mack Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 A late own goal saw the Western Sydney Wanderers steal a late draw in a controversial match at the Olympic Park Showground tonight. The game really came to life in the second half, with the ongoing saga of the awful A-League officials continuing for a second week. The first half was arguably the best effort defensively for the Wanderers this season, helped in no small part by goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson finally being given a chance in the starting lineup. Five minutes after the resumption of play Western Sydney had the ball in the back of the net only to be denied by a blatantly incorrect offside call. Nico Martinez weaved his way through the City defence to release Kerem Bulut. The striker was clear on goal and after a great first touch he put his second below Thomas Sorensen and into the City goal. As he ran off to celebrate extensively in front of the RBB, the offside flag came down, with replays showing it was a shockingly poor decision. Of course as luck would have it, City took the lead minutes later. Fernando Brandan crossed in from the left wing. The right foot cross looped in the air, evading the Wanderers defence. It fell luckily into the path of the Melbourne City striker, and he managed to stick out a toe, the bounce dropping perfectly to give him a tap-in. The Wanderers came again and again, and despite a long stretch of City dominating possession, the home side stuck to their task and held the match at 0-1 until injury time. Finally, dramatically, the Red & Black onslaught paid dividends. Jack Clisby was free as a bird on the left wing, the fullbacks cross was inch perfect. Mitch Nichols & Lachlan Scott flung themselves at the ball, their movement dragging Neil Kilkenny deep into the 6 yard box. Kilkenny tried desperately to contort his body to avoid the ball but he failed, diverting the cross beyond Sorensen. A last gasp winner just eluded the Wanderers, their final chance was wasted as Scott Neville failed to find anyone with his pass inside the City penalty area. With overall feeling of being robbed of three points, the late draw was the least the home side deserved. The Wanderers play Brisbane Roar next Friday, the 25th of November at 7:50PM again at Sydney Showground Homebush. Click here to view the article 102megan 1

StringerBellend Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Positives Happy with the result, defence was better. Nico is ace. Bulut goal should have stood and changed game, was beautiful for a brief minute there to see him score, I really hope it works out. Negatives for about 20mins in the second half we were absolutely terrible, couldn't keep the ball and how no clue. Sotirio couldn't seem to control a football. Back to positives it was Pleasing we finished strongly on the last 10, we got a the goal. There is hope for spotless yet, once that goal went in place came alive. beer and pizza in Lidcombe pregame is definitely the go Prydzopolis, Burztur, MartinTyler and 1 other 4

Guest riva Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) Is Popa off to China ? In China if you had a record of one win in your opening 7 games , with 8 goals and 14 against , in addition to losing a derby 4 -0 I reckon you would be looking for a new job already. Edited November 18, 2016 by riva
Carns Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 As already mentioned, defence was much improved. Thought Borda has a decent game besides one or two misplaced passes. Pinatares I thought was good too. Disappointing for Bulut to be disallowed the goal, but he was constantly offside besides that. We're still pretty toothless in attack. Many times we're just passing it around hoping for something to eventuate that rarely comes. Shows how much we're missing a player like Bridge, who seemed to have the attacking mindset and worked off the striker. Stokz, Prydzopolis, JackDoff and 2 others 5

Ine poor punch but a much safer pair of hands. Other I though my faith in refereeing would restored. I was wrong. Someone needs to go round and burn Beath's house down. With him inside please. Cahill. Utter ****. Went from not bothered to utter twat in the blink of an eye at half time. Was hoping someone would put a career ending tackle on him most of the second half. Sotirio. Mmmmpff. Jeez. Can we just have him as a mascot doing half time oranges or something. Fraud of a football player. Ditto Bacchus. ptwsw, HillsWanderer, mack and 1 other 4

eggs Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 We was robbed! I was gutted Bulut got his goal wiped out. Refs were awful. Also annoying my white and black membership state bays 206-211. Sat in bay 206, only for someone to come along with a reserved seat in 206 that I was sat in. So white and black is not really 206-211 is it? Not the end of the world but annoying he turned up at kick off and now I have to find 4 new seats. Prydzopolis and Neverbloom 2
