MathyouWSW Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) So... You've got Good and Delbridge fighting for 1st choice Centre Back alongside Richard Windjammer You've got Jamieson, Galloway and Garluccio fighting for 1st choice left back. You've got Atkinson and Galloway fighting for 1st choice right back. You've got O'Neill and Griiffths fighting for 1st choice CDM's Unless Kisnorbo decides to have them on rotation, I feel one of these players mentioned above will get the s*its cause they ain't getting enough game time and decide to leave mid-season. MartinTyler Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Japanese attacker....sounds Kamikaze like
MathyouWSW Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Just realised the link I made on his name goes back to this page, apologies. As Stringer said, he has spent majority of his career on loan with Giravanz Kitakyushu which is a J2-J3 league club. https://www.transfermarkt.com/naoki-tsubaki/profil/spieler/491198
MathyouWSW Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Richard Windbichler has departed Melbourne City.
MathyouWSW Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 City could be losing Harrison Delbridge: Could be heading back to MLS as he has received offers from there and received offers from clubs in K-League, China and south Asian clubs

Plus CFG couldn't have those upstarts from Western Sydney with better facilities than their illegally financed football club in Melbourne.
Carns Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Team 11 approached City. Seems a smart move for all involved, IMO. ItchyNek, Sithslayer1991 and sonar 3

Carns Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 It would be amazing if every club decided they wanted to have the best facilities in the country and tried to one up each other with their training/academy bases. It would only benefit football in this country. Yes, City (and WSW) have an ulterior motive in wanting to on sell players, but that is how academies work all over the world. It's not done out of the kindness of their heart, it's a business decision. StringerBellend and Paul01 2
Davo Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Yeah unless the A-League wants to go toe to toe with the Premier League, La Liga, etc. then the whole business model needs to be about developing players to sell overseas for decent transfer fees. I've always thought our club should have something like the Ajax model. They know they aren't going to regularly compete with Europe's best but they have a top academy, a defined identity and playing style and a bunch of club legends coaching or working at the top of the club. They regularly win their league, occasionally have a big run in the Champions League and make good money when their players are ready to move on. I'd be happy with that. MathyouWSW Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Melbourne City had a trial match against Bentleigh Greens. They won 1-0 which I'm a bit surprised about (Goal was scored by Craig Noone in the 11th minute). I thought they would put at least 2-3 goals passed them. City's line up listed below: 1. Tom GLOVER (GK), 3. Scott JAMIESON, 7. Rostyn GRIFFITHS, 8.Aiden O'NEILL, 9.Jamie MACLAREN, 11.Craig NOONE,15.Andrew NABBOUT, 18. Connor METCALFE, 19.Ben GARUCCIO, 20.Adrian LUNA, 22. Curtis GOOD Subs: 33. Matthew SUTTON, 45. Max CAPUTO, 46. Harry POLITIDIS, 48. Emin DURAKOVIC, 49. Dom FOLINO One player to keep an eye on is Harry Politdis. He came on in the second half and fired two great shots towards the Bentleigh Greens keeper. Also, Bentleigh were very unlucky not to get the equaliser near the 88' minute. They had two opportunties but Glover managed to stop them. Melbourne City remain undefeated in their pre-season with draws against Victory (3-3) Jets (3-3) and 2 wins against Western United (2-1 and 3-2) plus tonight's win against Bentleigh Greens.
papersun Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 City about to sign a Portuguese central defender with a decent pedigree, already in quarantine according to the World game. Could be Nuno Reis.

Carns Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Very interesting article on how City went about changing their culture, style and mindset to become competitive. A few lessons WSW could learn, starting with having an Director of Football. wendybr, MathyouWSW, Edinburgh and 1 other 4
Davo Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Three year deal. The team that could finish 19 points ahead of us have already signed one of the best non-visa players available.
