GunnerWanderer
If we had any common sense and we really wanted to win **** popa woulda been turfed out ages ago I don't think you're an outcast I just think that you don't respect the most successful coach over the last 5 years of the A-league. Sure we fell short in 3 grand finals due to a range or reasons. But would you rather be ESFC who despite some super signings have done nothing in that time except one GF appearance and making it no further than bombing out first knockout stage in Asia. I ask you is Popa really that bad? I will give it you that he is somewhat tactical inflexible no stubborn in that it always has to be 4-2-3-1 despite who the opposition is. I can't ever remember 2 strikers unless we were chasing a game. I've been following the A-league since inception and apart from Ange no man can't claim to be a better overall coach. It's always easy to call for the head of a coach but he's built this club and could have farked off many a time, but to his credit he wants to win the A-league. It may be doubtful it happens this season given the talent out there but I don't see greener grass unless you care to elaborate who you think should bring him in. Happy to debate with you, but offer an alternative and reasons why. Popa out means **** all otherwise. Edit - just saw you call for Ange, at least we agree on his quality. But why would he leave the NT for club side? It's not gunna happen. Lederer will not be able to pay him enough Link to comment
JayZko
If lederer is the problem with our signings and so fourth why don't the rbb give him a wake up call because were sick of these budget direct looking squads who get to the final but can't finish it The a league owners have forked out 220 million dollars lederer automatic.. gets the best supporters in the league then nothing Link to comment
GunnerWanderer
I doubt Lederer calls the signings, he would decide the budget for Marquee and that is it. He tried Pio last season and it didn't work, who knows who didn't want to invest heavily again him or Popa. It's like with Arsenal no-one knows if it's Wenger or Kroneke? But lets be clear are you saying the signings aren't good enough or Popa? If you're saying the players come back after 6-8 to games and I'm happy to listen to you, if you're saying it's Popa present your case. Bear in mind about 30 to 40 odd coaches have been around since he started, he left them all for dust.... Smoggy 1 Link to comment
JayZko
You make valid points but the simple fact you can't argue with is what kind of coach gets 60k in a game sends us all home miserable time and time again derbys grandfinals so on he's reasoning every season new squad time to click Our new signings are a laughing stock, we need a league proven talent for an a league team simple fact is it's a fast paced hard tackling league that's why Pio didn't do well We haven't won a big occasion since the ACL wait we beat victory at home once.... And roar Link to comment
GunnerWanderer
Fair point in the big matches since ACL we've been 2nd best that's a fair point, I guess making a GF last season made up for it. If he losses the big game again this season and doesn't make finals impact or ACL then yes serious questions should be posed. For now I think he has earned the benefit of time. In other matters Muscat it hoping for MCG derby guess they should try it sooner or later. test the waters http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2016/10/11/victory-dreaming-melbourne-derby-duel-mcg Link to comment

Oh absolutely, the Mariners are aggressively pursuing their interests, and good on them! They already own their training ground. Admittedly, I wonder if land values play a part, not forgetting their income is probably proportionally less than clubs in big cities Edited October 13, 2016 by braad Prydzopolis and wendybr 2 Link to comment
