Guide To Stream A-League On 10/Paramount

Recommended Posts

There's enough people asking about this and wanting help that I figure a proper thread for it.

https://10play.com.au/ - Will have some FTA A-League & National team games.

https://www.paramountplus.com (requires subscription), will have most of the A-League games and some national team games, as exclusives (not on 10play).

Options include:

  • Streaming on the website on a PC from the links above.
  • Apple and Android both have native apps for phones/ipads.
  • TV's with Android TV have an app for Paramount+
  • Chromecasts and Apple TV boxes can be used on any TV, even old 'dumb' televisions.
  • Other stream devices like Amazon Firestick, Fetch TV, I believe the latest Foxtel IQ box also has an app system which might have 10+ & Paramount+ on it.

The biggest issue most people are having is those on Samsung and LG, smart TV's. These have a different native app system to those with Android TV's. In that case, it would be best to use either a laptop/ipad attached to the TV to act as another monitor and then stream the website OR to purchase either a Chromecast or an Apple Box, with one-off costs with no additional subscriptions for access. Paramount has said they are working on the Samsung app so hopefully they will bring it soon. Only those for the individual apps like Netflix & Paramount+ and can allow the various FTA streaming apps, youtube, music etc. This would also apply to 'dumb' TV's (eg a lot of old Plasma TV's) or older TV's with broken/slow smart features that are unlikely to work or get the apps.

The major difference between a Chromecast & Apple TV box, apart from the operating system itself, is that an Apple Box has an ethernet port built into the box, if you have an ethernet port near the TV or will run a ethernet cable from your internet modem/router to the box. Chromecasts are WIFI only without buying their adapter.

However you should doublecheck on the Samsung TV itself and see if you might be able to access 10play/paramount+ now.

People with technical know-how can also use Kodi, an app/program for streaming programs. There are docker apps for 10play & Paramount available, here is a sub-forum on whirlpool where these are posted about, the two relevant ones to us are the 10 Play and Paramout+ add-ons I use it on my PC because I prefer how the streams work on Kodi than the native websites, especially the 10play website. I always use Kodi for Channel 10 streams because of their atrocious amount of ads (which don't get shown on Kodi), though you might need to stop the stream and restart it occasionally. Paramount+ I don't mind it's in-browser player so I watch most of it's content in there, we'll see when they start doing live streams if that continues. Another helpful tip is that there is a "my list" feature where you can bookmark programs to make them easier to find.

For what it's worth I'm on a 2019 Samsung TV and it looks like 10Play has finally been updated in the last week to have the live channels. Was able to watch tonight's FFA cup match without any issues.

If you also have a 2019+ Samsung make sure you have the latest version of 10Play installed.

For Paramount+ however there's no app yet, but apparently one is coming very soon.

So I did post about this earlier this year when my old man wanted to watch socceroo mini games but the app wasn't working. He does have a samsung TV and the fix he implemented was turning off at the powerpoint for 30 seconds and turning it back on which seems to refresh the settings. The app worked ok after that. The other option is to update the 10play app and it may also work. However if it still doesn't work and you wish to use the smart tv you can use the internet web browser as it WILL work there.

In the end though you may need to chromecast from your phone or tablet, unfortunately if you thought 7 app was terrible from the Olympics, 10play is worst. Hopefully Paramount + isn't too painful to use once A-league starts

I'm the same. Bought a Samsung tv a few months ago and the 10Play app has worked fine the whole time.

Hopefully they'll have a Paramount+ native app soon as that would be pretty convenient. I have a Fetch tv box that Optus gave me for free after they screwed up the last World Cup so I've been watching Paramount+ through that.

Get a Chromecast with Google TV. $99 and it does everything, the remote even controls my whole tv now. Piece of piss.

I bought the Chromecast with Google TV about a month ago and it's brilliant. All the streaming apps that I want are all in the one place.

I also have a Fetch TV in another room - 10Play, Paramount Plus and Optus Sport all work fine.

There is also the Amazon Firestick 4K which is on special at the moment for $49 (run out model, usually $99).
Similar to the Chromecast with Google TV. 10Play, Paramount plus and Optus Sport apps all available.
The only problem with the Firestick is there is no App for 'Binge Australia' (Foxtel streaming app).

Yep did the same for my bedroom TV, and I’ll swap it to the lounge tv when needed. Bought it today, all set up, happier than a fatty in a lollie shop.

And ftr , my bloody brand new Samsung (enter all the acronyms of all the shite it has) doesn’t have the Paramount app. Crazy.

Seems like they’ll actually update the Google TV OS and apps, regularly too. Too many smart TVs are redundant after long cause the OS is neglected long term by the developer.

So, after having difficulties last weekend downloading Paramount+ on my 4 yo Panasonic smart tv last weekend, I went to JB Hi Fi last Sunday and bought a Google Chromecast with Google tv. The $99 version.

Anyway, it was set up today and was a piece of piss. Took all of about 20 minutes, and 10 mins of that was waiting for the Chromecast to download the apps through my wi-fi.

Paramount+ wasn't one of them, so easily downloaded that as well afterwards. Also downloaded the 10Play app.

Everything working perfectly now.

When I say it was a piece of piss and easy, it's only because young Wanderboy did it all for me.

If I'd tried, I'd still be there reading the instructions and cursing the damn thing. :)

I'm a happy dad now. :xbop:

That’s how I’m currently using it. Works fine.

Does it make you have a google home type thing?

Posted

Thanks. I reset my chromecast a while back when it started having issues, and after the reset it demanded that I create a google home account, or that I download the google home app, which I didn't want to do. So, I'm guessing though that's still the case with new ones? You don't need a google home device, but you need to sign up for a google home account/download the app onto whatever device you are going to use?

So for those of us who didn't sign up to the $75 offer as part of the membership to get the yearly subscription to Paramount +, what's the best option to get access now?

The new APL website https://keepup.com.au/signup offers free 30 day account after sign up.

Other options is to share the account as up 3 devices can simultaneous stream.

How many ports are there?

We currently run a PVR (remember them?), a Fetch box and a DVD player going into the 3 individual ports on the TV.

Log into your wsw account and it should be there as an add-on. I believe my brother did that this week. Just waiting for the code to be sent out.

Cheers man.

When Anthony gets his code let me know and I'll follow suit!

If a games already started via Paramount+ can you watch it from the start - like the function they have on Optus ?

Posted

Good question.... gotta say, it's looking a bit budget at the moment on there isn't it. Most streaming services would have the games up there already, even if you couldn't select them yet, or you'd get a countdown or something. Unless I'm missing something I can't see tonights game anywhere.

They'll feel the wrath of Sokkah Twitter if they manage to **** the first round up. At least they've had trial runs with national team games etc.

The Kodi add-on for Paramount has been updated by it's maintainer to work with the live streams now, with a little prodding from yours truly.

The P+ stream max quality is 1920x1080, 25fps and a decent bitrate. Hopefully they work on it and continue to improve it. First point of call would be getting to 60fps.
