From real estate ... rents in Gosford... somewhat similar in price but seem a tad better than you describe.

If so many people are moving up the coast then why is the Gosford city centre surrounding the stadium so dead?

When the A-League began I was somewhat of a CCM follower due to free access to a box in the stadium. That city centre used to be full of life and every shop and restaurant packed. Since WSW came around I’ve been on close to every away trip up there and you’d be lucky to see half a dozen shops or restaurants open now. I remember a few years back when we played our first game of the season against the mariners and our train was early. We got there about 11:30 and saw about 3 people walking around... felt like an abandoned ghost town.

The New Manager Thread - brought to you by the Central Coast Development Corporation.

The centre of Gosford is grim, very grim an has lost its soul big time. It should be such a beautiful place with its natural setting and all, so making it in to such a shytehole is quite an achievement.

What I find even more sad is the centre of Newcastle, such beautiful old buildings as good as many in the centre of Sydney and yet nothing there...apart from awesome mushy peas and chips.

Absolute hole, Gosford. Sorry to say. One away trip I found a place called 'Pete's Pie Palace' or similar. Worst pie ever. The only meat pies suitable for vegetarians. It sighed when I bit into it...

I personally think that Prospect Reservoir is underrated.

But in all  seriousness if I was looking for a sea change, South Coast kicks Central Coast butt. Much more scenic coastline, Wollongong is a more vibrant city and the whole region is much more multicultural.

That’s why we need a Wollongong Wolves in the competition. What a trip that would be down to The Gong.

I prefer down south also, always brings a tear to my eye seeing the steel works with shyte belching out, makes me think back  to where I grew up, beautiful sight.

I've never bought anything from that pie place..but I think it does good business whenever WSW people are up there. There's usually a queue.

If Gombau happens to read any of this he will get really excited that him becoming the new WSW coach has triggered a Central Coast real estate debate.

Mariner

Are you trying to venture into mapman territory by singing the high praises of Gosford, the NSW jobless capital?

http://www.smh.com.au/business/gosfordwyong-has-highest-jobless-rate-20071102-17tk.html

Where the youth unemployment rate is at least 16%?

https://www.bsl.org.au/media/media-releases/youth-unemployment-hotspots-across-the-nation-mapped-rural-and-regional-areas-under-most-pressure/

Trying to polish the CC as a place of choice to live is a bit like saying that Moore Park is in the heart of Sydney, not in the East, based on post code system designed in the 19th century.

The best bit about Gosford is the stadium, on a rainy Friday evening, around the 80th minute.

Because everything else is usually closed. I recall the S2 season opener, when thousands of wanderers supporters were aimlessly roaming the streets of Gosford, trying to find something eatable. It was a scene like out of a "hunters and gatherers" documentation, with the pie man offering a solution.

Haha. ..yes...it's definitely a bit like that.

There's usually a little Indian restaurant open...on a corner.....where Wanderers outnumber Mariners patrons.

Not expensive...pretty good food from memory.

And there's  a more upmarket Lebanese  restaurant....near the deserted shopping Mall and a town square.

Usually Wanderers there too when I've been. Great food.

They're the only two places we've eaten. ..Although there are a few Chinese places open as well.

But yes...ghost town does describe the vibe there.

The club used to do a fair clubstyle meal, but all that changed and the whole selection became dogshyte. Always puzzled as to why.

The RSL does a fair meal though.
