When this years squad was being put together we all assumed Dylan R D would be part of the squad....

HOWEVER he was not popular with the coaching staff sorta believed his own hype and articles being written about him....

I hope he grows up and I am sure he will in Europe, but from someone close to the coaching staff they were not that keen to resign him unless a change in attitude...

I've always said that about Dylan.

From what I have been told back in his Wanderers youth days, the boys didn't like him because of his attitude and the way he treated them.

Sounded like he was quite a stuck-up prick, very arrogant.

When he scored against us in the Y-League a few years ago he went absolutely crazy and acted as if he scored in the World Cup final (also by that point I think we were 4-0 down).

He has immense skill, could be one of Australia next big things, but someone needs to give him a kick up the ass cause he needs a change in attitude badly.

If you're not humbled after playing in the ******* Polish fifth tier, nothing will humble you. What a dickhead. Just another young player with stars in his eyes who should've stayed here and dominated before considering anything overseas.

Polish 5th tier oh man

Just lol what an idiotic career move

I've said it before on the forum but I used to work with two relatives of Dylan's at my old job and they would ALWAYS hype about him as soon as I started talking about football while in the office or someone else that mentions football.

When he scored the double against Melbourne Victory last season, they raved on about it for a week and kept asking me "did you watch the game? did you see him scored a double? Do you think he should get called up for Australia?" etc.

They also mentioned that Dylan and Matt Simon DID NOT get along at all, So I feel this is the reason why he wanted to leave Central Coast Mariners

Plus, they did tell me once that he was offered to sign to some Chinese club and he declined the offer because Dylan felt like he wouldn't progress his career if he was to sign to some Chinese club, he rather play for some European club.

Personally, I don't think signing for a fifth tier Polish club would be considered a 'career progression' at all, it feels like a backwards step. I'm curious to which Ukrainian club and Russian club he went on trial for.

Please, please , please understand understand we are kinda shell shocked on the Coast... Staj is an exceptional coach he and others....build this squad ... thats so F......ings important to understand... he let players go and built a squad on the cheap... he has Matty S & DDS playing their best Football ever in their careers ... add Nissy and others....

Still finding it hard to believe what a difference a excellent coach makes to results and player confidence....

I don't see us top of the table at seasons end... but its great to have a time to dream what could be...

Way too early. Give it a couple of years and we’ll probably sign him Yeboah style.

I was thinking exactly the same thing last night.

Any ideas on what's behind the enormous improvement by Central Coast this season?   It's difficult for me to put a finger on any one reason, but  the signing of Oliver Bozanic would have to be close to the signing of the season. Urena has helped, so too the development of Kuol but I can't get over the improvement of every player in the squad.

Players like Tongyik who had been bouncing from club to club over the past few seasons, De Silva whose career seemed to be on a downward spiral, Rowles stagnating, even Clisby looks a much better player, Simon scoring goals again.

Has the standard of the league dropped much this season?  I must admit it's been extremely entertaining watching the neutral matches.

How much can be attributed to Alan Stajcic, who at any other club would have been  dismissed last season?  Is that a lesson for other clubs including us to learn from?

Finally it's probably the perfect time for Charlesworth to sell the club, wonder if he'll have a change of mind though.

Most of it.

Remember he had the Matildas scaring the crap out of other teams and and had them as definite World Cup contenders prior to his removal and the terrible decision to install Milicic.

Agree Bozancic is signing of season.

No different to Popa in season 1. All players bought into the master plan and believing in themselves + the whole club/fans pulling in the same direction.

Stajcic also brought in a bunch of players that have worked well with his system. In our game with them this week he started Bozanic, Urena, Nigro and Bouman, and brought on Casella in the second half who were all off season signings.

Postecoglou had a mediocre season with Brisbane before they went on to become record breakers and champions. I'm not saying Staj is on the same level as Ange, but sometimes it takes a while to clear out some dead weight and instill your philosophies.

Agree that Staj has also got his players playing at their maximum ability. The stars havs aligned for them and best of luck to them.

People said the only reason WSW won the plate in our first season was because other teams were inconsistent and that might play a part this year too. City, Adelaide and Macarthur, for example, can be hot and cold and ESFC can't hit a barn when in attack.

Adelaide won their premiership in their double season because every else kept tripping up. Including WSW who threw it away.

Taking advantage of other teams failures and staying consistently competitive is what wind titles.

Didn't they go from winless in 8 and last place to first? I remember how frustrating it was as a WSW fan, but it'd be awesome being a Reds fan and experiencing that.

Such a frustrating season. We were 1st for majority of the season only to be run down by the team who were last nearly half way through the season. Having no marquee striker (after the wasted signing and early departure of Piovicari) cost us dearly again.

They were in last at the end of Round 8. In Round 16 they were up to 6th. In Round 24 they were still only in 4th place but they had got up to 2 points behind us in first. By the start of the final round they were only a point away from Brisbane. Then beat Melbourne City 2-0 in Melbourne to win the Premiership. Meanwhile we had a draw 0-0 against them in R24 (Bridge's famous late miss) then lost 2-0 to Victory and that was enough to throw away the title.

Most of it has to go the combined efforts of Staj management and Bozanic he is so key to how they play and absolute work horse in midfield. When he was at the Victory you couldn't see his qualities but in the Mariners you see how much he actually does and makes everyone look good too because he makes everyone's job easier. The emergence of Kuol, Tongyik finally being the defender that everyone saw he was and Urena impact just makes the Mariners what they are now.
