SBW Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 The thing with Cahill is that he made the smart run through our defence unmarked and was in the right place to for it. I don't think it was offside but its basically Cahill doing what he does when he gets into attacking positions
Davo Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 DID ANYONE ELSE SEE BEATH GET COVERED IN TOMATO SAUCE AS HE WENT UP THE TUNNEL!?!?!?!?!?! Yep. Also saw the knuckledraggers barging innocent people out of the way so they could arrest the guy who did it. Fair enough, he deserved to be kicked out and probably get a ban but who did more harm? The guy who sprayed some sauce or the guy charging through the bay knocking people over? theguyyouwishyouwere and 102megan 2

Guest riva Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Cahill is a ****, but there's nothing in that incident. He doesn't strike him. It's not violent conduct. You could possibly book him for it, but there's no way that's a red card. Doesn't change the fact that he is a ****. Onto the game..... Wanderers Tyson - He was fair. He wasn't great. He wasn't bad. Our back four had their best game of the season which results in the keeper looking half decent. Who would have thought it? I had to laugh at the crowd jizzing over Tyson just kicking a backpass up to half way like he had made an Ante Covic like save. His communication was better and he seemed to talk to his back four, so that's a positive sign. And I will say that the change may have been needed to just get the crowd onside. It has got to the stage where it feels like our own supporters are hoping Redmayne f*cks up so they can boo him or whinge on social media. I call it the "Riva-effect" Neville - Rock solid as always. We really miss him when he isn't there. Although I wish he just whipped that ball across the face of the goal in the 93rd minute. Aspro - Best performance by any of our CB's this season. Borda - Second best performance by any of our CB's this season. And EASILY his best performance. Cornflakes might be on the outer for a while. Clisby - I love this guy. Runs all day. Tackles hard. And his crosses are always into dangerous positions. He's been our best player this season. Dimas - Just does his job every week. He isn't Andreu though, and whoever thought they could turn him into Andreu got that horribly wrong. Pinatares - Getting better and better every week. The first time a player has responded to "The Treatment" and bounced back. Whether or not he keeps improving the the point of him being worth of a visa position in the squad I'm not sure, but I'm a lot more confident now then I was 3 weeks ago. Nico - One of the best players in the League. Simple as that. Nichols - I'm going out on a limb here and saying he has been the most disappointing player for us this season. He was one of the best players in the league last year, close to National Team selection, and this year he hasn't been anywhere near that standard. A lot of people are frustrated at our lack of direction and creativity in the final third, and I'm putting all that blame on Nichols. He is the only one in that final third who was here last year. We need him to lead from the front and show the others our system, how we play. And he just isn't doing it for me. If Nichols was playing like we all know he can, I think there'd be a lot less questions on Jumpei / Bulut and how they're performing etc etc. Jumpei - I think there's a really good player in there somewhere. It's just slightly off the mark right now but I still think he'll come good. Bulut - He's not A League quality. Yes he loves the club, he loves the fans, and he plays with so much passion and tries really hard. But at the end of the day his positioning on the field is terrible, his first touch horrible, and his ability to hold the ball up and bring team mates into the game is atrocious. He reminds me of Roberto Soldado at Spurs. Loved by the fans and loved the club, but just not good enough. The biggest problem with where the team is at right now though is the lack of depth in the squad. We almost need to start one of Mitch / Jumpei / Nico on the bench because if things aren't going to plan, there is no one there to change it up. Sotirio, Baccus, Melling etc are really important squaddies this year and around ACL time will be invaluable. They can do a very important job for the team and in a salary capped league, you NEED players like this in the squad. But because we couldn't get rid of NTS soon enough to be able to replace him with a 4th attacking midfielder (cough Nathan Burns) to complement Nico / Nichols / Jumpei, we are being really really really found out in matches. Melbourne City Don't impress me one bit. They're all brilliant individually and have 5-6 players that are probably worthy of being a marquee. In all honesty, they probably do have 5-6 players on marquee wages with the help of the FFA, but I would love to play them in a big game at the end of the season because I am confident once we've clicked and added 1-2 players in January, we'll beat them. The Referee I'm a referee myself so I generally stick up for them, but Chris Beath, you are a f*cking cheat. - I can understand a linesman getting a tight offside call wrong. Yes Bulut was onside, but those tight offside calls happen all the time and it is much harder being a linesman than it is a referee. I'd love for anyone who wants to have a go at the linesman for getting a call wrong to try and run a line on a Saturday morning with the Under 10's. I bet that you can't keep up at that level. It's an incredibly tough job...... - I can understand a referee giving a yellow card 5 mins into the match for what was a 50/50 red card. Jumpei was brought down on the edge of the box, and if he isn't fouled has a shot from inside the box one on one with the keeper. Is that foul Denying an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity? Yeah, with the benfit of the replay it probably is. But with a defender in the vicinity, and only 5 mins into the game, I can understand a yellow card coming out instead of a red. - BUT WHAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IS HOW THE F*CK THE REFEREE COULD ONLY ADD ON 3 MINUTES OF INJURY TIME IN THAT SECOND HALF. THE WANDERERS WERE BASHING DOWN THE DOOR SEARCHING FOR AN EQUALISER AND THE REF ONLY ADDS ON 3 MINS? F*CK OFF CHRIS. YOU'RE A CHEATING ****. There were 5 subs in that second half, each sub made at a different time, and using the universal rule of 30 seconds per sub, there's 2 mins 30 seconds. Kerem Bulut scores and celebrates with the crowd. Referee calls it offside, but Bulut spends a minute in the crowd celebrating. That goes into injury time. Brandan went to ground 2-3 times in the second half and spent 30 seconds rolling around on the ground each time. Osama Malik went down injured twice, and had treatment on the pitch twice, before being subbed. Manny Muscat gets injured and has treatment on the pitch. This is all added into injury / additional time Chris. I was hoping for 6 mins, but expecting 5. The fact it was 3 proves that Beath was a f*cking cheat. I, like many, had felt we had the rough end of the stick with the refereeing in that game. Many of the calls that I think he got wrong are probably being looked at through red and black glasses. But only adding 3 minutes of injury time, with the Wanderers searching for an equaliser and by this stage City just hanging on is PROOF that Beath was f*cking cheating, and doing all he could to give City the win. What a confused rambling post. Accusing a referee multiple times of deliberate cheating is over the top IMO. Making mistakes sure but deliberate cheating ? What would you be saying if he had added those additional minutes and City had scored ?. We were lucky to jag a point in this game , we didn't even score it was an own goal , how many shots did their keepers have to make. Our reaction after Cahill scored was pathetic and embarrassing. The " riva effect" ? If we had abandoned the tightarse recruitment and got a decent striker and defenders who could beat a turtle over 15 metres we wouldn't have to worry about the referee so much. I've never heard people cheer an incomplete pass as enthusiastically as on Friday night. Sure he pumped it long and out of the danger zone but it just meant the ball was coming straight back. Tyson completed 27% of his passes and sent 74% of his passes long, with none finding one of our players. Against Victory Redmayne completed 55% of his passes, sending 64% long with 3 finding a Wanderer. I think it was time for Redmayne to have a break and Tyson has done enough to keep his spot for another week but I wasn't a fan of the way the crowd was reacting. There was one thing I was impressed that he does have over Redmayne and thats the chatter he had with the defence he was always talking to them. Apart from that its like everyone says he wasn't really tested and that is credit to our defence. Edinburgh Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Concerning the Tyson assessments - I'm inclined to think that him talking to the defence all match contributed to them playing a better game. So diminishing the assessment of Tyson because he wasn't tested because of the better defending needs to be tempered by that consideration. Erdz, matty, jdrudd91 and 6 others 9
Zelinsky Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 The good: Neville has developed into a class RB. If I never see Hamill play RB again it will still be too soon. Six weeks ago I thought we'd have a big problem with Jamo being gone but LB is the least of our worries. Clisby has been excellent, all things considered. The bad: Our midfield work looks great as long as it lasts. Popa demands from mediocre footballers to train harder, run more, be more clinical in front of goal etc etc - effectively trying to get more out of them than they've got. They are required to play at the limit all the time, eventually run out of steam, and have nothing left to give when required. Plus: nothing on the bench to add something extra. The ugly: Having to rebuild the back four is not ideal. That we are relying on young Jonathan as much as we do says a lot about the "quality" of the other three CBs. A competent striker scoring goals would have been able to cover up the areas were we suck, but we ended up with the boy from Auburn who is yet to arrive back in the HAL - if he ever makes it. The lowdown: If Nix and Reds get into gear we'll have serious issues making the finals with this squad. Here's the higher quality version: https://streamable.com/3r88 I uploaded the shorter version to twitter, not sure how much attention we can encourage. GunnerWanderer Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 FCB you were not confident in our squad before a ball was kicked, iirc you wisely didn't think having the zlatan Messiah Donald Bradman of football would solve everything. So far your comments all pre season seem to be spot on - that's good forecasting let me know if you have any stock tips! Let us both hope longer term you are wrong and we come good and make another grand final to lose in haha @davo Given all the goals I've seen this season from here and abroad conceding by playing out from the back when it's not on I am 100% behind Tyson booting it long with his 10% ball retention rate still better than leaking **** l goals l! wswtragic 1

The one key factor that is not analysed is the coach and his staff - where are they at - on the right path or nowheresville. Maybe they can turn it around with the players we have , maybe not. The other unanalysed factor are the owners - will they provide the funds to strengthen the team. If we are near the bottom come January they might decide to write this year off and try for better next season. Guess time will answer all. spectacular291 1

Zelinsky Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 The opponents kept Nichols largely quiet after the 4:3 against City last season. That "tradition" continues. In the absence of a No 9 in front of him and Andreu's passing he is on his own too much. StringerBellend 1
Popular Post matty Posted November 21, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 21, 2016 Just a couple of thoughts. Tyson, lighten up people. So we cheered his every touch, big deal, it's fun, even if it's a Dino-esque kind of way. Bulut is improving every week, he's far from perfect but watch him closely, he does some good stuff. StringerBellend Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Castelan was frustrating most weeks but when he was on he would win a game Victory @ home last year he was unplayable and also the roar semi. LoganCircle Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Jumpei's been a little unlucky not to have scored yet. If I remember right he also played some really neat passes that could have been put to better use by the receiver. I accept that he needs to improve but I think we're being a bit harsh on him. He's done about as much as Cas had at this stage in his career, and really about as much as Hersi had as well. He's 7 games in, he's been much better than some of our other foreign signings this season, give it a bit longer, I think he'll come good. Paul01, BrightSpark and Wanderboy 3
