Wanderers Call Member Vote On ACL Venue

The Western Sydney Wanderers have called on their members to vote on the venue for their Asian Champions League Final home leg.

Members have been contacted by email and asked to log in to the membership site to vote by 12pm tomorrow.

The unusual step could be part of an appeal by the club to convince the AFC the match should be played at Parramatta Stadium rather than alternative venues such as the Sydney Football Stadium or ANZ.

Great form by the club.

While the Wanderers are pressuring Asian football's governing body to keep the game in Parramatta, the larger venues of Sydney FC's home ground, Allianz Stadium in Moore Park as well as ANZ Stadium in Olympic Park are being considered as alternatives. It's understood the Wanderers are working to meet the AFC's regulations for a larger media and VIP tribune at Parramatta Stadium as well as accommodating what could be an unprecedented number of corporate guests.

Should the match be played away from Parramatta, it's understood their preference will be the 83,000 seater ANZ Stadium due to its closer proximity with the western suburbs of Sydney.  But Wanderers chief executive, John Tsatsimas, reiterated his commitment to playing the match at their regular home ground as per the wishes of most supporters.

Our club prefers ANZ over Allianz?

This is what Mark Bosnich said on Fox Sports last night - let the fans decide.

From a purely selfish point of view I am voting for Allianz as my wife's sister has a 40th birthday party on that evening in Bondi which the wife expects me to go to. If the game is at Allianz then I can go to both.

If it is at Parra I will still be going but may have to get divorced first

Why not set up this thread as a poll to get some discussion and views?

They've only given until 12 tomorrow in order to vote, but I'm surprised they're looking for member input in any case. I'd say the majority of members would be interested in staying in Parramatta, but non-members would likely prefer a larger stadium in order to get a ticket. The "Parra or no" works in the advantage of Parramatta since the "stadium larger than Parramatta" vote will be split between the other 2 venues.

I voted Allianz this game should be a showcase of how far football and the wanderers have come in Australia 18k at pirtek just doesn't do it justice ..and you have to think that if parra doesn't get the ok then it's going to be either Allianz or Anz anyway
