Nnnnnathan12 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) My group stage qualifiers predictions A - Brazil, Croatia ( Mexico and Croatia could be a very good game that defines the second spot) B - Spain, Netherlands (Chile could upset the two big guns) C - Japan, Colombia (the weakest group IMO, it could be a lottery who gets through) D - Uruguay, Italy (England have the players but I think that Roy Hodgson is a rubbish manager) E - France, Ecuador ( France have some quality players, and Ecuador have the home fans to support them too) F - Argentina , Nigeria (usually because an African team makes the round of 16 somewhere) G - Germany, Portugal (no arguments here) H - Belgium, South Korea (don't really know any players from Algeria or Russia, so I decided to go for our own backyard, even if that backyard is a 9 hour flight away) Spain, Germany, Brazil and Argentina are the top 4 teams, Portugal could upset a few if Ronaldo is in top form like the in the playoff qualifier against Sweeden that basically won him the Ballon D'or, Belgium have a lot of top players but whether they can put it together remains to be unseen, If the Netherlands find good form, the likes of Van Persie, Snjeider, robben, van der vaart get it right then they could do some damage with a a favourable draw England are a funny one, they have the talent to do some damage but only if there all on fire and clicking together at the right time, Rooney is a big factor, along with Gerrard and Lampard in the middle. If John Terry was in the team then they're through, he's already dealt with Suarez once this season he can do it again. Edited May 8, 2014 by Nnnnnathan12 Prydzopolis 1

marron Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Think Phil said quite some time ago rain hail or shine that Paulinho would be in the squad.

Prydzopolis Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I would have Lucas Leiva from Liverpool instead of Paulinho, Not sure of Leiva's form this season but Paulinho has been garbage this season For me, Levia has had an injury hit season, never getting a string of games together because he would be reinjured. It would never be a niggle but one that lasts a couple of months. In the last couple of games when Henderson got his three match ban, he hasn't stepped up to an appropriate level and Liverpool has suffered!
marron Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 German squad is out today but cbf finding it again. Only 2 strikers.

I think coutinho deserves to be there, a very handy player to have, can be a game changer if they need some spark Prydzopolis 1
Nnnnnathan12 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Either way, Paulinho has been awful for Tottenham this year. Although a lot of the players have been very average, but he hasn't shown any desire to play to play for spurs and I'm sure that he will step up for Brazil, but based purely on this season form I wouldn't select him. However it's only one player, every squad will have a few players that could easily be replaced by a few others Prydzopolis 1
Nnnnnathan12 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 That's a strong Germany team, really strong with quality all over the park.Miroslav Klose, how old is he know? Has been scoring for fun in Serie A or is he there mainly for the experience? Prydzopolis 1

Don't write them off - it was the no-names that actually turned things around for them and got them qualified after the bigger names flopped and almost ended in disaster. The squad that started winning games and got them out of the pickle was entirely mexican based.

Johnno Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Jedinak now in doubt: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-12/jedinak-injured-in-palace-final-league-game/5445932 Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak is in doubt for the Sydney friendly against South Africa on May 26 after picking up a groin injury on the final day of the English Premier League season. Jedinak was substituted off on the 59th minute of Crystal Palace's 2-2 draw with Fulham, narrowly missing out on completing every minute of Crystal Palace's league campaign. In a hindrance to his preparations for Australia's World Cup campaign in Brazil - which kicks off against Chile on June 14 - early reports suggest Jedinak will be out of action for two weeks. He is set for a scan on his groin tomorrow. Jedinak captained the Socceroos for the first time in the 4-3 friendly loss to Ecuador in March, having developed into a crucial cog of Australia's midfield. His ability to screen his defence in the middle of the park will prove crucial against the heavyweights of Spain, the Netherlands and Chile in Australia's World Cup group. He captained Crystal Palace to promotion to the Premier League in 2012/13, and this season excelled in the Eagles' midfield in a year where the club finished 11th. Crystal Palace was largely expected to battle against relegation this year. Jedinak has made 43 appearances for Australia, scoring four goals Prydzopolis 1

And knowing our luck, we'll beat Brazil but then lose to Mexico and Cameron, i so wouldnt be suprised if that happened. Going on paper we should be comfortable against both cameron & mexico. Majority of the croatian players are in good form - Lovren, Kovacic, Modric, Rakitic, Mandzukic, Perisic, Olic. Prydzopolis 1
