I know theres some here that think he should have done better with the attack he had last season, but that squad was f--king hopeless. The back line was appalling, even when they weren't all injured. He was missing an actual midfield for a signifacnt chunk of the season. 

What we wont have is a toxic **** head with questionable history as the coach.

The more important bit, lederer being voted out is actually bloody fantsatic. That man has taken a massive club and driven it into the ground over the course of 7 years. Theres no way in hell that it was all bad luck and poor front line leadership (though that was present, Lederer was again responsible). I said a few months back, I want the mans money but I sure as hell dont want him. And this club was never going to recover under him. From my perspective, this is the first good decision made by the club/board in 7 years.

Now, fire Eddie Bosnar and Gavin Costello into the sun and letes get on with this.

There's still space for Ninko. Staj usually takes his Assistant (Nahuel Arrarte), Performance Analyst (Stevan Antonic), Physio (Isabella Bozzi) everywhere he goes. He had a strength and conditioning coach (Luca Tonetti) that used to be attached to him but did not follow him to Perth. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to poach one of ESFC's GK coach (David Plowright).

Not according to the statement that was released:

Mr Lederer will relinquish the role with immediate effect but remains committed to the club in perpetuity as a shareholder and club director.

I truly hope so as he has made some dreadful decisions. The biggest for me was commissioning a review into the club's performance and then deciding to ignore the advice when he didn't like what they said about his influence. And obviously entrusting full faith and control into someone like Rudan.

BUT, you know enough about English football to know sometimes the grass isn't greener and there is no guarantee that it will improve. We just need the next leader/egomaniac to implement their "vision" to see where that leads us.

I remain hopeful but wary that it may not get better.

As for Staj, he's not my first pick but there are plenty of worse managers (and we've had a few of them) so provided he has a clear vision and is backed by the club we'll hopefully be competent to start with and possibly competitive.

It's been too long supporting this club to have any real optimism at this stage.

The thing is, we are a basket case. Good players and good Managers don't want to come here. The other names mentioned as preferred candidates don't want to come near us. Montgomery, Popa and Kisborbo have turned us down. 

Staj needs to redeem himself, we need to redeem ourselves. This might be about as good we can expect and as good a match as we can hope for. I'll take him over the Canadian semi-pro league dude any day.

If somebody seriously thinks that Staj is there main issue here: a revolt has taken place out the board meeting today, and his favourite toy was wrestled out of Lederer’s hands. The demolition job he started 10 years ago has finally caught up with him.

Today is a good day. This is an opportunity for a new start.

Just remember that Staj's hands were tied at Perth as they had to let players go and were not able to sign players

Lederer's track record is so bad at choosing a manager that I feel strangely confident that Stajic will work out, given  Lederer's disapproval of him.

I'm just disappointed that at this stage it appears the change has come over a dispute about staj, instead of, you know, 10 years of complete ****.

He had the golden boot winner who scored 20+ goals and still finished last behind a dreadful western United and a Jets in just as much **** as them. That is special levels of shite.

As for him turning the Mariners round. He finished dead last, then improved but quit throwing the toys out of the pram saying that he cant take them forward, well Monty did didn't he. Then in a Perth press conference he tries to take credit for the Mariners

Still a co-owner, Lederer said his financial commitment to the club would be unaffected.

“My commitment there isn’t going anywhere it remains strong and will be there in perpetuity. One of the other shareholders will assume the chairmanship.”

 

Lederer believes WSW will recover from the turmoil of recent seasons and are in “excellent shape” moving forward.

“My term as chairman has been an incredible ride and I’m not complaining,” he said.

“I’ll still be there each week rain, hail or sunshine to watch the team - you can count on that.”

The concerning part:

It’s unclear whether Lederer’s resignation will affect the status of close confidant and sometime sporting director Eddy Bosnar, who has been heavily involved in the quest for a new coach and, along with Lederer, favoured a Dutchman recommended by Graham Arnold.

FTBL understands a sticking point for former Central Coast and Hibernian boss Montgomery in  taking the job was a disagreement with Bosnar over the club’s future recruitment strategy and protocols.

Why on earth is the ownership letting Eddy Bosnar, who has done absolutely nothing to justify having this kind of impact & determination on what the club does, prevent us from moving forward with a new coach?

It's just bizarre.
