sonar Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 When your internet browser decides that it won't connect to any web pages and you spend hours and hours rebooting, checking and resetting everything on your pc and router and it still won't work,so after 12 hours of trying you turn your pc off and when you turn it on in the afternoon the next day it effing works. wendybr, Prydzopolis, EmMac and 2 others 5
Gazmon Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 WGMG: Offices... and incompetence. Our staff in our Sydney office has gone from 4 staff down to 1 (myself) as of the end of this week. One was made redundant, one didn't have their contract renewed, one has resigned (no idea how long to have a replacement) and then there's me left. Our office is too big for us in Parramatta, but we lease 5 desks to another company (in a related industry, not a rival or anything silly like that). They're noisy and nice (except for their state manager...). Explained to our head office in Brisbane that we should move office at the end of our lease in October to somewhere like Norwest and downsize. They said that's a great idea and they'll sort it out... nothing has happened. I follow-up... "Oh no rush, it's not until February"... my reply: "Actually no. It's October and we need to give building management 3-months notice... so really it's July. I'm off on leave in October and there's a lot of stuff to sort out." "Oh we'll get back to you." ARGH! In all fairness for me it is just leftovers but can understand the ease & neatness by using Tupperware in the pantry. -------------------------- My gear grinder? Went through the squad development for the last month, FFS that makes for some pretty dire reading. Hard to think 5 spots are going to make a big big difference but the biggest dilemma I see how do we release 2 possibly 3 of our current visa signings to make way for better players? mack 1
hawks2767 Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Get absolutely ****ed. Dropped my car off to get a new ECU fitted and a tune to run E85. Then the alternator died in the shop. Then the fuel pump wasn't big enough and had to be replaced. Then the 700cc injectors were too small and needed to be replaced by 1200cc. Now the turbo just went bang on the dyno. What started out as a simple job costing about 2k has now blown out to over 6 and counting. Made 310kw at all 4 wheels but ****, should have just left the ******* car in the garage. Might eat Mi Goreng for the rest of the week in case I get another call starting with 'hey ummm guess what'. JackDoff, mack, Edinburgh and 4 others 7
Edinburgh Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Traffic "control" features. Who designs these things? Have they ever driven a car? Speed bumps in 40km zones that reduce your speed to 20 km. Make up your bloody mind is the desired speed limit 20km or 40km? Traffic islands that change an intersection from a simple t intersection to a dangerous twisting zig zag on the through road and creating a hazard on the other road where you can't see to your right without sticking the front of your car onto the through road. A new one of these has been installed near home in a "black spot". I've been living here for decades and use the intersection most days. There's been maybe 2 broken tail lights that I've noticed in all that time. Now buses struggle to navigate the intersection. The natural centre of the through road has been moved with double lines. Turning the corner without encroaching on the (fortunately partly painted) islands isn't straight forward. There are double lines on the other street as well. There is usually a car parked (legally) on each side of the street parallel with the lines. You need to cross the double lines to pass these parked cars even with a less than normal safety margin. Smoggy Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 WGMG... Listening to all of the political bullshit and squirming coming out of the UK about Grenfell tower. Seems to me the issue here is the increasingly wealthy areas and people encroaching around 1960's / 1970's council tower blocks annoyed about the visual blight such towers have and the suppression on surrounding house prices decided to clad these towers in cheap illegal **** as a way of making them look more modern at a budget level, especially so in London. Unnecessary corner cutting aesthetics implemented by greed, local government cost cutting and no respect for those people in such towers, social housing is a filthy dirty word these days in the UK and here in Australia and the outcome is perhaps predictable when we have such a housing wealth divide. Don't want to open a discussion really, just listening in to PMQ's from Westminster about this and some of the responses were making my blood boil! sonar, Prydzopolis, mack and 3 others 6
Wanderboy Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 (edited) I haven't been around much lately. Constantly reading, but haven't replied much. But something in the Off Topic Thread really grinded my gears. So many massively positive comments regrading nice deeds that some (most humans) would do. (Jess, ........just lovely, and I've done the same in those similar situations.). I reckon most of us would think like this. I know I always do. Well, I've got a WRGMG's. I've had several close mates who have disappointed me when it comes to travel Insurance claims. They have made theft claims just so they could get their money's worth of premiums back......plus some, even though nothing was ever stolen.. **** that pisses me off (GMG's)!! They are my mates, but geez!! Come on guy's. Stop being such dishonest dickhead's. It's no wonder my premiums are so high for insurance.
