needs a win...asap.

I think this might be the most negative post Ed has made on WSF..:shok:

Hang in there :grouphug:

Thats his level right there, the Indian League has made below average players in the A-League into world beaters

Its not just that, if you noticed, Mata drops into the pockets in the middle of the field and we play diagonal and horizontal balls to our wide players and insist on crossing the ball into the box and yet Mata is still in the middle field waiting for the ball to be delivered to his feet.

10 football on Facebook released a Heat map of Mata and tells a story on its own. He dropped really deep to our right to receive the ball and would eventually drift to the attacking left. He is always looking for space but also trying to help the team play out.

The Hof alongside Mata would be cool

Personally I think its time to get rid of some of the older guys as I think they have reached their ceiling and  the young ones can do just as good, this would be my side, it cant get any worse

Vidakovic

Cameron Jeong Bonetig Simmons

Priestman Scicluna

Hammond Milanovic

Mata Borello

Bench - Holliday - Pelekanos - Temilkovski - Kraev - Baddolato - Panta - Zapsford

Talking about next season.... Hahaha the suffering has only begun. We have a whole season to go with this squad.

One thing that stood out in the internal club friendly on the members day was how often a player would get beaten and just drag their opponent down for a foul. And because it was a friendly the referee didn't give out any cards so, particularly in the second half when they tired, it just kept happening.

Not sure if that's an instruction from Staj or bad habits, but you tend to play the way you train so it doesn't surprise me that it happens in the league.

Generally it occurs because someone has lost a man and therefore our player (this case Priestmann) is forced into a foul. This was an issue last season for Priestmann as well. Generally good overall play but seems to get lost or out of position a lot of the time. However I am unsure its entirely Priestmann fault and more how he doesn't really gel with Brillante. Priestmann played a lot better with Hendrix next to him last season.

So what I am seeing is the same thing that we had with Keanu Baccus where maybe Priestmann is doing more running, to cover space because the guys around him aren't doing their job. Which leads to Priestmann getting out of position and making fouls to stop attacks. It was already highlighted we had structural issues and this game it was very evident that as a team its a "work in progress".

Watch it happen constantly in midfield this year. If you intentionally let your midfield be outmanned for 90 minutes, they are going to have to get 'handsy' to say in the fight. We dont have world class 8's (or even Aleague calibre 8's). Theyre required to attack, so theyre going to be constantly out of position with zero support

I wonder if it would work to play Mata as the 8? Partner him with Priestman, with Priestman holding his position in front of the defence and Mata providing the missing link through the middle when playing out from the back. Kraev can take the attacking midfield position.

He needs more than a win to brighten me up.
