MathyouWSW Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I love how the last few weeks leading up to it's opening day to now that Sydney FC fans were saying they should play their final series at Parramatta Stadium due to the fact it's a larger seat capacity compared to Kogarah's Jubilee Stadium. Well, Hyundai A-League confirmed tonight that wasn't happening (which, I already knew it wasn't going to happen). So, I had to make a meme out of it. Prydzopolis, EmMac, Paul01 and 3 others 6

Early kickoffs is not the only, however definitely a reason for low crowds especially for teams like Mariners and Jets. The ideal kickoff time for a summer comp would be 6/6.30pm. No too late and more shade for the whole game. Unfortunately, this would mean games being played at the same time which doesn't suit TV demands. That was my point. The FFA and security clamp down on things that have caused hardly if any casualties yet are putting the spectators' comfort and health at risk for the tv coverage. sonar, bombagol and wendybr 3

Generator Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Bloody hell, I’m sick and tired of these pathetic pissing contests. The stadium wouldn’t have been rebuilt had it not been for all parties establishing the case, even if it may have been more the NRL rather than Parra themselves in the case of rugby league. Prydzopolis Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 ******* great! Can’t they put it on in the middle of the ******* thugby season? With all the games they are playing they’ll screw it up during the winter, why wait till the spring?
Sithslayer1991 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Can't they put it in Spotless, ANZ or Qudos bank arena arena? Prydzopolis 1
Carns Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Not with a shiny new stadium to use (and that needs paying for).

There was a bit of push back initially when Atlanta United first used the new stadium, but they adjusted quickly and I think the football is better off with a flat pitch than a grassy & bumpy one. The visa players always breakdown when they first come to Rooty hill describing the training pitches as concrete. Playing on a synthetic field is literally playing on concrete (it’s whats under the synthetic base).

They just need to replenish the rubber base more frequently, providing you can handle the smell.
Hughesy Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 They’re removing/reducing play on a lot of the synthetic pitches used in semi/elite football in the states because the research shows an increased incidence of soft tissue injuries (particularly ACL rupture) especially in female populations. mack Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Unless you're using the absolute top tier elite of the elite semi-synthetics hybrids (like Melbourne City have at their training academy), the only good uses for synthetics are in locations with awful growing weather (eg Scandinavia) and for high use pitches for junior leagues. Popular Post mack Posted May 3, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted May 3, 2019 I see they didn't go with the circular dressing room like Melbourne City did. ------- The devil, as always, is in the detail. Like the fact that the senior pitches at the Wanderers’ new training centre are the same size as Bankwest Stadium’s, to the centimetre. Like the fact that the floodlights on every one of the nine pitches will be, with 500lux LED power, so bright you could broadcast an FFA Cup game on TV. Like the orientation of the gym and its floor to ceiling windows that mean a player in rehab is just yards away from the training pitches and visually connected. And like the blinds on the windows in the media centre, ready to secure training sessions from prying eyes. It’s not just on game day that the new season promises so much for Western Sydney. After years of training in the midst of children’s athletics carnivals, with dressing rooms so far removed they were almost in a different suburb, the Wanderers players will return for pre-season at the $15m centre of excellence that has been years in the making. Off-field staff will be in much sooner - Monday in fact, and there was a noticeable spring in the step of staff moving their equipment across on Friday morning, even in pouring rain. As a way of drawing a line under the past two seasons it is hugely symbolic, but the facility is all about the future. Three pitches are ready now and the other six will be in use by January, housing the A-League and W-League teams right down to the youngest junior teams on one 11ha site. The complex was designed after chairman Paul Lederer and CEO John Tsatsimas toured elite clubs around the world and garnered ideas from all of them. The female teams have their own dedicated changing rooms. All of the academy coaches share an office with Markus Babbel. And at the centre of it all is the $1m gym which means for the first time the A-League players will scarcely have to leave the site during their working day. A coffee shop tender has just been awarded to provide a base for parents while their children train in the academy teams, and eventually a licensed club will follow to allow supporters to use the complex. Famously there are no registration fees charged to those players. “In this area, there are people who can afford it, but there are lots who can’t,” said Lederer. “It would be a travesty if young talented kids couldn’t play because they can’t afford to.” The whole site has been leased from Blacktown City Council, who will maintain the pitches. “Having the Wanderers based here gives hope and inspiration to local residents, there’s a pathway from local teams right up to the A-League,” said mayor Steve Bali. In every sense, the Wanderers are coming home. Now they just have to start winning again. Edinburgh, BBB, Nek and 15 others 18

pseudonym Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Dumb question: does a licensed club mean a RSL like Marconi, Parra, Wenty etc? Prydzopolis 1
marron Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 A licensed club is just one that's allowed to sell alcohol. A club usually has rules about membership and guests etc, as opposed to say a pub, which also has a license, but isn't a licensed club. A Leagues club is one that is attached to a rugby league club in some way, or at least was at the beginning. An RSL club is run by the Returned Services League (just to make things confusing). I don't know if they would see themselves as a "Leagues Club" if they were being finicky. Prydzopolis and pseudonym 2
