This second string side is getting pumped. 4-0 after 55. These players need experience but it'll be a steep learning curve for them.

5-0 now

20/20 hindsight maybe a more mixed starting 11 of rookies and veterans should have been used.

Seems like Tegan Micah might be the scapegoat.

Gustavsson seems to do this a fair bit. He's got his set 11-14 players and then sticks with it except when "experimenting"/trialling new players and he'll often change the entire starting 11.

It looked like Lucy Bronze's 91st minute goal was going to do the job for England and Team GB, but the Netherlands scored twice in injury time to take them through to the semifinals.

With only 12 spots at the Olympics a fair few good European countries won't qualify

Yeah…not sure about this qualification for the Olympics for Euro sides. Winning the Euros doesn’t book you a place…not bitter…but seems brutal…

Not as bitter as the Matilda fans still are about getting knocked out by England though :D

Reports in the SMH, ABC and News that Sam Kerr has an ACL injury.

Bye bye Olympic medal

All the games finally caught up to her. Even Sammy has her limits, hoping she has a speedy recovery.

I get that there’s a lot of bad luck in this, but given her workload and recent knee injury was a Moroccan training camp really necessary?

Its mid season break. They do a mini pre season games start again next week. Its just one of those ones that the longer you play and the more you play will eventually happen.

I just can't comprehend all this shyte being written in the media about Sam being picked in the Olympics squad just to take penalties.

Your comment made me google.... boy media in this country really is terrible. SMH spouting something stupid to make her come back in 6 months... actually majority SMH articles about Sam's injury are pretty stupid. That's followed by Daily mail really really stupid opinions that have NFI.

Particularly when the squad size is only 18. It would be madness to do so.

I see that Chloe Logarzo is finding some form following her return from injury. Matildas need her fit for the squad.

Record-breaking Western Sydney Wanderers striker Sophie Harding is adamant the club can continue to turn heads after a surprise surge up the A-League Women ladder under former Socceroo Robbie Hooker.

Harding broke the club's record for goals in a season last week, taking her tally for the campaign to eight by bagging twice in an 2-0 away win against Perth.

The forward shares the lead for the ALW golden boot with Canberra's Vesna Milivojevic.

The victory over Perth has propelled the Wanderers into sixth place on the ladder and inside the finals spots ahead of Sunday's meeting with Melbourne City at the inaugural ALW Unite Round.

The Wanderers have only played finals once in their history and Harding is keen to ensure that happens after helping lead their revival under Hooker.

"We are definitely not stopping at that," Harding told AAP.

"I think we are capable of finishing very high up the table if we keep playing the way we're playing and I think we will surprise a few people.

"That's Robbie's goal, that's our goal - to get finals football and keep climbing the ladder."

The turnaround is all the more stark considering Hooker was jettisoned into the role on the eve of the season.

Hooker replaced Kat Smith 10 days before the Wanderers' season opener and while the club struggled initially, they have lost just once in their past six games.

"I enjoyed working under Kat and she was a super supporting coach," Harding said.

"Robbie has been awesome for us girls and he capitalises on our strengths and he has a specific way he wants us to play.

"We don't have many huge names on paper, but the way we play is aggressive.

"He wants me in the final third as much as possible and we all want to win for him."

The side's rich vein of form faces an acid test on Sunday against league leaders City.

But the Wanderers' 4-3 loss against the table-toppers earlier this season is proof they can match it with the competition's heavy hitters.

We're not worried about it and we're definitely very confident going into this game off the back of two wins," Harding said.

"We know it's going to be a tough game but we will give them a good run."

Disappointingly but unsurprisingly, they were sold out within literally 3 minutes

People's lack of planning and incompetence in ensuring enough jerseys were made available for fans, should not be seen as something to celebrate IMHO.
