if we had those trams..... the inner city would have them instead of the multitude of buses they have, and PT would still be shite in the west.

March 2021 update on the D-Sets

In part it reads..

All New Intercity Fleet trains will undergo an extensive period of testing and commissioning, and must complete a number of critical activities before starting customer service.

This includes familiarising staff with the new train through education and training exercises, finalising consultation with stakeholders and other operational readiness activities.

Once these have been completed, the New Intercity Fleet is expected to be ready for customers on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line in early 2021.

A timeline for when the trains will start operating on the Blue Mountains and South Coast lines will be determined after more trains are delivered and further testing completed.

To see the journey from the arrival of the first two new trains to completing their first stages of testing, including travelling on the network under their own power, please see our New Intercity Fleet arrival and testing video below.

Weep.... starts at Central in a fully restored Red Rattler Tis amazing when they film things like this so many things come back to you an eg for me was clips and holds for the window.

But BEST by FAR is the parallel running of the Red Rattle & the 3801 between Central & I think Croydon...

parramatta had two tram lines, including one that went to castle hill. they should have been kept and expanded.

Apparently the tram lines are still under Windsor Road heading towards Castle Hill.

i'm unsure if they changed the track (to a heavier rail) when they converted from a tramway to a railway but i'm sure there's plenty of stuff left underground. i know they've found tramlines when doing roadworks & light rail works on George street and Church street.

this book has a lot of information on a few long lost western sydney lines. the whole series of books are quite fascinating. highly recommend.

oh I thought that was just a rail line, didn't realise it was a tram.

that's still only a couple compared to the big network in the east that existed though. here's one someone made which (they say) incorporates all the routes that ever existed:

originally it was a tram line that went from the south side of parramatta station, under the rail line and all the way up church street, windsor road then onto old northern road to castle hill. in the 20's it was converted to railway line that went from westmead station and ran north-east to the start of windsor road then up to castle hill and then on to the extension to Rogan's Hill.

it was described as turning a useful tramway into a useless railway

sound only .... just a couple of pictures...

Its the sounds of a Red Rattler between Seven Hills & Parramatta...

AMAZED at the memories this brought back..... the sounds, those comfy seats, the smell of the brakes, the windows, the doors, hanging out the door...
