StringerBellend Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 From memory the posters at the Wanders 5s had WWC Matildas who played for WSW Is a strange celebration given the majority of them played 1 season then left. Going overseas is of course the next carear step, so put them aside. But many just went to a different A League club. It doesn't make great reading. To other A League W clubs (1 Season) Alana Kennedy - WSW 13/14 (1 season) -> Perth 14/15 Kyra Cooney Cross - WSW 19/20 (1 season) -> MV 20/21 Courtney Vine 19/20 WSW (1 season) -> Sydney FC 20/21 McKenzie Arnold 13/14 WSW (1 season) -> Perth Glory Teagan Micah WSW (1 Season) 15/16 -> Melbourne Victory To other A Leage W Clubs (>1 season at WSW) Ellie Carpenter 15/17 (2 seasons) -> Canberra Utd 17/18 Courtney Nevin 18/21 WSW (3 seasons) -> Melbourne Victory 21/22 Overseas Emily Van Egmond WSW 14/15 -> Overseas Clare Hunt -> Overseas Paul01 1
Unlimited Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I knew Teagan Micah was here but I didn't know M Arnold was too Wow Yeah that's umm... really bad from the club.

102megan Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 It seems WSW Women had a preseason match against Newcastle Jets today. But apparently no new coach bounce for us - still no win or goals scored for us.
102megan Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Was nice weather and the match was actually promoted / open to football fans - so I headed up the Coast yesterday, to watch a pre-season match between the Women's CCM and the Nix. Was good to see some professional sides playing. MartinTyler 1

Sithslayer1991 Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Amy Harrison been officially made captain of the Wanderers Women's team this season. Keen for the derby, but I know Smurfettes are gonna melt us. This is just such poor build up by the club going into the season.
Sithslayer1991 Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Preview from ESPN really sums it up Western Sydney Wanderers As the A-League Women continues to grow and local rivals Sydney FC continue to set the standard, the underachieving Wanderers will once again attempt to wake the sleeping giant out west. Manager: Robbie Hooker Finish last season: 7th Key player: Bethany Gordon Strength: All the ingredients are there for the Wanderers to be a power in the A-League Women; sitting in what is traditionally the most fertile region for producing new talent and possessing the ability to invest in the squad and its facilities. The team got better as the 2022-23 season went on and players like Gordon, Sarina Bolden and Sophie Harding impressed. Question mark: Just what are the Wanderers actually trying to accomplish? All the ingredients are there for this team to be successful, but they've only ever played finals once in their history and proven almost incapable of hanging onto talent -- Lowe, Vine, Whyman and Henry are amongst those still in the league that left the club. Not only is Clare Hunt now with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving a void in the backline, but Kat Smith was replaced as coach by Hooker just 10 days out from the season with no explanation offered. -- Lynch 102megan and Unlimited 2

StringerBellend Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 AFL aren't stupid are they. Big A League W opening planned Syd v Us. AFLW out at kids school handing out invites to Swans Women's game at Henson Park. Hipster beer and food on the hill.. or can go to Allianz and pay 20 for a burger that is somehow both under cooked and over cooked at the same time Apparently both Swans women and GWS women are using Henson Park as a home ground to cash in on the inner west hipster parents

To be honest, there's enough time to go to the AFLW, and then the ALW. StringerBellend 1
102megan Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Roadtrip to Bathurst, dates finally confirmed. I believe Women's Membership gets fans entry into the match. Paul01 Posted October 17, 2023 Author Posted October 17, 2023 Smurfs brought back to the . Natalie Tobin gets an ACL injury. Sadly for her, season is over.
102megan Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Further to the above - three steps forward and one step back for Sydney FC... Three players returning from ACL injuries (Tori Tumeth, Taylor Ray and Aideen Keane), and one new ACL injury.
MartinTyler Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 ACL injuries amongst elite female footballers (all codes) is becoming more of a concern
102megan Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 15 minutes ago, MartinTyler said: ACL injuries amongst elite female footballers (all codes) is becoming more of a concern Absolutely. Not even just the footballers - cricket (and other sports) too! There needs to be more research and more money into ACL injuries in women, the players need to wear football boots specifically made for women's feet (I believe Olivia Price does!), etc. MartinTyler 1
Sithslayer1991 Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 17 hours ago, MartinTyler said: ACL injuries amongst elite female footballers (all codes) is becoming more of a concern Yea apparently its really common but there is no data in sport science regarding ACL injuries in female athletes for football. All the physio and surgeons are literally working from scratch as to how to best manage the injury. It will be more and more common now its gone professional until sport science catches up.

Unlimited Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 This was posted to Reddit - https://howe.how/football/ALW_season-guide_202324.pdf Very interesting! Shows that our women's team is absolutely dire, turns out our all-time top scorer is one Catherine Cannuli with 8. A record that has stood for almost nine years. Bizarre. We also only have two players with more than 50 appearances. Other than Mariners and Phoenix (who have only played 2 seasons) or Western United (only played 1), every other club has at least 7... mack, StringerBellend, Sithslayer1991 and 1 other 4
102megan Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Yes, Andrew Howe and his season guides are a highlight of the seasons!! I absolutely love the stats side of it all... a shame the stats on Wanderers are so damn dire though.! Unlimited 1
Davo Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 The other stat that stood out to me was the all time head to head records. Every other team has a superior head to head record against at least one other team except for us. Every club has won more games than they've lost against us, except for Adelaide and Newcastle (who have the same number of wins and losses, but a better goal difference), and Wellington and WU, who have the same wins, losses, and goal difference (although Wellington changed that yesterday).
