Matt Jurman was so inconsistent with us, but we have seen how Robinson can turn players around and help them perform. Shows how good our recruitment combined with the kids coming through has been when I’m not sure I’d take any of them, whereas for the last three or four seasons I’d have took all of them Izzo maybe? He’d challenge Margush Jurman, wouldn’t improve the team, we already have Tass, McGowan, Natta and Ziggy who are better Brillante he’d have got a start last game but not with dorrans back and Mutch coming to fitness EmMac and Edinburgh 2
GunnerWanderer Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Going through same thing we did with popa still more pain from them Zappa said in post game show only our game he spoke the MV chairman confirmed Brebner is going nowhere - he has the dreaded chairman’s backing!
MathyouWSW Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Elvis Kamsoba thought it was a smart idea to go out and celebrate the 6-0 loss to Melbourne City:

wendybr Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Hasn't gone over too well with the fans, by the sound of the comments I read.
Hughesy Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Victory have gone from one of the biggest, most efficient and successful clubs in Australian sport to a shambles overnight. From an outsiders perspective it’s like they’ve stopped trying. Very strange. I actually don’t think their squad this season is that bad at all. They’re a decent outfit but just don’t seem to be able to put it together. With all respect to Brebner I think a club of that size and stature need to be recruiting a more established manager. wendybr 1

The cracks were showing the season they had Honda at the club. From there they could have fixed them or they got bigger.
Sithslayer1991 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 I think its come down to losing both Milligan and Valeri in midfield which anchored Victory for so long have never been adequately replaced Hughesy, GunnerWanderer, wendybr and 1 other 4

MathyouWSW Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 They are going to try and sign Popovic. He has until Tuesday to give them an answer. Talay is their second choice. I'm surprised there's no mention of Muscat.
GunnerWanderer Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 No surprise it’s always going to be popa or muscat but muscat obviously isn’t ready to help the needy haha wendybr 1

I don't what popa will do but I think Talay would say yes because his contract is up end of this season
Davo Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Garby reckons JP's getting overlooked for another assistant manager.
Davo Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Garby reckoned correctly. You know things haven't gone well when you have an interim manager and an interim assistant manager. StringerBellend and MathyouWSW 1 1

theguyyouwishyouwere Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 lol victory are gonna look like they've never played before in no time because the entire team will be training by themselves
mack Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 Twitter reports saying Popa is in July. Confirmed in email to members. Quote Today, I would like our members to be the first to know that we have appointed Tony Popovic to be the A-League Head Coach of Melbourne Victory commencing in July. Tony has signed for the next three seasons. Tony brings to our club a wealth of coaching experience and a record of success. He has a deep understanding and knowledge of the A-League and the nuances associated with the competition. He was the standout candidate with two A-League Premierships and a historic AFC Champions League title. Tony has a strong and clear leadership approach and is driven to deliver the next period of success for the Club. As is always the way at Melbourne Victory, Tony as Head Coach will be responsible for the entire A-League program overseeing support staff, recruitment, list management and our A-League playing style and performance. The Board is committed to providing Tony with the resources he requires, both on and off the field, to drive success at Melbourne Victory. He will be taking a keen interest in our current roster, over the next six weeks, and will be looking at what he needs to build a successful team going forward. Tony is equally looking forward to being part of the Club and getting to know the staff, members, fans and partners. In our discussions in the lead up to his appointment Tony made it clear that he had “watched the Club from afar as a player and a coach and that Melbourne Victory is a proud club renowned throughout the A-League for its strong culture and its passionate member and fan base.” On behalf of everyone at the Club, we welcome Tony and look forward to his arrival soon. With regard to the remainder of this season, it is going to be a challenge given the circumstances we are in and with a depleted squad. However, the Club’s expectation is that all our current players show intent and a determined fighting spirit. Interim Head Coach, Steve Kean, has made it very clear that all players are playing for their futures. It is also an opportunity for our younger squad members to demonstrate their ability and character at the highest level. Obviously, it has been an incredibly tough week with Grant Brebner and the Club parting ways over the weekend. Grant is a champion of Melbourne Victory and will always be a part of this club. We will continue to support him in whatever his next steps are. We are all extremely disappointed with our current position but Tony’s appointment is a significant step in building towards our Club’s next phase of success. As a club, we are determined to do what is required to support Tony and get back to where we should be. We will continue to keep you, our members, updated as developments occur.
