Come on Riva. We all know that no matter what happens tomorrow you'll be disappointed.

Nah , you guys have converted and convinced me - results just don't matter. Just the POX. Anyone know the projected POX for the next game after the derby ? .......rest of the season ?

Our membership total - yourself + average away support = POX (assuming you'll not go to games because we lost the derby)

Come on , numbers man , numbers not formulas. And your tipping a loss in the derby , terribly disappointing.

No buts, don't lower yourself to RW's level by having a crack after she's gone.

I would be disappointed if any mention or display was made at the game about this , what will that achieve. She's not going to write anything any more and she was after all  a mother and the only ones that would suffer is her family who wrote nothing.

Sure some people were hurt but we should be bigger than that and forget it , anything else would just be reported and portrayed as confirmation of her opinions.

I totally agree! Let it go.

This guy ( in the link below) is an idiot, and has rightly been condemned for his insensitivity.

Poor timing (could've waited a few days) but good on him. Already the buzz words are being trotted out for Bec - 'award winning', 'legendary', 'decorated', 'journalist'.

There wasn't much wrong with what he said.

I agree - I am happy to say nothing about her in the circumstances but to see her lauded like she was some trail blazing hero is tough to take.

It's a bizarre thing that our society does - so vitriolic and judgemental to the living but so forgiving and cloying to the deceased.

St Bec? I don't think so. Burn the witch? I don't think so either.

A woman passed away who happened to be a controversial journo with a track record of ruffling feathers.

Those who knew her will be deeply affected. Everyone else might want to keep a respectful distance.

There's no need for her friends and family to be confronted with farewell messages straight from the gutter.

Expect dog tracks and **** end of season scheduling for Victory for the next ten years then. The FFA should be smart about it, and make sure all Etihad games are scheduled before the start of the AFL season given these developments, because make no mistake, the AFL will ensure the Victory gets a dud experience if there is anything resembling a clash.

Quite extraordinary scenes just noted.

I just watched Sportsnight on the Sky News Channel, sort of expecting some massive RBT tribute.

Nope.

The first half an hour was dedicated to football.

Firstly, a massive wrap up on tonight's season opener in Brisbane.

Then, a huge discussion on the derby.

Thirdly, a decent wrap up on the Socceroos vs KSA.

I was certainly surprised by the discussion on the derby. John Gibbs and some South Aussie made up the panel. Not experts by any means, but not a bad word said. They were certainly impressed by the intended crowd figures, and even mentioned the threat football poses.

Small steps.

Very surprising this program is usually rubbish especially when RBT was on . Her bias was appalling and she was no journalist just a dimwitted shock jock commentator pedalling gossip and scaremongering . The host Bracey would let get away with completely unsubstantiated bile looked like he was scared of her . RIP but good riddance

A shining example of why it was always unfortunate and unhelpful that he was the driving force behind those Senate hearings into police behaviour.

No one in the mainstream has any time for the views of a libertarian wing nut, and every cause whose post he hitches himself to is tainted by his association.

I probably wouldn't do it but I have absolutely no problem with his tweet. The only problem for me is that it drags us into it, and that's not really his right. He has a right to speak his mind, but he should say it on his behalf, not others.

Look, I feel sorry for her family, but you reap what you sow. People don't deserve to be treated like saints in death if they were arseholes in life. It says something about that woman that no-one except her closest friends and family are sorry to see her go. If she truly was a journalist who broke down barriers, then people would at least respect her for that, regardless of any articles that dumped on people. But she was a complete muckraking hypocrite who had no problem dragging people's lives through the mud whether they deserved it or not.

Leyonhjelm is right - no one is shedding a tear. If her family fail to see the problem with what she did, that is an issue. We don't need more people thinking her way of behaving is the right way.

anyone watch offsiders? i tuned in to see what they said and Tracey Holmes is a negative bitch i dont know her story but apparently the A-league is dead

**** off you one eyed cow

Yeah I watched it. Predictable on her part.

Amazing, they decided to actually spend the first half of the program ralkimg about football for once, and prepared for it by putting exactly zero football people on the panel.

It wasn't too bad but they were all coming from the perspective of being clear outsiders (which is interesting to some extent). A proper football journalist could have given a much better insight into the trajectory of the game. Oh well, at least they were talking about it, with not a flare discussion in sight.

I think Tracy Holmes is a fan of other sports such as basketball, tennis and cricket (particularly women's versions) which are in direct competition with football in summer. So she might be playing it down for that reason. I think also she doesn't understand the game very well, might even be a little from the old school journalists that doesn't think sokkah is that relevant in the Australian sporting landscape.

Yep, I think it is this. It isn't an in-built hatred like with RBT, but more a default position that 'sokkah' isn't mainstream.

I think it's a tempered hatred, but she's good at disguising it. She won't sling like arrows like RBT, but more dismiss it in a condescending way.
