Midfielder Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 (edited) Where do we start and good news FA today announced FIFA breaks to be included next season. I have started this thread with some known Vaccine numbers with the given we need to get to 80%... August is about to start... and given Cov and vaccine etc ... This is me playing with published data to day. Vaccine given in Australia ..... Then who has had both jabs.... % of people with both jabs... 11.6 Million vaccine given... 3.55 Million both jabs.... fully vaccinated is 14%. Thus the maths... IF 3.55 Million = 14% What % is 11.6 million Then how much is 80%. If 3.55 = 14% 11.6 million = 45.7 % meaning just under half the population has had the first jab.. To get to 80% ... If 3.55 = 14% 11.6 = 45.7% 20.28 = 80%. Assume One million jabs a week ... we need 8.68 million jads to reach 80% of people having at least their first jab...plus another 7.05 million for the second jab... meaning we need another 15 million jabs. Say 4 months... meaning early January to reach 80% Edited July 30, 2021 by Midfielder Paul01 and Unlimited 2
Midfielder Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Left part out.. Of the new 8.68 million some will need two jabs.. Meaning the figure will be around 22 million so mid February...

As for 90%, we have far more than 10% of anti vax folk... and I think the medical advise is 80%... but as I said this is a thread about the upcoming A_league season... The Cov start was simply to say when we should be or hopefully reach high vaccine levels... the discussion on cov issues is in other threads... wendybr and Paul01 2

Midfielder Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 https://www.a-league.com.au/news/countdown-starts-towards-campaign-football-keep-fans-transfixed Seven months of the best of Australian football will kick off on October 30, it was revealed today, as clubs, players and fans gear up for the launch of the game’s new home on Network 10 and Paramount+. Just weeks after Melbourne City secured the A-League championship to close off a widely praised season for both the A-League and the W-League, the start and finish dates for the new campaigns were unveiled today by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The new A-League season will kick off on October 30 and the W-League a fortnight later on November 13, building on the excitement of the last domestic campaigns and Olympic adventures for both the Matildas and Olyroos. The new seasons will herald the first domestic football on Network 10 and Paramount+ as the multi-year agreement to show both leagues, the Socceroos and Matildas and the FFA Cup gets underway. Paramount+ officially launches on August 11 with the new streaming service and APL offering all football fans the opportunity to bundle Paramount+ into their club memberships. The men’s season will kick off on October 30, with a suitably high-octane clash as the first of Network 10’s weekly Saturday night football broadcasts. All eyes will then be on the women’s league when it kicks off on November 13, with the opening fixture shown on free-to-air. The A-League will pause for that weekend during the men’s international window, after APL and Football Australia worked together to put the fans first and reduce the number of club-v-country clashes. The club football season will then reach a crescendo with the A-League Grand Final scheduled to be played on May 28. Danny Townsend, APL managing director, said: “This is a huge year for Australian football and now we can all start the countdown to the start of the men’s and women’s seasons. We’ve seen the whole country get behind the Olyroos and Matildas, and from October and November, fans can get all the leagues’ action on Network 10 and Paramount+. “We’re less than two weeks out from the launch of Paramount+, and three months away from seeing the very first domestic football on the platform in Australia, as well as in every Australian home on Network 10.” As with last season, the fixtures calendar will contain a number of contingency measures to allow for disruption caused by COVID-19 and associated border closures. wendybr 1

Midfielder Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 This should be great for the A-L season ... just posted the start of the article much more in the article.. https://africa.espn.com/football/australia-aus/story/4441281/football-australia-adds-national-second-tier-to-football-pyramid-in-calendar-restructure Football Australia adds national second tier to football pyramid in calendar restructure The introduction of a national second tier has taken a significant step forward with Football Australia inserting a placeholder for the competition into the nation's domestic football calendar for 2021-22. The new schedule will be unveiled on Friday and will see an aligned Australian football pyramid played year-round through 2021-22, beginning with the A-League season on Oct. 29 and concluding with the FFA Cup final on Oct. 28, 2022. Football Australia will also introduce other reforms for the international breaks and to the National Premier Leagues (NPL).
Midfielder Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 RE the above posts.. Season start 30 October... Thats 12 weeks away... Cov.... assume by then 8 million with both jabs and another 2 million with one jad... so nowhere near 80% ... 12 weeks ... NSW out of lockdown ?????? assume other states are out of lock down... maybe NSW teams in a inter state hub... and certainty Nux in a state hub ... Love the stuff coming outta FA and APL ... so different to previous years... Wanderboy 1
Davo Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 The second tier stuff is pretty big. While it's only a placeholder and I don't in any way think there'll be a national second tier in 21-22 it at least gets the ball rolling on things like season time and length, which in turn can start discussions on player salaries and club structures. Up to now it was all so vague and meaningless. Now there's a starting point to negotiate from. Carns 1
Carns Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 They said they were aiming for a 2023 start, pretty sure they said that about 2021 and 2022. But agree it's a positive step.

Sithslayer1991 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 WA and Queensland are the most likely states that would continue close borders. It depends on how their vaccine rates are going or more likely if FFA was finally able to get exemptions for Football clubs that aren't AFL or NRL.

mack Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Hubs are off the table, but delays to the start of the season are very much an option. And possibly a requirement depending on how things go in NSW & Victoria.
Midfielder Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Reports today that APL are thinking of putting the season start to mid Nov.... Mariners CEO has suggested NSW games will be open to those double jabbed… I guess It matters if WA, SA, QLD open their boarders to NSW & VIC teams… The forecast is by mid Nov say from 19 Nov, the country will be at the 80% figure… play NSW teams in NSW, VIC teams in VIC and have WA play SA… it adds another week… meaning interstate travel on 26 Nov… Comes down then to whether various gov’s are going to open up by 26 Nov… looks unlikely at this stage… but there is a greater chance of being open on 26 Nov than 30 October…
MathyouWSW Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Melbourne City and Western United just had a trial match against each other. City won 2-1 (MacLaren scored one of the goals for City).

WHACKO Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 A delayed late November kick off is on the cards. Paul Lederer.

Keithie Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 (edited) Missed your post WHACKO,,,, Lederer's update for season 21/22 whilst he is working in Venice A-League kingpin Paul Lederer is “super positive” the looming domestic season will sizzle rather than fizzle, whilst admitting a delayed late November kick-off is on the cards. The Western Sydney Wanderers boss also doubles up as chairman of the Australian Professional Football Clubs Association (APFCA), which now calls the shots in running the competition. And with the $200 million TV rights deal with Channel 10 locked away, and further venture capital investment close to be realised, the billionaire businessman is feeling bullish. The nation's vaccination rate and state government border protocols have shelved an October start date. but an upbeat Lederer told FTBL: “It’s going to be a super positive season, I’m quite sure about it. “We have the TV rights in place - It’s looking better than it ever has. “I’m very confident about that. "We have a great board of directors (at the A-League helm), great management and great people working for us. It’s all positive. “Football has a hell of a lot to look forward to this season. We want to see crowds back - that will be the game changer for me.” As authorities look at vaccine passports and Covid-tested fans being eligible to enter stadiums come November, Lederer believes society at large cannot weather many more long-term lockdowns. “We don’t want any more games behind closed doors - I personally think the government has no option but to open up,” he added. “There’s no question you have to get to 70 or 80 per cent of people vaccinated, that’s understood. “But once you reach those sorts of levels you have to lift restrictions - there’s no other way. “Do you keep things locked down forever? That’s not realistic.” Lederer is currently in Venice on business, and catching up on some football viewing in Europe while he’s at, on a continent that has largely moved past lockdowns and opened the gates to fans this season. “We all have to learn to live and adapt (to the presence of Covid) and get on with things,”he added. “I’m sure Australia will soon be open also, there’s no choice.” Lederer remained coy over the identity of a lurking venture capitalist group poised to inject several millions more in to the competition’s coffers. “That’s a work in progress but it’s going to happen,” he said. “I can’t say too much more at this stage.” SHARE Copyright ©FTBL All rights reserved Edited September 21, 2021 by Keithie EmMac 1
MathyouWSW Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Apparently some of the fixture has been leaked: Who thought it was a smart idea to have the Sydney Derby in round 1? Idiots. Plus, the club confirmed it today that'll be taking place. Anyway, Kickoff is at 7:45pm on Saturday 20th November 2021 at Commbank Stadium (formerly known as BankWest Stadium for those that aren't aware of the name change). Round 2 sees the Wanderers take on the Jets. This will take place on Sunday 28th November 2021 and kickoff is at 6:05pm. Round 3 is the Wanderers first away game and it's against Wellington Phoenix. Venus is to be confirmed and the game takes place on Friday 3rd December 2021. Round 4 the Wanderers are back at home against the Bulls. The game is on Saturday 11th December 2021 and kick off is at 7:45pm Round 5 sees the Wanderers facing off against the Mariners. The venue is currently to be confirmed (not sure why it's not at Central Coast Stadium). The game looks to take place at 5pm on Saturday 18th December 2021. Round 6 the Wanderers will be playing against the Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium. The game is on Christmas Eve (Friday 24th December, 2021), kick off is at 6:05pm. The rest of the fixture is to be announced sometime soon.

No way they would have a season opening derby with just 5 k, especially since its the first free to air broadcast game of the new tv deal. That wouldn't be good advertising for the league. Sithslayer1991 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Its on the website now for the draw. From what it looks its like a conference style for the short term like how it started last year. Derby round 1 may have been because hey are limited in what draws they could do. And then who knows with Wellington Phoenix and Perth Glory with the hard borders.

My guess is they've specifically chosen the derby in round 1 because it'll be a big game for the first broadcast game and a theoretically big drawing game for viewers and spectators (restrictions allowing). From a football perspective it is a stupid decision so it seems to be from a commercial/marketing perspective. StringerBellend and DinoPresinger 2
