WHACKO Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 You can't have owners of three other A-League clubs running the club. It's just a joke.

MartinTyler Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Be interesting to see what happens with all the ex-Wanderers

mack Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 Palm Tree = Something to do with the Mariners. Considering the state of the club I would rule out a change in coach, Stanton would be pretty cheap and they're in 7th place which is good. Player changes? Bernie Ibini is a free agent, and he was a Mariners player for a while. Maybe signing him would upset the fans? Apart from that, the only thing I could think of that would have something to do with the Mariners would be Mike Charlesworth taking the Jets over?
mack Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 Looks like it might be a fixture swap. The R5 Jets vs Mariners game is going to be played in Gosford, and their match later in the year will be in Newcastle instead.

mack Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 Apparently the "multi-club entity" Gamechanger 20 are in talks to takeover. They currently own Ipswich Town in the UK, the Phoenix 2nd tier club in the US.
Sithslayer1991 Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I think this is the deal Simon Hill has mentioned on Global game for the past month where a deal will be struck by Christmas but won't be officially announced until January

SBW Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Newcastle Professor behind blood pressure breakthrough An Italian billionaire is believed to be a highly-interested party in taking over ownership of the Newcastle Jets. According to the FTBL website, Danilo Iervolino, an entrepreneur who founded online university UniPegaso in 2006, boasts plans to invest in up to four organisations outside his native country. It’s believed the 45-year-old, the owner of Serie A organisation US Salernitana 1919, is looking to build a portfolio of clubs across various jurisdictions. A $10 million figure has been flouted by FTBL for the sale. But, he faces competition for the Hunter A-League outfit from a US consortium as well. Iervolino started UniPegaso at age 28 and grew it to become the largest in Italy, serving more than 120,000 students. He sold his company Multiversity, which includes UniPegaso, to private equity firm CVC Capital Partners for $1.3 billion in October 2021. FTBL reports he is a long-time student of football, ploughing more than $100 million into the club he saved from Serie A expulsion two year ago. “The owners-in-waiting have already communicated to coach Rob Stanton their desire to hold onto to core performers such as Phillip Cancar, Lucas Mauragis, Clayton Taylor and Mark Natta, while focusing on beefing up the club’s youth development structures,” it stated. Currently, the Jets are under the control of benefactors Sydney FC, Western United and Western Sydney Wanderers, who have funded Newcastle since January 2021. In-form keeper Ryan Scott last week threw his support behind any new proprietorship bid. “It would be great for the Jets, especially to have owners who are keen to come on board and help the club and playing group,” he told the Newcastle Weekly. “Hopefully, it comes to fruition." “We know there’s a bit going on in the background, however we’re just focused on playing games and winning games. “I guess the more matches we can win, it’ll make the sale go through easier. “If you’re sitting at the bottom of the ladder, you mightn’t seem lucrative. “However, if we can get up the table – while the girls are also travelling well – maybe any prospective owner can see we’re all heading in the same direction.” https://newcastleweekly.com.au/italian-billionaire-eyeing-off-newcastle-jets/

How do Newcastle, who are basically owned by us, end up with a cheap, young and quality striker, but we end up with yet another foreigner that can't cut it here?
mack Posted February 28 Author Posted February 28 Because he's been poor his entire career and we want players who have at least proved themselves at a high level. Stamatelopoulos had only scored 13 goals in his senior career until this season. Antonsson scored more goals in one season in the top league of Sweden than that. His last club before coming back to Australia he played 17 games and score zero goals. I can't imagine our supporters would be happy if he was the guy we signed as a Layouni replacement. We got Brook and Milanovic as well, so we still have some quality young players. Sithslayer1991, Edinburgh, BoyFromTheWest and 1 other 4

Sithslayer1991 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 He has a bit of Taggart in him doesn't he, where confidence plays a major role in how well he plays and he covers a lot of ground with his movement. Taggart use to do the same at Newcastle before his move to Korea where he really was scoring goals for fun. Jets having a very speedy frontline also helps as it creates space for him to exploit. Stamatelopoulos is in that sort of form where he just expects to score now, confidence is really high.
