StringerBellend Posted October 21 Posted October 21 The shows on Youtube look so low budget, but can't complain it's football. Even if it does mean putting up with Archie Thompson, the vaccine hesitant melt

For context remember we are on a secondary channel and only 3 other shows from 10 made it on the list. Massive improvement from last season where no A-league games cracked the top 30. No doubt Mata and Costa had an impact but we also need to give credit to ch10 having a double header and their pre game show, so the new format clearly works. So there is life after all. Combined with the fact that the overall attendance was higher than any round last season, and there are some positive overall signs. StringerBellend, Edinburgh, Sithslayer1991 and 1 other 4

But that's it from DAZN and Foxtel cut everything football out. I can't see them trying for A-league. Sorry still very pessimistic, by the end of the last deal Foxtel was happy to be rid of A-league and have since removed all football content. For DAZN to get into he football market it would take heavy investment with a lot of rights already locked up at Optus, Bein and Stan, and I don't know APL is willing to move from ch10/P+ after the FFA deal that was finalised.

APL were dudded by the P+ deal where it was an incentivised which Paramount can pay as low as they want, I heard that this year's deal was $16m, far cry from the $40m a season deal the APL signed, hence the reason why club's got a very low distribution payout from APL this season. The only way for APL to stay with 10/P+ is not to get a dud deal again, but its unlikely Paramount will top dollar again for the A-League We will see if DAZN are very keen to get football back onto foxtel and are keen to bid for the EPL rights from Optus because that's probably going to be the only way they're going to get subscribers again
mack Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Paramount did the APL a favour by bidding for the rights before they even had a service to put it on, thanks to Foxtel ripping up the contract, lowballing them on the one year "Tuba Guy" season and not bothering to bid a realistic amount after that. APL was at one point considering a budget youtube feed to watch games. APL was not dudded by P+, they were the only ones that said they wanted the A-league because ch10 needed sport content. The rumour was Stan at one point but they never put an offer forward. I still don't see this situation improving, I can't see who would want A-league aside from P+ who need it for subscribers StringerBellend 1

The A League isn't performing let's face it nobody gives a **** about it apart from about 6000 or so hard core per club (less for some)
