Guest riva
Come on Riva. We all know that no matter what happens tomorrow you'll be disappointed. Nah , you guys have converted and convinced me - results just don't matter. Just the POX. Anyone know the projected POX for the next game after the derby ? .......rest of the season ? btron3000, DinoPresinger, thefairy and 2 others 5 Link to comment

wendybr
No buts, don't lower yourself to RW's level by having a crack after she's gone. I would be disappointed if any mention or display was made at the game about this , what will that achieve. She's not going to write anything any more and she was after all a mother and the only ones that would suffer is her family who wrote nothing. Sure some people were hurt but we should be bigger than that and forget it , anything else would just be reported and portrayed as confirmation of her opinions. I totally agree! Let it go. This guy ( in the link below) is an idiot, and has rightly been condemned for his insensitivity. https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/32826638/senator-slammed-over-insensitive-tweet-just-hours-after-rebecca-wilsons-death/#page1 Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

I agree - I am happy to say nothing about her in the circumstances but to see her lauded like she was some trail blazing hero is tough to take. It's a bizarre thing that our society does - so vitriolic and judgemental to the living but so forgiving and cloying to the deceased. Zelinsky
St Bec? I don't think so. Burn the witch? I don't think so either. A woman passed away who happened to be a controversial journo with a track record of ruffling feathers. Those who knew her will be deeply affected. Everyone else might want to keep a respectful distance. There's no need for her friends and family to be confronted with farewell messages straight from the gutter. The FFA should be smart about it, and make sure all Etihad games are scheduled before the start of the AFL season given these developments, because make no mistake, the AFL will ensure the Victory gets a dud experience if there is anything resembling a clash. Wanderboy
Quite extraordinary scenes just noted. I just watched Sportsnight on the Sky News Channel, sort of expecting some massive RBT tribute. Nope. The first half an hour was dedicated to football. Firstly, a massive wrap up on tonight's season opener in Brisbane. Then, a huge discussion on the derby. Thirdly, a decent wrap up on the Socceroos vs KSA. I was certainly surprised by the discussion on the derby. John Gibbs and some South Aussie made up the panel. Not experts by any means, but not a bad word said. They were certainly impressed by the intended crowd figures, and even mentioned the threat football poses. Small steps. Very surprising this program is usually rubbish especially when RBT was on . Her bias was appalling and she was no journalist just a dimwitted shock jock commentator pedalling gossip and scaremongering . The host Bracey would let get away with completely unsubstantiated bile looked like he was scared of her . RIP but good riddance Prydzopolis, Neverbloom, Wanderboy and 2 others 5 Link to comment

btron3000
I probably wouldn't do it but I have absolutely no problem with his tweet. The only problem for me is that it drags us into it, and that's not really his right. He has a right to speak his mind, but he should say it on his behalf, not others. Look, I feel sorry for her family, but you reap what you sow. People don't deserve to be treated like saints in death if they were arseholes in life. It says something about that woman that no-one except her closest friends and family are sorry to see her go. If she truly was a journalist who broke down barriers, then people would at least respect her for that, regardless of any articles that dumped on people. But she was a complete muckraking hypocrite who had no problem dragging people's lives through the mud whether they deserved it or not. Leyonhjelm is right - no one is shedding a tear. If her family fail to see the problem with what she did, that is an issue. We don't need more people thinking her way of behaving is the right way. Popular Post stavup
Its not brave journalism to make false accusations and slanderous comments about anything. RW was no saint herself in life, however the reality is she has died an agonising death and we must focus on the fact that she was first and foremost a mother, wife, daughter, sister and family member to others who loved her in another context. Her journalistic filth mongering has died with her and we need to give that no more oxygen. People should not be making comments on behalf of anybody on social media except themselves IMO. I hope we can move on with a level f dignity and integrity that was sorely lacking in her work. A proper football journalist could have given a much better insight into the trajectory of the game. Oh well, at least they were talking about it, with not a flare discussion in sight. wendybr and Neverbloom 2 Link to comment

WestSyd
I think Tracy Holmes is a fan of other sports such as basketball, tennis and cricket (particularly women's versions) which are in direct competition with football in summer. So she might be playing it down for that reason. I think also she doesn't understand the game very well, might even be a little from the old school journalists that doesn't think sokkah is that relevant in the Australian sporting landscape.
