Sad day for us.... hope he is not lost to Football, equally would hate to see him at another A-L club.

I'm reading on Twitter that he was forced out; any truth in this?

no idea first I have heard of it does not sound correct as the current owner is always signing his praises...

My source is a fairly prominent and reliable one.

He is very popular with supporter's and past players.

If true would be a mega story on the Coast

Yeah I read this too.

It's intriguing if true! Curious by the owners of the club.

Hall as I understand it has signed for Auckland

Rumours are, SFC, WSW, MV, MC, Auckland, Nux all looking at Nisbet... with rumours MC offering the city group connections and a big bag  .... a bag the Mariners could never match....

Irks me a lot we have no internal transfers in Australia, it allows bigger clubs to cherry-pick off smaller clubs of their best players with no payment for often a years of development....

Hope Nisbet goes overseas...

The A-league off Air podcast Mcbreen mentioned that Kaltak has been getting interest from K-league, Nisbet has made it clear he wants to go overseas and has had a few enquiries, Ballard has gotten some interest (A-league and overseas) and Jacob Farrell as well has had overseas interest. That's on top of the Angel Torres rumours from January so it could a big rebuild coming up soon.

Every year has been a rebuild over most of our history...

Kaltak is getting interest from both the K & J leagues plus Auckland... I would assume other wealthy clubs in the A-L as well...  he will be difficult to replace if he goes... should have had a contract extension before the season kicked off...

Huge loss to football.

I mean, he’s worked at NRL clubs (namely Rabbitohs and Panthers) before football - but yes, absolutely still a loss!

Going to the Balmain Tigers is career suicide.

From.. FTBL

Confirms Nizzy has not signed with MC...

There is a fair bit in the article which explains how the Mariners are expanding both the scouting network, developing the academy, and attempting to grow player sales....

https://www.ftbl.com.au/news/melbourne-city-must-wait-as-mariners-marvel-nisbet-chases-euro-dream-606369

Copied the key bit about the scouting, development and revenue side.... Peil seems to be at least so far an astute and Football savvy owner..

Some eight months ago Peil personally forged an alliance with the outfit currently in a dog fight to avoid the drop, signing off on potential player swaps and a pilot scheme which would allow the Algarve-based club to add value to Mariners products with both sharing in potential transfer windfalls down the track.

“We have a close relationship with Portimonense and we have agreed for players to go both ways in the off-season. But, out of respect for Portimonense who are fighting against relegation. we’ll announce which players they are in due course.

“They are one of the best selling clubs in the world. They’re globally ranked in that regard. They spent circa $5 million on players last year and sold over $100 million worth of talent.

“For us to get better at talent production I wanted to be educated by the best and was lucky enough to gain an introduction to them, and spent a week there looking at their academy and picking the brains of their sporting director.

“They agreed to come and look at our youth academy each year, which they recently did, with a view to taking one to two players over there for 12 months, with the option of us sharing any transfer fees that can be generated.

“They can add value to players - they don’t sell players for $2-3 hundred thousand, they sell them for 2-5 million euros. If we get 30 to 50 per cent of those types of figures it finances the Mariners for a whole year

Personally think since he has an Italian passport he should be looking at Serie B. I feel like UK especially the lower league the big tall players may mean he doesn't get a fair shot at it. Yengi himself has said he has found a challenge playing against players bigger than him in League One. Swiss, Portugese leagues and French leagues would be good. I would avoid La Liga because unless you speak the language you are screwed.

Angel Torres was arrested when the Mariners returned to Sydney Airport and he was charged with ****, stalking & assault.

Huge blow for the Mariners in football terms, but obviously, there are far, far bigger concerns here. Sounds like really serious accusations.

Been stood down from the club as well:

Technically it wasn’t the club it was Football Australia, although I’m sure the club would have done it were it not for the overarching policy.

He is gone for the season, has had to hand in his passport, cannot leave NSW, and go anywhere near the person who made the complaint.

At times like this moral values must override Football wants... If guilty I hope he gets the max the courts can give.
