Alexander Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Sorry, but whilst I understand why folk want to prioritise certain youth players ahead of K-Man, look at someone like Lo. Been AWOL for almost the entire time he's been with us (only time I've seen him get any serious game time in the seniors was the friendly against Adelaide at Penrith before 2013/14) and whilst he may have had some other non-A-League games he has been the sight unseen 'hero' for far too many. Alessi has gone backwards, and Perkatis struggles for game time. Youlley has had one (admittedly very good) senior game. Aspro, Sotirio and Fofanah have demonstrated to varying degrees they can step it up. And folk rank K-Man as expendable after all this? FFS he's only 18 & has the build of a tissue paper, but give him a proper pre-season with the older guys and some time in the gym and he could be something special. I recall vividly watching him with Tranquillo and WDSWF in that first pre-season against Macarthur Rams when he was trialing, and he tore it up. And when Pryd and I watched him the last NYL game at Poppandetta Park he again looked far better than several of those same youngsters various folk have been cracking a fat for. If he's gone and City have offered him something far more worthwhile for him so be it...but this bullshit of folk saying 'ah doesn't matter' after the fact is mealy-mouthed crap. My issue isn't so much with losing the player (despite me being disappointed) but the fact that we got nothing for him. I understand that kids want to go if they get a FT contract, but why can't we have any protection from losing players for nothing year after year. In the cap we are forced to prioritise 3 youth players over the rest & then have to be in a position where other teams take the others for nothing. Youth academies should be seen as a project whereby the whole competition gets stronger through the development of home grown players. If you can only give a good contract & thus have a strong hold on only 3 of them, what incentive is there for clubs to set up academies if you can just scout other NYL teams & grab players in a zero fee transfer? So like the foreign player limit, if you get it wrong with your youth contracts, you lose a better non youth contracted player as punishment? Young players games at that level to get better. At the same time though, you can't blame a coach for not filling up his squad with 18-20 year olds when his job is pending on the first team results. As a coach you'd much rather loan a kid out to give him games & then bring him back when he is playing at a level where he will slot right in to your squad with little hassle. Or if he doesn't make the grade but could go to another team, receive a fee for him/her that can be reinvested into the club. For owners, that's what it comes down to, dollar bills y'all t. Why would you invest huge sums of money into an academy when you will see player after player leave for nothing when you've had some financial investment in their development Edited May 10, 2015 by Alexander Prydzopolis 1
Unlimited Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Has there been any official news of him leaving or is it just rumour? Prydzopolis 1
Zelinsky Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 but this bullshit of folk saying 'ah doesn't matter' after the fact is mealy-mouthed crap. It doesn't matter because he wouldn't get any game time next season. The task/goal for Popovic and team is to win the title. For that to happen Popa will, more often than not, put his best eleven on the pitch week in, week out. In S1 we had a squad of 23, and 14 played the bulk of the games. The others did bugger all, including vice captain Elrich. Had it not been for injuries at the end of the season, and a few red cards, that group of nine players would have played even less. If we have a squad of 26 in S4, then app. 10 players won't see much game time at all. K. would have been in that group - if he had made it into the senior squad in he first place. We don't know if K. is going to be any get better. I thought that Alessi, after his strong games against ADP and Guangzhou's Elkeson, would be the man to watch. I was stunned to see how much he was struggling a few weeks ago against Newcastle. At the end of the day players come and go, and there is nothing we can do about it. If he thinks he found a way to better himself: good luck to him. I will be much more carefully watching what is going to happen with the likes of Spira, Ruka, Tanaka, Takahagi, Sotirio, or Covic. DCWSW Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 IMHO, not a big loss, but a loss... Sotirio, Aspro, Youlley, from what I've seen why my own eyes, look like the ones with more potential. Sotirio looks like a slick dribbler who likes to take on the opposition and just looks more assured on the ball than Kuzi. Aspro, well we all know, he's a beast For the single game Youlley played, he looked comfortable on the ball and when passing. Kuzi has good skills, but thats it for me.... didn't offer that much compared to the three I've mentioned. Good luck to him. I'll be sad that we lose someone from our Macedonian contingent
Davo Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I'd rather we keep him but it's going to become a reality with WSW on the future. Look how many Socceroos, Aussies playing overseas and A-League players come from western Sydney. There's no way we're going to be able to funnel all that talent into one squad. We're inevitably going to lose a lot and occasionally we'll lose one that we really regret. The best we can hope for is to have a good enough academy and youth system to identify the talent young and get first choice on the pick of the crop. theguyyouwishyouwere 1

Taurus Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 FFA have still been doing Mothers Day tweets & the 5 things we learnt about ESFC's victory last night stories. One of my NZ twitter followers, RT'd a few updates from a NZ correspondent, so that's how I followed the game earlier today Prydzopolis 1

I know this belongs in the Socceroos thread but if we can't get results against Panama then it sounds like same old shite, different locale. Very happy for Kuzi but what the fook is happening where we lose to a Central American team to that extent. Prydzopolis 1
hawks2767 Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Doesn't make sense that the club is congratulating him like he is still part of WSW & he has put pen to paper for City ?? Prydzopolis 1

West13 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 According to 442 transfer speculation - Popa is seething that we lost Kuzi to City That 442 guy is east Sydney love child. Everything with a grain of salt. DinoPresinger and Alexander 2
NickosCPC Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Honestly though Kuzi was in for a great future at WSW. Who's releasing these players? How can Popa be seething if he's the one who let him go?? Prydzopolis 1
Nnnnnathan12 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Maybe Popa is annoyed that Kuzi's agent and Melb City have sold him the Manchester City connection... The belief that Man City scouts are at every training session and games watching everything that they do Prydzopolis and Alexander 2
Lookers Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Honestly though Kuzi was in for a great future at WSW. Who's releasing these players? How can Popa be seething if he's the one who let him go?? I'm pretty sure he was only in the youth system - in other words not tied down to our club. Hence why he wasn't on the list of "released" players. Also need to consider the players who stayed ahead of him: Sotirio, Youlley, D'Cunha, Aspro, Fofanah & Alessi Alexander, DinoPresinger and Prydzopolis 3
Alexander Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 So did City sign him on an U21 contract or a senior contract? Prydzopolis 1

Taurus Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 So did City sign him on an U21 contract or a senior contract? Would be a senior U21 contract, worth 41k per season Prydzopolis and Alexander 2

Prydzopolis Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I'm still struggling to understand the mass disappointment over his departure.I think it was the fact that he was a young promising Western Sydney boy that we couldn't keep & one that has a bright future ahead of himself if he keeps on developing like he did in the last 6 months he spent with us. I know we can't keep them all but it still hurts when we let the promising ones go. 102megan 1
