wendybr Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 To those members in East/West stands getting their hate on for the silence, realise this; The RBB are not a group of paid entertainers placed in the Northen terrace to entertain you. It is fantastic that you enjoy their songs/tifos/flags/banners etc on match days. However you have no right to "demand" anything of them. When you say "sing" don't expect the answer to be "how loud?" This. Also to all you people out there berating the actions of the RBB. Did you not see the capo applaud your efforts to make some noise? Did you not see how the RBB stayed as usual after the final whistle to applaud the boys when many in the stands had left? Kind of flies in the face of your argument that we dont give a sh*t about the club and we only care about ourselves doesnt it? But surely there were only half of the RBB there!! I figured that some boycotted the game(as the protest) and the rest showed up to watch/support the team???? As you may have noticed during the rest of the season, the RBB is unfortunately half full with many fair weather fans. In addition to this i reckon a lot of people (non-core) would have assumed we had no active support and didnt come for that reason. But the fans you love to hate, the ones you think dont care. They were there. Hammer...are you speaking generally or are you suggesting that I personally 'love to hate" anything or anyone in the RBB. If you think that, I'm sad to have given that impression. I hate the damage done by flares. I've always loved what the RBB brings to games. I might condemn the action that is the only thing that is tearing us apart (as far as I can understand), That's nothing like what you're suggesting here. I'm as devastated as anyone else to see the state we're in. . Zelinsky, Prydzopolis and Neverbloom 3
TehSmileyBandit Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 What a disturbing situation we've all found ourselves into. There's s*** poster called PARRASFC, you'll find him in the Sydney FC thread. He once said that the toxicity at the WSW is just as much as SFC. The comment has always resided with me. A lot of you talk like the issue is isolated to flares. I don't think what's going on here is isolated to flares. When The Daily Telegraph released their "Exclusive" about how there are "Violent Sub-Groups" within the RBB the comments on this website were chilling. People were saying "OMG can't believe people wrap scarves around their faces!" and "What's with starting a violent sub group anyway?" I thought the article was complete an utter sensationalist garbage. But a lot of you thought the article was truth and that "Scarves around face = Violence!", and generally started whinging at the RBB like you are right now. All of sudden we're in the same predicament: A complicated situation, and we're reading "The true fans were in the East and West stands" and "The RBB doesn't stand united with the team" The RBB are more than entitled to sit down and be silent, you should all know that. But why are we all pitted against each other? Entitled to sit down? Maybe. Here's why... Can you remember the furore about away active tickets being members only? Rightly so, fans were upset that they couldn't bring their non-member mate along for their once or twice a year chantfest at Allianz. Well the fact of the matter is the North Terrace at Wanderland is members only and if you exercise your ENTITLEMENT to sit down and be silent, then you are denying those who want to SUPPORT OUR TEAM doing so. That is quite disappointing given the number of members on waiting list and those who "settled" for grandstand seats because the Nth Terrace was sold out. If you're that keen on sitting down and being silent, come and sit with me in the Western grandstand. dmixtaaa 1

The RBB is a great part of the club but I am a fan of WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS not the RBB. Shitty embarrassing displays like today further the distinction in my mind. What's embarrassing mate? If your so DE-ATTACHED from the RBB then what's your problem? Why you crying so much?
mrcovers Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 i cant believe this is still going on. i was at the game and from where i was sitting the wanderers were playing football. unlike alot of ppl getting the shits i actually go to the game to watch the team play. hard to believe i know. if the rbb chooses to watch the game and not sing then bad luck, big deal. alot of rbb members were there enjoying the game like the rest of us. somebody posted earlier that the section is reserved for active members. if the rbb wasnt here would that section be active, the answer is no. Few questions.. 1. Does the team rely on the rbb to win games? hell no. 2. Does the team get more fired up with the rbb? 100% they do. 3. Do you think the rbb would be crying over 7 pages now if the rest of the stands went on a protest? F*** no why are we still talking about this. our team lost because they played **** not because of the rbb. Lmc, WestGrub, WanderersFC and 11 others 14

wendybr Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 You guys realise EVERYONE who has ever been humiliated by the RBB's attendance at a match is now taking cheap shots left right and centre ? All you have done is lower yourselves to the pathetic levels of the NT and the Cove, all you have done is drop the noise levels to the pathetic levels of the CCM fans and the Jets fans. Except when the two sets of supporters took matters into their own hands and delivered a great set of WDYSFs. Well done Eastern stand for getting the ball rolling. We in the West actually had quite an amusing time. Spoke to some of our neighbours for the first time. A few of us attempted to join in a "Come On You Wanderers" started above us ...but it didn't quite lift off much as what the Eastern.side got started. We actually had quite a bit of good spirit. Had a few attempts at "Can't Hear the RBB Sing" Chanted "Wan-der-ers" during the Posnan. Shame about the result- the Jets clearly the better team. Not a bad evening for a lot of quite unexpected reasons. That's great Wendy..maybe you can put your name in the hat to be the next capo when the RBB are not there anymore. Are you saying that, in the totally unanticipated instance that organised support for the team was totally withdrawn, it wasn't a good thing that people in the stands had a go and tried to adjust their expectations of the game? And that they tried to support the team? There was some confusion,. There was no doubt disappointment. For most people at the ground, if they're like me, it's what they spend the whole week looking forward to. There were a lot of the same comments that are being aired here - people were irritated "We can't hear the RBB sing" At least people were trying to compensate with a bit of good-natured humour. And there actually was a game of football being played out in front of us- which is what most people come to see. What was expected of us, exactly?? Smoggy, Zelinsky and Prydzopolis 3

SBW Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) Ive just logged on and cbb going through 8 pages of this thread but Im going to put my perspective in this and I am not saying this on behalf of the RBB because I have a ST ticket in the Northern End. 1st of all, I did not get in til 10min before KO and I only realised about the silent protest as game KO and having cops telling me to go and sit in my designated bay (bay 58) and away from my friends who sit in other bays. We were not allowed to cross over to other bays or else the police will hand cuff and have us escorted out of the ground and confiscate our membership. 2nd - the treatment that we got today from the police felt like were locked up in our jail cell cause we were not allowed to leave our bays to go to the toilets or else we will be kicked out of the ground, like wise for those guys who were standing behind the terrace on the hill having a smoke and being told by the police to either get back into their bay or be evicted and have their membership confiscated. Either way, today there wasn;t much the active members can do when the police were ready to arrest us for cheering our boys on. 3rd - now before some of you guys say that the RBB have brought it upon themselves, thats bullshit, the RBB should not be held responsible for a minority of dickheads and the incompetence of stadium staff and police on Wednesday night. Why should the RBB suffer consequences from the FFA because of this? I am not defending the RBBs action today until I find out what their full reasoning of the silent protest. The atmosphere not just at the ground but around Parra had this very eerie feeling as something was about to go down. Edited March 2, 2014 by SBW WestGrub, Benched, Erdz and 1 other 4

I applaud those who like you put so much time into their expression of support of the club. It does nothing for me but I am pleased that those who do it are fulfilled by their involvement. Its just the view that this somehow makes them superior to other supporters that is bullish*t. That and the elitist attitude that somehow the RBB is the club and the club is the RBB which some seem to think. You may have mistaken my views on those who break the law to support the club as being anti RBB but it isn't. Its the individuals who do it that are the d*ck-heads not the RBB or active support as a whole. No individual has the right to besmirch the good name of the club by being involved in illegal activity at a game or associated event. In this issue of the silent protest my view is coloured by my belief that it is never right to not fully support the players in a game. If an individual or a group have issues with management, the FFA, stadium owners, police etc then valid protests need to be targeted at the entity concerned and not include the players during a game. Anyway, enjoy your evening. I've been waiting over 60 years to live this experience and I'm not going to let your opinion bother me. Neverbloom, wendybr and matty119 3

We dont get off scot free. Exactly my point. You suffer as a group because the group makes a stand against "dobbing in" individuals, you then complain because you're being punished as a group for those individual actions. It's an easy choice, for mine. Shame that choice has been eliminated for many RBB members who are already sick of sanctions and know there's worse to come as a result of a stand that benefits nobody but troublemakers. Of course, they could install high tech CCTV like they have at Suncorp to catch and ban the right people and there'd be complaints about "big brother" etc. wendybr and matty119 2

oldnwise Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) RBB are entitled to protest if they feel they have a valid reason to protest. RBB have played a role in creating the atmosphere the majority enjoy at both home and away games. Those who are being over critical should ask themselves if they have made the same contribution. Probably not. Constructive criticism of RBB is sometimes warranted but some of the comments in this thread are over critical. Well done to the various groups who started the chants and WDYSF in the stands tonight. There was a group of kids near my location in the eastern stand who started several chants and the crowd joined in and they took off. Thank you to those in the RBB who applauded after WDYSF and Poznan. Even in protest the RBB showed respect to the supporters in the stands. Flares at AFC match were a mistake. The message needs to get through to the minority bringing them to the stadium. FFA and Wanderers football club have to take actions they feel are appropriate to address the problem. Wanderers supporters or RBB may not necessarily like their response but they have to address the issue. Edited March 2, 2014 by oldnwise Neverbloom, Erdz, wendybr and 5 others 8
Tati Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Everything was fine until several flares were let off in the ACL game = so most of us assume that this is was triggered the later issues. I have such a bad taste in my mouth from all of the crap I've read today! If I see another flare = it will remind me of this day and how our fans divided. I will encourage everyone around me to 'boo' the next flare that's let off.
