RODWELL GIVING HIS ALL

Jack Rodwell On His Impressive Debut And Giving His All For The Red & Black In The 2021/22 Season.

Rodwell came on in the 77th minute of the Derby and looked almost certain to score with his powerful strike in the top corner just being saved by Sydney FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne.

The chance summed up both a positive and frustrating night for the Red & Black who gave their all in the match and only came away with a point.

“I thought it was in all the way. It was a great save actually,” said Rodwell on his close chance.

“It would have been the icing on my cake for my debut. But I thought the lads put it all out there, obviously we wanted to win and give the fans something to cheer about. We got a point and we’re onto the next one.”

Looking ahead, Rodwell is confident that he can make a difference to the Wanderers this season and if Saturday is any inclination, the Red & Black faithful should be confident for the future.

“I’m 30 years old and I still feel like that I’ve got the best years ahead of me still,” said Rodwell. That’s why I came here, I didn’t come here to come on holiday. I’m here to give it my all. We’ve got a great team here, great manager so let’s see what we can do.”

Good to see he is here to try and put his career somehow back on track. He had a superb debut...and it was just unfortunate he didn't get the goal from outside the box. Really looking forward to seeing more of him.

Jack Rodwell popped up on the global game with Simon Hill. If you listen to the whole show he starts around 33 minutes or you can listen to the snippet they have which goes for 14 minutes. Mostly leading up to the derby and how he has settled definitely loving life here but a bit frustrated the way the season has gone.

End of season what? Party?

Yep if we don't get a few wins about now, then it will be little point him playing in our making the numbers up games

Gone.

Apparently might be off to the smurfs.

If they can get him on the pitch he will be a good signing for them eh.

Big if though.

It's a double challenge - stay on the park for more games AND play like a marquee (at least visa level) for all those games. He wasn't outstanding for most of the games he played.

There were moments when class showed but to few and far between - perhaps Rudan's thinking???

I kind of get that. From what we've seen there hasn't been a great deal to speak of. J-Rod showed glimpses but didn't set the world in fire. Those up close would have seen even more clearly what he might/mightn't bring. Looking at Bozanic and Amalfitano (in only one game) they brought more energy and control on the ball than J-Rod did.

Even in the A League All Stars, he was nowhere near the best option. Caceres and Piscopo were far better. I guess we will see.

Harper really gave to the Smurfs for relying on him in this weeks episode on Round Ball Rules. Midseason review as well.
