Tranquilo Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 The derby atmosphere was fantastic, the tifo amazing and the passion underneath it electric, yet after 10 years plus we still have a minority of passive fans in the RBB who are there just to soak in the atmosphere and watch the game. After so many years i'm sure many RBB Members get tired of telling their fellow members to join in with the chants, visuals etc and just don't have the energy anymore to argue with fans, but to experience middle age/elderly fans (Karens) on saturday night tap my shoulder complaining that their view is blocked while themselves just standing there not singing not particpating just being stunned mullets is a sad sight for sore eyes. Back in the beginning the bays would be packed with fans in the RBB with 2 stick banners, flags, etc making a sound a visual display, where no one had a chance of watching the match at all, yet we still have a minority who maybe have gotten used to watching the game during the season and come derby day are upset their view is blocked. Worst is that these "fans" complaining don't care if they are in the wrong and demand you move down from the rails or stop waving your flag/scarf and then contact security who side with them and you have no choice but to comply or be escorted out by the coppers ready to earn their hard worked overtime. I then told the security if i'm blocking their view from standing on the rails, now you must tell the 20 rows infront of me to also get the fans down from the rails as they are also blocking their view. I then proceeded to yell to the rest down her eye of view path to get down from the rails and stop waving your scarves, flags as the people behind me can't see the match! Then you have the white knights in shining armour who also want to defend the flogs by having a go at you for blocking their perfect view they had before. This wasn't in the side bays was in the heart of the RBB near the top. If these fans are members which some told me they were then despite the club and the RBB doing all they can to lay the terms of the "active" bays some still don't get the point across and never will. If i'm blocking your view then it seems that you should be upstairs watching the match where your view isn't obstructed. The security also coming down the aisles trying to push everyone to the aisles constantly was annoying also and the heavy handed tactics in the 2nd half from the Cops was disgraceful packing the aisles and pushing people to the sides was uncalled for, this caused tension between some fans and cops and could of easily kicked off badly, luckily better heads calmed down and didn't over react. Luckily the cops pissed off after about 15/20 minutes but the combination of both heavy handed cops and flogs leaves a sour taste in your mouth, worse than losing the match to the smurfs when mierda like this repeats its ugly head time after time despite us being 10 years old. Anyways rant over lets get back to bringing the best atmosphere that we can to make the RBB a fortress, and stand your ground, jump, chant, bring your flags, stand high on the rails and give your 100% in the RBB. That is all that is required, the flogs will eventually learn to join in on time or to retire gracefully to the stands so their precious view isn't tainted. nmh94, alexd, Wanderboy and 8 others 11

The active section is there for a reason. Its to create atmosphere and support the team in its own unique way. If you want to enjoy the atmosphere and watch the game at the same time, it can very easily be done from the stands. Give the phones a rest as well in the active, very easy to tell whose first and only game of the season it is judging by that. If you're going to be in the active, at least try to contribute or join in. Tranquilo, Edinburgh, Smoggy and 1 other 4
GunnerWanderer Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Good rant have read many over the years. I'm sure I'll read many more in coming years. No silver bullet to this, just try and encourage others. Edinburgh and Tranquilo 2

SBW Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I haven’t been in active in years, do we still have core leaders using the megaphones to scream in the face of the flogs who are not active?

SBW Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Yeah I remembered in Gosford away the Capo lost his **** at people sitting in the away bays not being active.
GD07 Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 (edited) Like it has been said almost ad nauseam, if you want to watch the game **** off and sit in one of the many other areas. Want to add to the atmosphere stay in the standing section. But remember what the expectations are. You might miss parts of the game because of a flag or jumping around but oh well. I mean I didn’t know Marcelo had gone off until half time, I didn’t know we’d copped a red until full time. These things happen. 🤷♂️ Edited February 21, 2023 by GD07 Tranquilo 1
